I'm from Thailand. Even though moms are pretty strict about how we look, generally these stores have extremely nice people with the same body themselves. They have these specially for people having troubles finding something that actually fits. The clothes made specially so you look your best. The signs are written by mostly locals with basic English. A lot of their intentions are to compare fat people to adorable things, cows, bees, fat cats, they're mostly not insults. People refer to eachother like family and also talk to each other like family 😂

The reason the sizes in third world countries are so small is cause we still promote being unhealthily skinny. Like i’m 5’10 and 170 pounds which is normal for my height but if i told someone i was 170 pounds without mentioning my height they would call me obese. I’ve never had medical issues and i’ve never had a doctor tell me i needed to lose weight even when i reached 180 at one point. Being truly obese is not healthy at all and should not be promoted but it pisses me off when people throw people like me into the “obese” category. Like i saw someone say wearing a size large meant you wore plus sized clothes. Some countries promote extremely unhealthy malnutrition diets with people becoming weak and women starving themselves just to fit the ideal image. Look at Korea and the beauty standard there. Idols will faint on stage because they’re forced to eat so little just so they can stay thin. In a lot of asian countries this is the case. We need to be able to find a middle ground. We need to educate people that being too skinny and being too overweight are both dangerous. My sister almost died because she was malnourished due to an eating disorder. Most of these famous instagram girls who promote the body standard are underweight. You can’t attack obesity without attacking malnourishment they’re both a big problem. The only reason no one cares about people being underweight is because it looks better. Life is all about looks. It’s sad but it’s true, if you don’t agree with this statement that’s fine but this is how i believe it should be
Oh Damn, my family calls me moo moo as a cute family name because my name begins with the pronunciation "moo", so sorry that you feel and had to go through that tho, the clothes in the shop were definitely cute tho
As a Thai Lady myself, this is true. I can't remember last time I feel confident in my own body when I was in Thailand. No matter what I do, I will never look as thin as what Thai people expected me to be and got called ugly just because I don't meet their standards. Not just that, they expected me to be as white as paper, and as tall as a model or even tell me to under go some surgeries to meet their expectations. Believe me, they only use criticisms to make them feel better even though there is a different way to say it nicely to others. It becomes my trauma ever since especially when I was a child. But generally, Thailand is a beautiful country with a long history and a lot of old architectures and some people are very kind, plus nice view if you went to the south like Phuket the sea there is amazing. But if you like caves and mountains, the north would be for you like Chiang Rai and many more. But other than that I'm glad I'm out here so I don't have to give a damn about what I eat or how I look as much and start to just love myself more. It was nice. Sending y'all loves.❤ Xoxo ❤❤

In Thailand, they kinda use the word "fat" as a joke. The beauty standards in Thailand are based on face shape and look, and the health of your body. I think the reason she had to buy large is because she's taller than most Thai women, therefore she's "large". In no way do Thai people think it should be a standard to become astronomically small.
As a thai, they mean to compare being fat to cute things like cows, bees, fat cats, candy etc so their intentions are actually good! And its also probably because she is quite tall, so small size thai clothes have a chance of not fitting her. There are barely any thai people who are skinnier than her, tbh. Would be mostly kids and teenagers.
Omg girl SAME! Ngl I’m a size 16 right now (& working on it) I’m acutely aware of my size but something like that is just horribly offensive & I’m not even one of those pro fat positivity people. i am most definitely also plus size but thailand is the only country i’ve visited where i actually feel comfortable in my clothes and don’t worry about what i’m wearing; i even feel more comfortable there than i do at home. these shops are vendor run and in the upper parts of malls, so they are not chains of shops, and they’re really not common. this video is a really bad misrepresentation of thailand and thai people - their own people come in many (and i mean MANY) varied shapes and sizes and i’ve seen people that are much bigger than i am wearing things that people half my size would wear. 99.9% of the time, you will find your size, even if you’re a 4XL, even at small vendors or at markets and not just in bigger malls and chain brands. don’t let this video fool you into thinking that their whole country is minuscule and thin, and that anybody there is going to make you feel bad about yourself or your weight, because those things aren’t true! thai people are so kind and so generous and they would never treat you any way at all based on your size because they have no reason to. if you want to avoid any country because of their views on weight, make it south korea - i make sure i never buy clothes when i’m there because it’s just embarrassing and disheartening when nothing runs even close to your size lol
@@chiisainiki Thanks for saying that, is good to see other side to the story To be honest, my comment was meant more like a joke, though I did felt wary because of the video, especially because I'm indeed aware some oriental countries tend to valorize really small sizes, South Korea being a good instance of that, like you said But is good to know that is not the case for all
That's crazy 😭 I mean, I get that they are tiny and skinny over there, but why the names ? I am laughing about it, but on a serious note, that could really crush women's self-image, especially since you don't even have to be fat for those clothes to fit you. Ya'll in Thai over there be wildddd 😭😭

I learned that most modeling agencies don't accept people below a certain height because the shorter you are the more weight gain is apparent. I'm one of the tallest women in my mom's side of the family and I'm 5'3. My Dad's side everyone is above average height. His older sister is above 5'5. When I gain or loose 5 pounds it is much more noticeable than when my dad's sister does (I lost 20 pounds and it was extremely noticeable but my aunt once lost 10 pounds and no one could really tell until she told them, not that she was overweight or anywhere close before). Also, watch it. The reason the sizes in third world countries are so small is cause we still promote being unhealthily skinny. Not just that, they expected me to be as white as paper, and as tall as a model or even tell me to under go some surgeries to meet their expectations. Believe me, they only use criticisms to make them feel better even though there is a different way to say it nicely to others. It becomes my trauma ever since especially when I was a child. Because some of them starve themselves to fit the standard, that’s why they’re that way and that’s what I have seen and been told by Asian friends.
Scrawny boys are not it…
@@tainadelcaribe ya that is true but some people are really that way like my friend is also like he would eat a whole pizza but still could model in Paris fashion week 😅😅and I really envy that😅😅

UK size 10 here. Went to a shop in vietnam.. no one came to assist or ask what I wanted. Soon figured out the biggest size they had was UK 6
Damn they’d probably tell me there ain’t no store for me lol. I’m 5’10 and weigh 167lbs and I wear and size 6-8.
nah youre too tall. The people on average are 140cm- 155cm.
@@kij7412damn- i’m 175 cm id be a giant 😭
Yeah, I agree. Even though in Japan it isn’t as bad, but as a 5”8 woman with muscle it’s definitely hard existing in East/south-east Asia 😂
@@kij7412 Lmao 😂 Yea I have trouble finding long pants here. The “longs” are short depending on the store.
@@ava1872 Yea I can imagine girl. 💗
Lol, this reminds me of when we went shopping in The Philippines. I asked what’s the largest size they had on a dress they had on display and I was told “It won’t fit you, ma’am.” 😂😂😂
I wouldn't survive there. I'm a tall girl and I struggle with sizes here!
i'm so sorry that that happened, omg. even i'm disappointed with my own country 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
@@gummyvenn Because emoleyees are honest about the size of their clothes? The fuck is she supposed to say if they don't have her size? Scam her and get her a dress that is too small?
Philippines are serious if it can't fit you it can't fucking fit as a Philippina it is true
@@bananajoe4233yeah but they could at least give it to her to try it on
"Fatty fat girl" is crazy af😭😭😭
Idk it's kinda embracing it instead of making it taboo lol I'm that fatty fat girl 💅
Imagine someone ask you where you get your clothes from in you say fatty fat girl 😭
She’s absolutely gorgeous I’m in love with her smile eyes and hair actually EVERYTHING about her 🤩😍
Tbf, thai people are also super short so makes sense that with lower obesity rate, their average clothing size is much smaller, but wow the store names 😭 I was actually super shocked that as a 5'8 woman when i went to south korea, i actually fit in their size small bc I'm a lot bigger than their average but i noticed Korean women tend to wear their clothes baggy so i lucked out with that but yeah, I'd be plus sized in thailand 😂
Tbh as a short person, you’re more likely to look chubby than skinny bc you dont have as much space to stretch out. You can be the same weight as someone taller and you will look chunkier than them. If you’re REALLY skinny as a short person, you probably just have an ED
@@Sinklair8every short skinny person ik eat good asf they genetics are just good like two of my cousins are 4'10-4'11 around 98-102 lbs (genetics) n 4'11-5'0 100-104lbs (track star + cheer captain) i need to join some sports fr
@@Sinklair8 If you’re 6ft and weigh 200lbs that’s waaaaay healthy than being 5ft and weighing 200lbs.
You aren’t supposed to be the same weight as ppl taller than you. You can eat less calories and be healthy. If somebody is short and thin, it absolutely DOES NOT mean they have an eating disorder. It means they’re in better shape lol
You also have to remember different metabolisms and diet as well as different ethnicities tend to process and digest foods differently.
@@Sinklair8doesn't it also depend on genetics and metabolism? Like my mom was super skinny and she could eat 4 full plates in one sitting. She was 5'2.
I'm short and skinny, most clothes don't fit me or I have to shop in the kids' sections lol. It's time to go to Thailand and shop below the 4th floor!
East Asian and SEA countries generally consist of what seems like 90% short and skinny people, so I'm sure you'll find everything you want in the adult sections there ^^

its not the norm, its just the beauty standard, and they develop eating disorders to reach it
sure, asian people tend to be a bit smaller on average, but not like that
I had an absolute melt down at a department store when I was 16 because the only shirts I could find that fit me had Bob the Builder and Dora the Explorer on them. I just wanted something that looked more grown up, stuff like what my friends were wearing. My poor mother was sooo embarrassed, like I was ON the floor, hysterical lol so we went to the mall and to a special store for people MY size and (paid way more unfortunately) but I was so happy!

As a girl who is on the lower end of plus sizes 14-18 depending on the brand…I would be considered morbidly obese 💀 I remember ordering a M top that was from Japan (I didn’t realize that when I ordered it). Medium tops fit me 90% of the time so I wasn’t worried. This shit was like…..a toddlers t shirt. I was shocked 😂
East Asian countries want you to like be a stick I am 12 and XS but in Japan I am a literal M
Fr I’m a size xs/s in the us, a size s/m south america and size m/l asia 😂 standards are funny tbh. But also in asia women are 1,5 M tall max. And I’m ~1,7 M 😁
Seriously, though. I mean I know there’s a lot of racism in Asia, specifically in East Asia toward non-Asian individuals, but whether you like us or not we need clothing to be accessible, and many races happen to be generally thicker boned and more heavy set than Japanese/Chinese/Korean/Taiwanese people. I’m a White girl with some curves, it’s not happening. 💀 It’s embarrassing that they think it is appropriate to treat people like that. These are basic necessities; bottoms, shirts, shoes, bras, undies, etc.
@@Manshalikessoupppmaybe you guys are just too big for us

Then lose weight? Jesus christ
@lourdesgyan no. Fat is gross. Everyone had potential to be beautiful and it starts with stop over eating
