Yeah that one looks great as well! So many options these days that all are pretty guaranteed to be great. If I wasn’t already in L Mount eco system I’d consider Sony since so many videographers I work with use it
This lens is absolutely goated on the FP. Color shifts are fixable in camera by Setting a custom correction profile, On the page 3 of the shooting menu. the long MFD is easily fixed by using a macro L to M adapter like the kipon, shoten or 7 artisan One, it's around 80 bucks and works on all Leica M mount. since there is a filter thread on the front, you could imagine sticking a tiny smartphone anamorphic adapter on the front too.
Wow all great ideas dang haha. Color seemed fairly neutral in my experience but maybe should start using my color chart in lens test videos. I had the macro adapter for a bit but returned it a few years ago. Might have to get it again. Yeah the 25.5mm filter thread is interesting I couldn’t find much for that size specifically without getting step up rings
@cedartreefilms when you actually look at the corners of the images you can see they are pretty blue, these colorshafts are a residu of the sensor being thicker than film, and they are noticeable from 28mm and wider
As a M43 shooter who doesnt mind odd ergonomics... You should definitely try out the Lumix GM1 as a street still shooter. If video is a must the GX850 is another option. Pictures dont do the GM1 justice. It will make the FP feel like an absolute tank. Great info here keep them coming!
Thanks yeah I have definitely considered that camera in the past. Another cult classic it seems. I wish they made a mark II of that so the mark I ones would go down in price lol
I use mine for stills with a Leica M 35mm f2 lens and it's still very small and light. You are right, the image quality is superb. I also use it to shoot raw video in a studio set up. Also superb. It's a great, very underrated camera. I had to buy the equally over priced EVF though as I couldn't use the LCD screen in bright daylight. The FP was originally overpriced, which is when most TH-camrs reviewed it. The FP can be had pretty cheap now and is way more capable (despite the cons) than most people think.
Oh right I forgot retail when the FP came out was like 1900. Yeah now its a much better deal at 900-1000 used But honestly thats the perfect setting for it in a studio set up where you can offload media and use slimraw. I got the EVF 11 too for filming outdoors. It's great but definitely overpriced and makes it hard to store the camera in a lot of camera bags that aren't deep enough. Have been eyeing the leica M 35s and the 40 f2 a lot lately haha must resist GAS
Fun review. I own and love this lens for my Sigma FPL. Although I am usually shooting with much larger and faster prime lenses for that super shallow focus, sometimes it’s fun to be so compact and shoot with the much wider angle. Since I had seen plenty of other reviews about minimum focus issues, I use a close focus adapter. I am kind of shocked that Brighten star does not include one of these when sending their lenses to reviewers since it’s one of the only complaints people have. With the close focus adapter you can focus on objects much closer and the background bokeh is much more exaggerated. Center focus is still super sharp however the corner focus drops off even more. Since you like to use this lens a lot I highly recommend getting a close focus adapter. (It basically has its own focus ring allowing you to return it to regular mode so you are still able to reach infinity focus.) My typical lens is my 7artisans 50mm f1.05. Also love my monster TTArtisan 90mm f1.25 and just got the ttartisan 75mm f1.5 for Christmas, having fun experimenting with its swirly bokeh.
Oh wow I totally forgot about those m to l macro adapters. I briefly had one for a voigtlander m but returned it. Dang true Brighton star should sell it with that since iirc you get down from .7 to .4 m or something like thag
i think sony zv e1 is the way to go. About the same size, you could even adapt the Brightstar to it (Techart LM-EA9 auto adapter), better image overall, higher dynamic range and also way better low light.. video is not raw but higher dynamic range beats raw i think ..a flip screen.. now i want to try that myself 😅😅
Yeah that one seems to be a good value proposition. Not sure if I’d say better image overall but ofc that’s subjective Sony definitely nails all the convenience factors
I like camera to able to fit into pocket as well but then camera is meant to be shooting hence carry it on neck make more sense and this make me think just get a bigger zoom lens is better and make me think all these smaller sensor pocketable camera isn't much reasonable to get, but for a camera like Nikon Zf, do a 26mm f2.8 pancake still worth it on it or the 14-30mm f4 wider zoom is better on it? How about just use the 13mm and mainly the 26mm on iPhone as quick snap camera and just get a 28-400mm f4-8 on the Zf as only everyday and carry on your neck camera setup? Or a small Laowa 15mm f5 pancake ultrawide too?
Thats a cool idea too! I haven't tried ultra zooms as much but possibly the 28-200 they have for leica l mount. I feel confliced on zooms in general these days because I feel like primes force me to work the scene a bit more and the limitation is good for my workflow. But I envy the minimalist set ups like that lol. The Zf looks pretty sweet
@ Had an ultra wide angle from this outfit. Was very cheap on Amazon. Bought it to play with. On my fp. Low corner sharpness. Weird orange color cast with lens.
Yeah so what! Sigma certainly could have developed super-duper phase detect AF. Oh well, no way, what do u mean? Just go for the slow-boat approach. Have fun. A pinhole cam also works, if u want to spend the time. Certainly, u could make a pin-hole cam smaller than the Sigma FPL for almost free. 😎😎
@@cedartreefilms Great to see that u do have a sense of humor. Actually, I seriously though about picking up one of the Sigma mini cams. However, I've kept hoping that they'd get in the boxing ring and give Sony AF a total knockout. 😎😎
I've heard good things about that one. Yeah it does beat out this set up in terms of wider aperture and better sharpness. I guess I was only thinking of interchangeable lens cameras for this vid The FP and brightin star is longer and taller but slimmer than Rx-1. 12.2 x 69.9 x 62.7 for FP and 11.4 x 6.6 x 7.1 cm for RX-1
Hey Cedartree, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance designer, would you like to have a minimalist logo to have an easy to remembered brand image and merch prints arts which you can wear and your fans can buy to support you and it can drive loyalty and act as a wearable business card to spread words about your channel? Let me know if you interested to make it happen! :-)
Congratulations to your second most clicked video! keep up the good work :)
Thank you ! I appreciate that a lot
Killer combo! Great video
Thanks! Have enjoyed all your fp videos coming out
@ thanks!
Interesting, but considering the price point, I would rather go with the original A7C (used in good condition) for a full-frame EDC...
Yeah that one looks great as well! So many options these days that all are pretty guaranteed to be great. If I wasn’t already in L Mount eco system I’d consider Sony since so many videographers I work with use it

Thank you cheers!

@ I just bought an M10 - now the used price has dropped. I have the Voigtlander 40mm, which so used paired with the FP on a few cycling holidays.
In Japan I grabbed the FP with the EVF for like £900, best money I've spent
@cine-ish woah that’s an amazing deal I think I paid 900 for just the camera alone
Have considered the voigtlander as well how do you think it compares to leica m lenses? I want to get one that I’ll never sell hopefully

Have you tried Lensbaby Sweet 22 f. 3.5 works well on sony if you want arty look and superlightweight small lens
woah thats a cool lens. It looks like it would be even smaller than this one since no adapter is needed. Hmm *GAS increases* haha thanks for sharing
your video qulity is amazing
i just subed
thats awesome to hear thanks!
Voightlander 40mm 1.4 classic for sigma fp good choice?
Wow
Dude needs more abos and clicks! Great!
ty appreciate that! hopefully haha

Its a fun lens, cool review. TBH i don't know about that camera though, its a pretty hard sell!
thanks! yeah lol Idk if I could go back to it being my only camera due to the limitations but as a b cam its wonderful
Nice concept, you can definitely do better with adapted m-mount lens.
Yeah true only thing is cost, saving up for the 40 f2
@@cedartreefilms leica guy (Matt Osborne) reviews a lot of these super portable lenses. They aren't all expensive.

yo what's up with the audio, seems like auto gain was turned on?? other than that cool vid
thanks ! yeah I have been having a bit of trouble EQing my audio lately need to figure it out still haha
I have the fp but would not throw money away on that lens…
Not a fan due to barrel distortion and low corner sharpness?
@ Had an ultra wide angle from this outfit.

Pin hole camera would be a fun project 🤔 did it once but never attempted to make it compact

а почему коменты на инглише ?
🤔
It’s your great subjects and how you took it made this not-so-good expensive camera sound awesome. You’re just justifying it’s flaws lol.
Haha you may have a point. It’s a love hate feeling towards the camera
uh... sony rx-1?

Yeah true I wanted to put interchangeable lens in the title but it made it too long. This is actually thinner than the rx but wider and longer
