Most of the attractions in Samoa belong to families and villages - hence why they charge a fee.

Thank you for sharing and visiting our beautiful country 🇼🇸.So sorry about your poor experience with the rental car. The more reputable rental car companies do accept credit cards and would’ve ensured your car was ready for you at the wharf. Glad you got the car in the end.
Most land in Samoa is privately owned by families and villages. This includes anything that is on the land i.e. waterfalls, beaches, rivers etc. For some these families they live off their land and the money they make from charging entry fees, selling their produce etc. is their main source of income.
It may be strange for some that they are charged an entry fee, for example WST$10 fee (less than USD$4), but for some of these families it’s their only way of making a living.

I think the people of the villages are the ones that keep these places maintained/clean. Hence the entry fee. However, enjoy your holiday.

There was a broken toilet surrounded by rubbish and torn up buildings. What kind of maintenance are they doing exactly??

@@kellyjessielisa6332 The land belongs to them and their families, if they want to tax complete strangers is that morally wrong?

@@slug8914 yes it is morally wrong and it’s not worth paying for

@@kellyjessielisa6332 My families land is in Upolu, you must be an idiodic liberal to believe such things. As you said its not worth paying for, so why even aproach our islands? If you have a problem on our foreign policys then keep yourself and your dumb ideology to yourself and your own people.
