Nope, she went for an overhaul after the 1991 season and was in the middle of it when NS cancelled their steam program in 1994. Rather than let her finish the overhaul, NS cancelled it, gutted her, then in 2003 hastily put her back together and towed her to the Virigina Musem of Transportation for static display.
Thomas Bush yes she was going to be there instead of the 1218, but I believe she had a major firing issue and would have to be fixed and they rescheduled with the 1218 as to still have a stake in the festivities, even though she showed up and didn't run a train
+Shelby fan Why did 1218 travel to St. Louis, but not run any exercusions? If 611 was suppose to show up instead, then why did 1218 not pull her trains, unless 611/1218 were only there for show?
+Shelby fan Maybe 1218 was too heavy for repeated use on that section of track, so they only had her come up and then head home so she shouldn't cause any problems?

On the "Cover photo" it shows 611's outline no 1218's, was 611 supposed to be there instead of 1218?

It was part of the independence limited so I think that was train enough for them, but I could say the real reason as I don't know
