    dau. it was the coldest year in 50 years. They can't figure it out. They froze! It's not hard. It was 14 degrees at night for a month. It's still freezing every night in the south. This normally does not happen.

    If you rub a manatee's back "which is illegal" they roll over like a dog, and they let you rub their belly. Makes you think they must feel every prop ripping through their back.

      Probably because this is in the crystal river which is miles inland and flows outwards towards the ocean. Florida was hardly affected at all by the spill to begin with, but inland freshwater environments especially haven't changed at all.
      The primary cause of the manatee deaths in 2013 was actually the cold snap we had.

      Don't worry. The 2013 spike might have been bad due to the cold snap (cold water kills manatees), but 2014 and 2015 have had high birth rates. The numbers will take time to climb back up, but Urfy ain't going extinct just yet ;)

    I guess the Crystal River nuclear power plant being there is just a coincidence.

    • @Tarbtano
      @Tarbtano 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jim Walker
      Actually power plants help manatees a lot by giving them warm water retreats in the winter. The water run off from nuclear power is 100% safe with the only change being its warm.

      A large cause for the higher number of deaths in 2013 was due to several sudden cold fronts. If the temperature drops too quickly, they don't have enough time to move into warmer water. Unfortunately, if the temperature of the water drops below 70 degrees their organ systems begin to fail very quickly. Despite their size, they have very little insulation (blubber) protecting them.

    we are all a part of this earth. Whether we live on land or under it, swim in the water, or fly in the sky we are all a part of this planet. As humans who cause more extinction that any other life on earth, we have a responsibility to make the world the best it can be for all.

    • @Tarbtano
      @Tarbtano 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +T Youngblood
      Well if it puts your mind at ease, humans had nothing to do with the spike in manatee death count in 2013. A vast majority of the deaths were due to a cold snap, the worst Florida has had in over half a century. Manatees can die in water colder than the mid 60s' F, and that's what they got hit with. Death from direct human cause, via boat collision, trash, etc. are all at record lows.

    Everyone, young and old, it's important that you get saved from the danger of hell!
    People of all ages have sinned, and the end result of our sin is hell, yet Jesus shall save anyone that will believe in him alone.
    Jesus Christ is the son of God (Entirely God and Man) who lived a life without sinning, died on the cross in our place for our sins, was buried, and was revived from the dead.
    Put your faith in him alone, and he will apply eternal life and forgiveness of sins to you.
