Love Jake’s point about Across being part 2 of 3 and not 1 of 2.
I think they were able to pull off the cliff hanger in a satisfying way because Gwen’s story with her Dad has a satisfying conclusion, which give the viewer that catharsis while Miles’s story is set up for Beyond.

There are a ton of arguments for it being a full movie. I think the best one is that it's very much a Gwen movie, and her character experiences a full arc throughout. And to the "there's no climax" point, I would argue that the climax is actually when Miles sees Uncle Aaron. I think the plot of this movie is very much so tied to the title - Miles goes across the Spider-Verse (and ends there). My last pushback is that everyone rightfully complains that every superhero culminates in a big CGI fight against the villain. I appreciate that this movie was strong enough to leave that component of storytelling for the final film while still being a masterpiece.
    Great show!

I had good faith in Joaquim dos Santos going into this film knowing how good of an action director he was already in episodes of animated television. Man directed Korra vs Zaheer’s final battle, Legend of Korra might’ve had quality turbulence but Season 3 especially towards the end rivaled the best of the predecessor series Last Airbender.

I can't remember which Blend Game exactly it was but the one where Jake shared the story about his mom pulling him out of school to watch Jurassic Park: The Lost World after his teacher chastised him in class for reading the book. Beautiful story that I now think about whenever I see people get those special edition cups (albeit they're not as cool as the cup Jake described!). Also, very honoured to be the last mailbag question on the premium feed!! Completely forgot I had even asked that. Kevin's hot pocket skill is an excellent answer.

It's very easy to cast Shameik Moore, after watching Spider-verse, we already all know how Miles got his powers and his origin, they could just as quickly do a "let's do this one more time" sequence in the live action to catch people up, so Sony could very easily fast forward a few years to maybe college aged Miles and still cast Shameik for it.

My favorite blendgame was #NolanBlend! He's my favorite director of all time and my top 2 Nolan films are Interstellar and TDK which Kevin and Jake selected. But Sean's Batman pick made me love batman begins when I rewatched it and is now one of my favorite movies of all time. Another favourite of mine was Tom Cruise blend mainly because of how all of you guys brought up how great his filmography is and how many great directors he has worked with in his entire career. From then on I went on a tom cruise marathon after top gun maverick and tom cruise is one of my favorite actors alongside Brad Pitt and DiCaprio. The blendgames were absolutely phenomenal but I am also excited for the future of the show!! I love Reelblend so much and I hope you guys keep up the amazing amazing work. Oppenheimer!!!

Enjoyed the new format guys! I think Hans Zimmer blend is the one I remember the most, but I’ve enjoyed so many. Also, are listener reviews no longer being included? I haven’t heard one read (mine included) since submitting over a month ago. Not complaining, just curious. Looking so forward to hearing thoughts on Indy 5 soon!

Across the Spiderverse and Beyond were supposed to be only one movie, script got bigger and they had to split it in 2. That was announced a while ago and it was supposed to be called Across the Spiderverse Part 1 and beyond was supposed to be called Part 2.
So yes, its not a complete movie in the typical sense. This is pretty much Gwens movie and her arc has closure, but Miles storyline isn't done so that give a sense of being incomplete. Amazing movie tho! :)

Inspired by the blend game, for the past 3 years, myself and my girlfriend have created a category list as a way to pick what film we want to watch on any particular day. It might be a specific actor, director, genre or something we just made up. For example, in the past month the categories have been pre 80s films, Oliver Stone and Sam Rockwell and we’ve watched some great films such as It’s a Wonderful Life, Any Given Sunday and Moon. Not only is it a good way to set parameters when trying to decide on a film to watch in a time when practically any film is available at the click of a button but it’s also a way to find a reason to catch up on films that you missed at some stage of your life. We pick new categories every year on New Year’s Eve and it has become a tradition when we’re having New Years drinks together. Gone but never forgotten. #BlendGameForever

If the directors themselves said it's not a part one to a two part story and instead the second movie in a trilogy, then why is there still a discussion? Having opinions is perfectly valid but pointing at people and saying that they're wrong and you're right and continuing to make that point over and over again is just not a good thing to do.

Also, I haven't read the comics and I don't know what's coming in Beyond (nor do I want to) and my takeaway from this movie was that Miguel is a Kang/He Who Remains variant appointing himself keeper of the cannon-lines and judge jury executioner of those he deems unworthy. In short, to me, Miguel is the villain of this story, he's the worst. I'm really interested to see what happens in Beyond to change my opinion. I ❤❤❤this intallment of the franchise! (but, again, Miguel sucks #TeamMiles)

In animation, hand drawn is frame by frame. For some animation in Spider-Verse, it's interpolation like facial features. For Vulture, it was hand drawn.

Re the diversity comment, guys: what you yet need to understand is that diverse voices is not a strength on its own; talented diverse voices is. Conflating mere diversity with talent is the kind of condescendent, tacitly racist, attitude that so-called "non-white" people can smell from miles away.
That said, great content and interviews as always!

Think Across was a gimmick. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s a well made, beautifully written and crafted gimmick, but a gimmick nevertheless. The whole thing was one big tease/set up for the end scene. Also, how the hell did Punk Spider-Man pull that off having returned his bracelet and everything?!?!? Gimmick. But I loved it nevertheless.

    • @ajiteshbhattacharjee7622
      @ajiteshbhattacharjee7622 ปีที่แล้ว +3

He made it from the parts he stole at the Spider Society building. As for the tease, that's how a lot of comic books end. They end on cliffhangers and then you wait a month to see what happens next. Besides I don't think it was a gimmick cause it did resolve narratives for most of its lead characters. Gwen found her band and Miles rose above his self doubt.
