That's a very fair take, Monts. Any fan base will be aggrieved if that call is given to them. Most of the time, it would have been ignored or a warning. Rice could have done better, but these types of dead situations happen all over the course of 90 minutes. The ref should be consistent in calling as many of them yellows as possible or provide warnings then give a yellow.

I was at this game it was absolutely shambolic refereeing he absolutely killed the game
To start off, we were poor. Not clinical in front of the goal. Not scoring was our fault.
Now that we have got that outta the way, coming to the officiating, shambles. Joao pedro kicked the ball onto the pitch after it went out of bounds, didn't get booked. Countless fouls by brighton players were ignored by that clown of a referee.
Coming to declan rice sending off. Considering it was a free kick, the ball was still rolling, so it would still be an illegal restart. Declan rice also didn't kick the ball, he tapped it lightly. Instead of handing out a red card to veltman for kicking rice, kavanagh decides to send rice off.
One of the most disgraceful refereeing performances I have seen in a while.
We love to see Assna fan tears but my days that was an awful decision 💀 The ref had already set the standard by not booking the Brighton players after they were booting the ball away on the restart, why change it with Rice? Just keep it consistent and no one will be whinging.
They always seem to do this to any team challenging City. They did it to Liverpool a couple seasons back against spurs and Arsenal 3 seasons in a row, warranting an apology from PGMOL twice. City haven't been done like this since VAR M'Lord. It's no coincidence.

We as Arsenal fans NEED to hold our own players accountable.Rice has to know The Arsenal gets calls against them. Gotta be aware. At first I didn't actually know about the Joao Pedro incident so yes the inconsistency is on show once more, but I'm not changing my mind on Rice being sent off.
But didn’t Pedro boot the ball before the whistle was blown? It’s harsh on Rice but I don’t think the Pedro incident is a good comparison
