I really like the Jetta TDI design and was considering getting their hybrid. Thanks for the informative video. I see it would not have been a good choice. I currently have a 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid and am mostly happy with it
The Focus had some similar brake flaws when it first came out. They have since reprogrammed the ABS systems in mid 2012. And of course the new TCM programming got rid of the Jerky Shifting they tried to say was normal, until Ford told dealers "stop telling customers somethings normal when your not a Ford engineer".
SD card slot is perfect, I use it all the time. not bad when you can push a 32gb card in and you don't need to connect your ipod everytime you get in the car. Also that silly twisty nob thing allows you to interface with the head unit without touching the screen. not bad when your eyes are on the road.
Passat is a great car, it has pretty good reliability ratings as well. Quality is very high compared to the Japanese and Korean counterparts....check out any Honda look how many plastic and cloth is in it.
This guy claims the 2016 BMW X1 has seats that feel like Mahogany. His reviews are cartoons. We paid $26,900 for our 2013 Jetta Hybrid SEL in Sept. 2013. 43mpg, very driveable especially compared to our ex-2010 Prius, and totally reliable. 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds when you need it. Same suspension as the Jetta GLI. Takes about a week to get used to. Cargo space is a compromise. People who told us to get a diesel are avoiding eye contact these days.
Who am I going to believe more in terms of a car. Someone who owns the car who most likely will be biased so the $26 900 that he paid doesn't seem like wasted money, or a car reviewer who has reviewed over 100 cars and has been reviewing cars for over 10 years? No car is perfect man, yes you have your hybrid Jetta, and I am sure you love it. However, I can almost guarantee you that it has flaws, but obviously you won't see those flaws, like I don't see the flaws in my car. However, the whole point of a review is to criticize all the things that are wrong, so for next year they are fixed.
You can believe whatever you want but you can't a VW hybrid in America anymore after this year. What you are describing is "cognitive dissonance." It It can seriously harm your life if you don't rise above it. Criticisms shouldn't be made up or exaggerated like saying seats are as uncomfortable as if they were made out of wood.
Rich U get quick question I live in Canada and am going to pick his car up for $13,300 it has every option available and only has 37,000 km which is pretty good for a 2013 do you think this is a good deal and has yours been reliable any problems I should know before buying it?
I test drove this car at an auto show today. It looks like they've fixed the synthetic crawl Cooley was complaining about. The car I drove creeped forward just like any other car.
Yea the Fusion Hybrid gets about 40MPG in real world driving like the guy did in the Jetta video and so I guess turbocharging a 1.4L versus a natural 2L there's not much difference
Still waiting for a carmaker to make a Hybrid without a CVT that drives like a normal automatic car that doesn't have a Hybrid system. As far as I know only CVT hybrids act normal under city driving. That's a shame.
Im getting one next week, highline with tech. Test drove well, until I actually have it no complaints yet... Except no USB port I will buy an sd card for music
I am a VW Jetta Mk5 owner, and the car felt like a mini-bmw tank. But recent VW are very disappointing, very cheap and worse yet you can see corners being cut everywhere...
Yeah, no. I test drove the Jetta Hybrid. It's sporty and smooth and quite. No Camry comes close to that experience. And "horrendous" dash is quite nice and ergonomic in person. To me the Camry Hybrid is ugly on the outside, drives like a shopping cart and is too busy on the inside. But that's my opinion. You obviously prefer that. But don't try to project your tastes as universal....
Looks like the kids are out today. Once they drive the hybrid they'll realize it 1) has the GLI suspension amd 2) has soft touch dash. Who's the moron trying to peddle off how beautiful a Camry is? What a joke
That navi screen is such a joke, the dash is horrendously ugly, the car overall looks like it was designed by a box company. If any non german manufacturer tried to pull off things like that in a car that expensive, they would be completely scorned. In fact, they do. The new Camry looks 100 times better than this car, and yet people call it "conservative"
MY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR: IT'S UGLY. IT'S NOT PARTICULARLY FAST. IT'S NOT ALL THAT GREEN FOR A HYBRID ITERIOR IS THE UGLIEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN. PROBABLY THE THE ONLY THING I LIKE ABOUT THIS CAR IS THE PRICE
TDI + HYBRID, do it VW! Imagine the potential.

Volkswagen is the second-largest automaker in the world. They're not going to "flop."
You watch a video entitled "Car Tech," and you complain when the host actually discusses the car's...tech?

I freaking love voltswagon! A 2004 Passat was my first car :)

The brakes were a little getting used to but it was fine. The take off was surprising too. it coasts well
Passat is a great car, it has pretty good reliability ratings as well. Quality is very high compared to the Japanese and Korean counterparts....check out any Honda look how many plastic and cloth is in it.
The synthetic car crawl and power/brake delivery can probably be all fixed with software updates. Let's hope they do it

Just to add to my last....the Camry Hybrid is also more expensive. If I was going to spend that much, I go for the Fusion Hybrid.
the epa numbers are 42 city 48 highway...but it uses premium gas

i dunno man about the MPG reading from VW, especially after they lied to the EPA about their 400% over the limit emissions last year.

Hey bro its been 7 years since you post this but, how is it? How's the car running?
I like this car!
I am a VW Jetta Mk5 owner, and the car felt like a mini-bmw tank. But recent VW are very disappointing, very cheap and worse yet you can see corners being cut everywhere...
Test drive the car. I assure you it drives a lot better than your Civic Hybrid.
San Francisky? :P
can i know whats a difference between vw jetta 1400cc and 1400cc turbo?
i do apologize not a repost i saw it already on cnet on cars
why does he always say youre never gonna use the SD card slot?

The creep thing and the lag is probably the trans. Dual clutch isnt great if it cant behave like a true auto
Many of this guys reviews he nags about cars not having lightning connectors. The whole world doesn't cater to apple. other wise, good reviews.
repost?
I've V6 but my mother's in Golf TDI gets 47 mpg combined
V6 TDI in a Golf????
SD card slot? i would use that everyday.
Lol you are nuts. Volkswagen makes great cars and they have a boat load of money. But they don't like hybrids. They prefer diesels.
Make a TDI hybrid
I guess you should try one. You'll be wondering even more why you hate it. lol
2nd model up
Cooley is cool, ey?
Looks like the kids are out today. Once they drive the hybrid they'll realize it 1) has the GLI suspension amd 2) has soft touch dash. Who's the moron trying to peddle off how beautiful a Camry is? What a joke
Trillende

NICE TRY TROLL!!!!
Nothing to see here folks just an overpriced VW Jett a with good gas mileage but that's about it... Move along, move along!!
I hate this car. I dont know why though.
MY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR: IT'S UGLY.
IT'S NOT PARTICULARLY FAST.
IT'S NOT ALL THAT GREEN FOR A HYBRID

Camry hybrid rip off. Just compare them. And you know what I'm talking about.
+Jarvis Lu I have no idea what you're talking about. The Jetta does not compete with the Camry at all and it's also one size smaller than the Camry.
