    These videos are so good, I’m genuinely surprised that they don’t get more views. I hope you keep making them as they are crazy helpful.

    In order to reduce rolling at landing, try removing all steering on the wheels. You can turn it back on to taxi. Great video.

      I tuned the landing gear after the video, including tweaking the steering. It's fine in the posted craft file.

    What I like about your videos is; there is always bonus information along with the main content. 👌

    I recently discovered your channel and am loving it so far. The videos explain everything REALLY well and I actually understand what I'm doing. I was wondering if you could make a tutorial for precision landing (for rockets)? All the tutorials I've found are either outdated or only explain landing on airless bodies.

    • @Someone-uw6fx
      @Someone-uw6fx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never mind that, it seems that this tutorial for spaceplanes also works with rockets haha
      Are you planning to make a tutorial for making bases on other moons\planets btw?

      At some point, probably. Right now, most of my energy is going into my Let's Play series. I will return to tutorials when I have the time. I'm just not sure when that will be.

    You can also re-enter nose down and this drops altitude faster during the burn.

      I only re-enter nose down because it always drops and I can't pitch back up

    I should probably be practicing guitar, but no, I'm trying to figure out an early game small Mun SSTO with the mk1 cockpit and crew cabins. Basically a private jet to the Mun with the only high tier part I want being the in-line docking port.

    thanks for the tutorial i just landed my first spaceplane from a suborbital trajectory, btw i saw that kerbal engineer helps alot for me with descent cus it seperates vertical speed from horizontal speed so its easy to tell how fast your goin down. and also, this helps us with planets with atmospheres but what about atmosphere-less bodies like the mun?

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find watching my horizontal speed really helps with vacuum landings too. Also KE has a useful impact marker showing you the project landing spot.

    hey, not related to the video but do you have any tips for interplanetary travel to places like duna, the jool system and eve? I've watched this entire playlist and found it very helpful, they way you explain things is so simple and easy to understand so I wanted to ask you for advice and or a tutorial on how to get to those places. thanks

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's on my to do list for this series. I've done it in various Let's Plays, but use mods to get the window timing. I could point you to one if you like.

    Good video. A few small things I would do differently:
    Start the descent pointing prograde (rather than Radial out, or 'up'), as that is one of the first auto-holds available,
    then make sure the plane is level (blue hemisphere on the navball is 'up', orange/brown is down), as that works regardless of reentry vector (a rookie might not be coming in straight eastbound, heck even I sometimes come in around 55° northbound when re-entering after a minmus landing)
    THEN pitch up according to your planes specifics (practice, practice, practice)
    I would also recommend doing this with a bigger plane first, as those are not so affected by drag, can store some reverse fuel for the air-breathing engines (if it has any) to adjust speed if needed, maybe even go around, and is overall easier to control if built properly... oh and on that note: Much easier to build compared to such a micro-shuttle.
    ... I had more thoughts while watching, but I lost them while formulating these ones. Ah well.

    • @MikeAben
      @MikeAben  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good tip locking prograde, leveling and then pitching up. I completely agree with this being easier with bigger planes. Heck, with higher tier air breathing engines, all you need to do is get within the vicinity of the KSC and then just fly home.

    I was curious, do you not use drogue chutes on space planes? I use them even on jets just to make landing easier.

      I've never felt the need to in stock KSP.

    You can use banking (yawing the craft left and right) while aerobraking to control your speed. More bank = more brake. This is how STS does it (it uses a fixed pitch angle)
