I screwed up, I got some plastic (polyester) on it from the reveal sheet in this video and didn't notice it then. But shortly after I posted the video, I figured out what had happened. So I pulled down the video out of embarrassment, it was up for about an hour. I'm going to try to burn off the rest of the plastic and clean it up. Maybe I will record it, I don't know, I'm still kind of embarrassed about the whole thing, since it was MY fault. take care, Scott
Be better if BMW fitted a mudslinger type rear mudguard and extended front mudguard to protect the bike better from the factory as everyone seems to fit them to their bikes

Interesting work Scott! We are working on various different guard extensions/replacements for the GS at the moment. You should probably be doing the testing and reviews for us based on the level of commitment shown here 🤣

No worries Scott. Since you figure it out and at the end everything is ok. But for some of us watching it, we were waiting for a follow up on the matter. As potential buyers, we follow reviewers for that particular reason, to know the whole picture. Thanks for the honest reply. Have good rides and thanks for the whole effort of yours. Yea, I've got 2 videos that are waiting in line before the "clean-up header" video comes out cause I haven't cleaned them yet, I'm lazy. One last week, then one tomorrow, then next week the cleaning the header video will come out...I think or is it the cold weather video...sigh, well, it's in the works 😁👍

I have no idea how ridiculously small number of people will ever know this fact.
So thank you very much for your contribution!!
Only you would do a video on this Scott. Great attention to detail as always 😁👍
Actually quite smart, deviates the rain away from the tire and not back onto it
I wondered about the exhausts as your video disappeared?

I was wondering as well. Don't be embarrassed. Just be up front about it. Ya got nothing to prove man.
@@NothingToProvenothing to be embarressed, we all do stupid mystakes sometimes. We would be interested though how it came out after all
Good eye on this one and good design. I believe it allows the water to coalesce before falling - less atomization - less spray. Pretty cool

Not really, additional mudguards get damaged when someone is riding offroad. GS is still an adventure bike.
@@motolover5697 Great point
This piece makes the outer hugger more sturdy. Will not warp or deform exposed to external elements.
what happened to the burn exhaust header video?
It was residue stuck to the pipes from the unveiling cover apparently.
I’d recommend putting up a quick video to explain- a lot of people are asking!!

Thanks for the reply, nothing to be embarrassed about. Good to know! It just shows the interest in your videos, the fact so many are watching.
Very interesting and entertaining video, Scott. Good job as always. Ride safe.

I thought for sure you were just going to cut that lip right off. Your fix was much better than mine.
....did you get your exhaust pipes fixed? What did BMW say?
Turns out it was residue from the unveiling cover. So no blame on bmw there.

Great idea and seems to work well should reduce amount of water fling towards the rider. Thanks Scott
And what do you think about the much louder engine/shiftcam-rattle? For me that would be a dealbreaker i think…
Top video pal an must be hard in the rain on your brand new GS 1300 !! 🤣🤣 have a good un 👍
Merry Christmas Scott & family ⭐️
Merry Christmas Steve!!
Well…nice to have but for me it is not a must!…but ok, it shows how the brain of BMW Engineers works!…;)
Without it,how much debris will it fling on itself ?
That's what I was wondering! Those pooper-scoopers look absolutely hideous and I'd want to leave mine off!
It's like it has its own pinlock system!
Wunderlich will come out with a three piece :-D
Four piece! 🤣🤣
And they will call it „Active Mudguard Comfort Plus“ 😂
Good job Scott and good job BMW. Diverts water off the tyre I think.
Any previous GS I have owned It was the 1st thing I removed from bike and tossed in the rubbish.
Mine is still on and have no problems with it after 130.000km on and offroad riding. Most take it off for the looks.
Is it compatible with older versions of R1200GS motorcycles?
Nice video as usual ❤❤❤❤
Repairing wet moto parts on the dining table - my wife would freak out 😂
Interested to see their mud flap design.
Is this a standard tile in Germany they're in every guest house bathroom. UK here BTW
what about the exhaust?

Any juicy rumors about about the rest of the R1300’s? I’m definitely waiting, am currently bike-less (unless you count a VADO IGH lol)
Nope, not yet, just the GSA in the fall of 2024, nothing else for 24 😒
The answer lies in whether you suffered a dirty back or not 🤣
If only they had this on the s1000r!
...or even the 1250RS 🙄
Why can’t modern motorcycles have proper mudguards.
Yes.... It's for people behind you. From water stream
Maybe the inside piece is easier and cheaper to replace if damage occurs? Although that doesn't sound like something BMW would intentionally engineer.
First of all tell us what happened with the melted smoked pipes of the bike???

Brilliant video. I love your attention to detail and the you scrunch up your lips when doing something fiddly. I do that too!
You should have tried it without that inlay to see the difference :)
Yea, one more trip in the rain...yea, that's high in my priority list!! LOL!
Why don't they (not just BMW) design and fit proper mudguards, front as well as rear?
And you put it back on, lol. Oh and i guess BMW have had 'a word'?
