    After 22 years in the trade I have been going through the motions...what's the point kind of thing but since i found your channel I have been hyped again. I have been buying tools again based of your recommendations, I just bought a work centre for my Epiq and started a reorganizing. Now I want a power drawer. Your costing me a fortune, Thanks? Seriously, thanks.

    Excluding the power tool insert the cost for this retrofit is $536.55 USD ***ALL PART NUMBERS WORK FOR MASTER SERIES TOO!!***

      16 to 20k for a new box with it or 500 bucks to retrofit a box. How is that a joke? Link to a PDF is in the description where I said it would be.

      You mentioned the power bank gun holders were for a krl series box, I have the krl722 series. Wonder what the dimensions on the gun stand are and if they would fit my big drawer. Big thanks if you could let me know that!

      it is a nice box i just dont see the point in spending 500 bucks on sumthing i can fab out for less that 40 bucks. ive put power in tons of my friend's boxes all for way less than this. with the exact same or even better look thats all. love your channel man meant no disrespect i just cant see the price as reasonable

    I'm over in the UK. We don't get the power drawers or the power tops over here due to being 240v and our CE Standards not signing off on it. So we are already on the back foot!
    I've got around it by utilising one of the holes that are in the underneath of the toolbox and running the power lead up and securing it to the back of the box with millions of sticky pads and zip ties through them. This makes sure the power lead doesn't come away from the back of the box and catch on the drawers. It's a pretty clean install and means I don't have to cut into my 84". You're a brave man for cutting into yours!!
    You not thought of adding a touch of paint to the freshly cut edges to stop them from rusting!?

  • @dillwiggle2
    @dillwiggle2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Some touch up paint on the edges would help keep the rust away. And a swivel coupler would help keep that air hose out of the way, makes easier to work with. Nice work.

    I’ve got a KRL1023 and I love the power drawer... I just couldn’t bring myself to cut into a 15k$ box... You got balls Joel! I’ve been buying snappy tools for 20 years. Great product! Keep up the awesome videos/content ! Thank you!

  • @3xfaster
    @3xfaster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For a DIY project that’s gonna pay dividends in saved time and steps not running to a battery bank 10-25 feet away for a fresh pack, you certainly had a reasonable incentive to do this mod.
    This is the more reasonable alternative than outright purchase of a new box, and you did an excellent job in getting it all square and cut.
    Forgive me for saying so, but your drawer inserts are divine!~

  • @jeffreycastillo170
    @jeffreycastillo170 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just ordered a 68", even though you cant get a powerdrawer, BUT i will follow this GREAT tip. Thanks a million!

  • @turboflush
    @turboflush 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very nice. Other brands just bolt into the box with only a couple holes. This is a good space saver.
    Do make sure you paint up the cut edges as others have said.

  • @robertl606
    @robertl606 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I installed a power draw in my 84" Epic Yesterday. I used your parts list and it went well. I must say that first cut is stressful. Its a matter of getting the courage to take a cut off wheel to your tool box. But as you say this is not a hard project. Just take your time and its fine. Its very simple metal work.
    Something I did that I did not see in your video (but I am sure you did and I may have missed) was to buy a bottle of color matched touch up paint from my Snap-on dealer to paint the exposed metal before finally assembly. I wanted to stop future rust and it makes the cuts look factory.
    I wish I could post a picture of how mine came out. Like you I am glad I did it. Thanks very much for making this video.

    • @TheSnapOnToolReview
      @TheSnapOnToolReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to hear it went well man!!

    • @edwoods6392
      @edwoods6392 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where did you find the parts list?

    • @robertl606
      @robertl606 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edwoods6392 It is in the link for this video.
      One thing I found is that the tool holder listed in the parts list is too tall. I had to cut the bottom off so it would fit as it should. But that was a simple fix.

    • @edwoods6392
      @edwoods6392 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert L I looked for the parts in the list. They are all back ordered. Snap on rep won’t sell them to me either. Keeps trying to get me to buy a $4000 hutch instead.

    • @robertl606
      @robertl606 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He can order them. I gave the list to my snapon dealer and he order them through the Rock and Roll cab truck. I had them shipped to my snapon dealer and paid for them in the truck. I don't see why he won't order them. Its money in his pocket. It did take 4 months to get the parts. Like everything for snapon tool boxes.
      I would try a different dealer or reach out to the Corporate Rocking Roll Cab truck yourself. Tell them to order them as replacement parts.
      It's not cheap like all things snapon.

    Nice job but is another way with no need of snapon power drawer parts.
    I done a few power drawer style mods on snapon and matco boxes, parts and material around $100 to $150 pending exactly what want in terms of sockets surge protection usb outlets etc
    You even don't need cut side of the drawer just hole in the back.
    Basically use likes of igus cable link track and make guide trough U piece from alloy or stainless, I used brushed alloy, either tig mounting points on or plan bend formed tabs at ends when doing template cut and brake forming it (can also buy guide troughs if want)
    Ones I done had cable exit back and top side as sent into a socket strip side mounted with usb ports as most want that feature added plus made easy hookup/hide cable exit point .
    Works as good as snappy one, only advantage with cutting side of drawer is better space usage but it minimal .
    I actually don't like power drawers as prefer batteries charging in open environment for better cooling so I have a charge shelf on end, adding fan with some sensor control could be an idea in warmer climates.
    security factor of all in drawer is good though and can see why guys as employees in a shop like it as save batteries going for a walk or an exchange lol.
    Sweet job and the 68 epic is a damn nice box .

    I have had a 84” epiq triple bank flor 3 years. I just got my hutch today , stainless power top has always been on it but never secured . I just found out there’s holes if u take out the top drawer to secure the top. Then mount the hutch to the top. However I have a gloss black with the silver trim like that one . But this is my question , How do I go about getting the red and carbon fiber ? Is that just vinyl or tape? I have tons of finger nail scratches in my box and it drives me crazy! Thank you in advance love the videos !

    Great job, it came out looking like factory installed but a Toolbox is for tool storage. Snap-On is nice but way over priced for the quality. You paid $15 k for that Epic roll cab but then had to spend more money to install a power draw. I sold my KR 555 & KR 550 Toolbox that was in New condition and bought a Husky HD rollcab with a butcher block top, a bottle opener, soft closing drawers (N/A on Epic) and a power strip w / USB to charge all my power tools for under a $1,000 and put money in my pocket from the Snap-On sale. Snap-On is an image that you're paying for, it's like driving down the road in a Rolls-Royce when you can get just as nice a ride from a Bentley...LOL !

    Hello Joel,
    Thank you for sharing your power drawer conversation with us. Looks very professionally done. Excellent job! Some people are bitching about you paying a little over $500 for all the right parts when you could have found someone to make your bent metal parts for you. But why. There just looking for a reason to heat on Snap-on. For the total cost of the parts from Snap-on, the knowledge that they will all fit & work properly & the convenience, why not buy them from Snap-on. Maybe if you were a metal fabricator then build it yourself. I know the slightly sick feeling when you start making that first cut. LOL Thanks for sharing your power drawer conversation with us. Very good video.

      The Snap-On Tool Review Joel,..Im a 30 yr veteran Collision Tech...do yourself a favor,..file down the edges nice, and brush touch the exposed steel with EPOXY primer BEFORE you touch up with paint and it will last forever without rust. Paint on bare metal will eventually lift,flake,peel and moisture will also get through the paint...but NOT if you put EPOXY down first. Epoxy primer bonds to steel and aluminum and paint bonds to EPOXY primer. Just a tip for ya bro,...lots of money we have invested...definately want to protect it. Russ

    Looks awesome. i wonder if this mod would be possible on a KRL. i already have the power tool insert

    • @TheSnapOnToolReview
      @TheSnapOnToolReview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried looking into the KRL part numbers and couldn’t find them. I’m almost sure that the part numbers are the same seeing that the KRL has the same depth dimensions. If you can find a parts breakdown on a KRL it’s totally possible.

    Been in the automotive repair industry for 30 years and make it just fine without a power drawer tool box. No way would I trade my paid for 6S just to get a factory equipped power drawer. I like how you used your noggin to get what you wanted instead of just going into debt.
    A mechanic that couldn’t install the power drawer probably has chosen the wrong career. Not being mean...just honest.

    Does cutting a hole in any drawer on your tool box void the warranty or the trade in options?
