  • While the boss is out of town on business in Chicago, VIC PERRIN decides to empty the boss's safe! He even steals one of his boss's briefcases. Next, he buys (what he thinks) is a non-stop ticket for a flight from L.A. to New York, but he finds out during the flight that the plane has a 30 minute stop in (guess where? Chicago!) THIS is where his troubles begin! First (stupidly) he decides to get off the plane for a stretch, then heads for the airport lounge . . . He's horrified to see that "The Captain and Tenille" are warming up to perform another set in the lounge! Next (naturally) he runs into his boss (William Conrad) who is not only slobbering drunk, but he's been enjoying the music! Next, his boss even boards the same plane. You'll have to listen to hear the rest of Vic Perrin's blunders, 'cause I can't type another word.
    Sound quailty is good.
    Broadcast date: August 8, 1956
√✓√✓√✓√ STUFF-N-SUCH: I'm not sure (and not too concerned) whether "Tenille" or even if the "Captain" got there starts in airport lounges, but it's a safe bet! it's also a safe bet that if any fan of them reads this, they won't understand why (or if) I'm making fun of TC & T!
√✓√✓√ Here's a little more of the old STUFF-N-SUCH: Another safe bet: No other old radio channel has commentary like mine!

This is a cheerfully insane episode--the guy runs into the worst luck, but he also makes some of the stupidest decisions ever. If you had a fortune in a briefcase, why would you ever let it out of your sight? I don't know if there's any point in using a fake name to leave the country to be honest, so that just sets yourself up to problems since you don't have a fake ID. And I get that he's desperate, but killing your boss just for the faint chance of getting your briefcase back hours later seems really loony.
