I nearly read Booster Box Video Game where you just play the economy of opening a booster box, buying/selling, watching when MTG events happen, setting up a booth with inventory, ect haha
Hello Professor, in your last Shuffle Up & Play you asked if we had any ideas for other formats. I'd like to suggest the following: A Pre-Con League with the precontructed theme decks. Starting from Tempest block until Shadowmoor. A teacher recommended this idea to me, as her students and her own kids had great fun with the non-upgraded decks. A friend of mine and me tested this with the decks we started, Coldsnap, and it was a blast. Now we're searching for the Time Spiral ones. They are just great fun and can help newer players to understand what Magic was in the different stages of it's life, while it's nostalgic for established players. (Also sorry that I post this here and not on the other video, I wasn't fast enough and hope you get to see this message) As always, thanks for your content and your continued positive influence on the community.
I was able to get the Eldrazi precon for a more reasonable $80 through a pre-order, and pulled full art Ugin's Labyrinth from the pity booster that came with it. Little did I know that was one of if not the most expensive card in the set! It was my first MTG purchase in almost a year, so the cardboard gods must be trying to rope me back in.
Congrats! Back in the day when i purchased my first Intro-Pack of Fate Reforged, after not playing MTG for years, i pulled a foil Ugin the Spiritdragon out of the booster that was in the Intro-Pack. It‘s Ugin himself trying to rope us in, i swear.
Not today MTG Gods. Likely not ever again. Nothing but $1 (or pathetically less) rares in every precon pity pack I've opened recently (and that's around 7 to 10). And I want an Ugin's Labyrinth too. Nice pull for you though.
A cost of the top 10 at the end of each box would be nice. Mostly because I watch these when I'm doing other tasks and sometimes don't look over when the chaching happens.
If it weren't for the TH-cam algorithm they should make all booster box game videos 2hrs long with the rest of the video just being a black screen that says Game Over. But that'd hurt their chancel as people will leave when the video actually ends.
As someone just getting into magic, I bought a booster pack from my local store because they were helping me construct a deck and giving me lands and a few of the cards they say are standard to use in commander, when I opened it not knowing prices and just reading the utilities, I was super happy with my pack. Even put a few in the deck!
I paid $230 for a box solely to play sealed with friends. That's where the value is - playing limited formats with friends! Never buy a box expecting to get monetary value in return opening packs - the prof done taught me that.
One lgs by me barely got any mh3 and isnt planning on restocking. Even when 2 other lgs i usually go to have them at $9-10 a pack, this store has them for $12.50 a pack and dont do a box price discount on mtg…..so that’s $450 for a play booster!! Thats outrageous when they are $270 ish. They only stay in business cuz they do store credit & cash trades and have a big backstock of singles.
Hey Prof it would be really nice if you made a updated video on getting back into magic / starter guide. Key knowledge on recent boosters, which to focus on for still available boxes. And yes I understand buying singles is way better in most cases but if your starting from scratch I don't see a downside to getting a booster if the value of it is even or more then the card value inside. I'd even like to see it as a 'booster challenge' buying 4-5 different recommended boosters averaging close to $1,000 simulating what a player would expect by spending a few months budget. Which would be really cool cause not everyone can spend 1k a month on their hobbies.
The prices really tanked. I feel its the effect of oversaturation because you cant focus on one thing before something new is pushed out. Had i spent money panic buying cards i thought wouldve sold out or increased in price, id be out probably a couple hundred. Now my cart doesn't even break 75
Some prices fell, some prices really spiked. For example, all the stupors that prof got are like 5 dollars minimum. Just give it time as formats find the cards they want
Especially since that means you're not paying for the production value of the product but for the market value as if this was purely an investment and not a game.
Oh boy, another booster box game. Let's see Prof rip some packs to some great music. Hopefully the Behind the Campus video will also have some great music! (I know it will but I gotta keep the bit up)
This amplifies the gratitude I have for opening $500 of value out of one of these. 😅 As usual, an absolutely amazing video Prof! Congratulations on 1 million, definitely well deserved!
Ive been cracking packs for fun and to support my local game stores when I go for Pathfinder night (most of them do not charge table fees, and the one that does counts it as credit towards a purchase so more cards for me). I rarely make my money back, but still have pulled a few nice cards (and a single Fetch). But its been fun as a side gamble.
Astounds me to see these fetches selling for shockland prices. Congrats on 1M subs. Well deserved for your quality content and your contributions to the community.
I bought a bundle and barely made it. No big hits, but luckily only pulled a single bulk rare. The rest were the middle value rares and mythics of the set.
I wish I were so lucky. My prerelease pack had a grand total of about $10 of value. I somehow opened 3 copies of the bad new wheel, and in two of those packs it was the only rare. I was so sad...
Hi im new at Tolarian College and I love the videos. Is it common that the editor messes with the Professor by editing in cut-ins opposite to where he’s pointing? 😂😂😂
Pretty sure your first Box was still better than the one I opened hahaha! Was hoping for any of the new eldrazi titans but couldn’t even pull an echoes of eternity. Drafting it with friends was super fun though, so I don’t regret spending the money. :)
I've begun to appreciate the Commander Masters, Commander Legends, and Modern Horizon sets for how they let WotC revisit old mechanics the wouldn't otherwise get to for years - and make it *good*, or at least give more cards to work with. Slivers, Energy, Eldrazi (twice), Affinity, you name it. And, let's not forget, full-art borderless treatments of cool characters like Tatiyova.
I'm always torn when I see you [The Professor] upload another booster box game. I find myself asking, "Why am I watching this crap?" when I see the amount paid for the box isn't met. Then, I'm reminded I watch it because I have very little self control. "Cracking" packs is fun, but watching these reminds me to buy singles. With 100% sincerity, thank you Prof, and I'll continue to watch your booster box games.
My experience with play booster box was sinilar but i had a very solid collector box. I think the pro tour will help decide whether these packs end up being valued better
Thank you for the video, Prof. Enjoyable as always. Maybe I'm feeling especially impatient today, but I don't think you need to pause and show the foiling of every common, uncommon, or basic land foil you come across. In the interest of keeping these videos as efficient and swift as they can be, of course. Thanks!
My first box 1 made my money back +100$ Canadian. Had 14 mythic 2 foil mythic absolutely crazy box. Ended up getting another box and def lost my luck. Probably didn't even get halfway on the second one. But hey cracking packs is fun:)
Oddly enough, both boxes when compared to a lot of the people that were doing cases and other box openings were actually on the lower end. Yes I know it's not a fair representation, as some of them opened them as pre-orders, but even still it's just interesting to see the ratio between good boxes and bad.
Thanks to Factor75 for sponsoring today's video. Use my link to get 50% off your first Factor box and 20% off your next month of orders! strms.net/factor75_tolariancommunity
I am amazed how you don't have a following. Such a positive attitude towards the game & market that you understand thoroughly. Believable. You know how to play! Happy!
Thanks for opening, i wanted to buy a box because of the fetchlands, but they dropped do hard, and there are so less worth, i am quite happy i bought only one booster!
Wow, Prof has finally sustained substantial physical pain from a pack of boosters to go along with the constant mental, emotional, and psychological pain associated with them.
It would be really really funny if one of these days he does one of these and its like 2 hours long, but its just once box and the other like 90 minutes are spent reading a story or doing a review of Picard or something.
Interesting. Even with some hefty pulls in fetches, a titan, and some flares, didn’t even get there. Thought this set would easily win at least 2 boxes
Store I go to sell play boxes at roughly $350 per…. Needless to say out of 3 boxes I got maybe a 3rd of the value spent…. Good news is I got 2 secret guests in one box though
I'm satisfied with my prerelease box. Got 2 Ugin's labyrinth and several decent cards like the Flare of cultivation. Gonna stop there before I end up crippling my wallet
Wizards of the Coast wants to make money by selling booster boxes and booster packs, but they give the players diminishing returns, very counter productive.
One of these days I wanna see a Booster Box Game video that’s like, 5 hours long but 4.5 hours is just the Prof silently organizing cards.
ASMR Prof Hands .... Mmmmmm.
🤘🦁🤘
Just the full sorting and selling process filmed
I nearly read Booster Box Video Game where you just play the economy of opening a booster box, buying/selling, watching when MTG events happen, setting up a booth with inventory, ect haha
Am I remembering wrong? Didn’t he do a video where he just stared at the camera? Essentially that same bit
4 hours of silence occasionally broken by "Buy singles!"
My One Million Subscriber Celebration Video goes live this FRIDAY! Keep an eye out!
congrats!
WWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Congrats on 1 Million!

I'll keep both eyes out for that video.
The best part of a channel like this: you can write off the cost of the box on your taxes as a business expense.
shhhhhhhh
Feel no shame, you worked hard at this show for years, you deserve a little treat 😂
I mean, its kinda true lmfao. This is a buisiness expense.
One of these days, the Prof will record himself rambling while sleeving up a new Commander deck and I'm all for it.
He kinda has already! He has review of multiple SLD decks and they are some of my favorites!
Every time I'm excited for a set and start jonesing to crack some packs, Prof swoops in and saves me from myself. Thank you once more, old friend.
same here!!!!
0:24 his smile is just masking his inner fear of opening mh3 boosters
I was able to get the Eldrazi precon for a more reasonable $80 through a pre-order, and pulled full art Ugin's Labyrinth from the pity booster that came with it. Little did I know that was one of if not the most expensive card in the set! It was my first MTG purchase in almost a year, so the cardboard gods must be trying to rope me back in.
Congrats ! I've opened around 10 of those boosters since they were introduced and I was convinced they were meant to be rigged with bad cards lol.
Congrats! Back in the day when i purchased my first Intro-Pack of Fate Reforged, after not playing MTG for years, i pulled a foil Ugin the Spiritdragon out of the booster that was in the Intro-Pack. It‘s Ugin himself trying to rope us in, i swear.
no luck this time around, but i cant really complain considering in pulled a roaming throne from my sample pack in Ixalan and darksteel monolith in CM
I too would find this helpful but I think they leave it out on purpose so you'll watch the whole thing
Congrats on 1 million, I remember watching your videos at 100k. I'm happy to see this channel grow so much over the years. 🎉🎉🎉
Looking forward to the Bloomburrow video being nine minutes long, since that will only mean one thing: Cheap singles in my area!
That’s no way to talk about my mom 😂
The length of this video is not promising...
🙈🙉🙊
Hes just opening them very fast!!
If it weren't for the TH-cam algorithm they should make all booster box game videos 2hrs long with the rest of the video just being a black screen that says Game Over. But that'd hurt their chancel as people will leave when the video actually ends.
@@shinigami052 Useless as you can just use your mouse to see where it would actually end
@@aleigor450 Yeah sure, if you want to spoil it sure, but for a normal video it always shows the length so it auto-spoils it for everyone
I really appreciate the small bit of extra work put in to keep flashing the most expensive card you’ve pulled so far
11:00 It's always a good time when the Prof's Dab Dab Dab music kicks in.
Future Cha-Cha might be my favorite track he uses in these videos, it always perks me up.
Since last week i collect and play mtg thanks for getting me into it brother 👏🏻
Thank you for pulling a couple of stinkers out of circulation!
Loved the modern video of shuffle up and play.
As someone just getting into magic, I bought a booster pack from my local store because they were helping me construct a deck and giving me lands and a few of the cards they say are standard to use in commander, when I opened it not knowing prices and just reading the utilities, I was super happy with my pack. Even put a few in the deck!
After opening 3 bundles and two prereleases, if I see one more Nyxborn Unicorn I'm gonna scream.
Each play booster includes:
6 Nyxborn Unicorns,
4 uncommons,
1 new to modern
1 wildcard
1 rare/mythic
1 foil any rarity
It’s hardly decent in limited
Showing all the art cards face down is a nice touch.
I paid $230 for a box solely to play sealed with friends. That's where the value is - playing limited formats with friends! Never buy a box expecting to get monetary value in return opening packs - the prof done taught me that.

Do they do preorders?
Hey Prof it would be really nice if you made a updated video on getting back into magic / starter guide. Key knowledge on recent boosters, which to focus on for still available boxes. Plot twist: Prof has a hand model double for these box openings.
I prefer the videos where he commentates while looking at each card ;-;

Also gotta keep in mind that before this they were pre-release prices, so they tend to be jacked up
@@aymanmz this... and some fell then spiked again, like Phlage.
Some prices go down, others go up and the rest barely change. This is nothing new or surprising. Lol
These boxes should cost $100 less. Just because there is a slightly higher value than standard sets doesn't mean it should cost double.
Especially since that means you're not paying for the production value of the product but for the market value as if this was purely an investment and not a game.
5:36 prof opened 6 packs barely hit 30. No fetches. I spent $30 for 3 packs and first packs was a fetch and that was good enough for me 😅
I will wait awhile to buy some singles. Thank you for the video Professor.
Here in Australia I saw a box of MH three for $588 that is $390 American dollars
Oh boy, another booster box game. Let's see Prof rip some packs to some great music. Hopefully the Behind the Campus video will also have some great music! (I know it will but I gotta keep the bit up)
Been looking forward to this. Thanks prof!
That box was so painful the Prof hurt his hand! D:
Im patiently waiting for the random serialized card prof pulls and has to make an 8 hour vid of booster box game.
It's these videos that make me wish there was a 3x speed. There's no spoken information that's technically necessary.
This amplifies the gratitude I have for opening $500 of value out of one of these. 😅 As usual, an absolutely amazing video Prof! Congratulations on 1 million, definitely well deserved!
Its the Argent Dais packs for me. Also, the lands are the ONLY thing keeping the value somewhat together.
Damn all the .20 cent rares and mythics
You can so clearly tell which ones are Commander only. Cards like Genku and Rosheen were never going to see play anywhere elde.
Welcome to modern mtg :')
Astounds me to see these fetches selling for shockland prices. Congrats on 1M subs. Well deserved for your quality content and your contributions to the community.
For repackaging cards for a draft, putting them in a small ziplock bag and turning over the bottom card works really well.
I am super excited for the next Shuffle up and Play!
9:17 I guess the prices were added before the inPhlagion
i think the fact that the top card in those boosters looks like a visa / credit card, is very funny, in a very ironic kinda way
The strongest mtg card of all
I bought a bundle and barely made it.
I‘m amazed by the low prices overall on these cards. Over here in Europe some of these have double the price tag when usually its the other way around
Pretty sure your first Box was still better than the one I opened hahaha! Was hoping for any of the new eldrazi titans but couldn’t even pull an echoes of eternity. Drafting it with friends was super fun though, so I don’t regret spending the money. :)
I love how the cards just stop moving for a little bit at 8:43. I'd probably have to stop for a bit after seeing that art as well.
I've begun to appreciate the Commander Masters, Commander Legends, and Modern Horizon sets for how they let WotC revisit old mechanics the wouldn't otherwise get to for years - and make it *good*, or at least give more cards to work with. The horn timing at 5:08 is perfect
Banging music this episode
My experience with play booster box was sinilar but i had a very solid collector box. I think the pro tour will help decide whether these packs end up being valued better
Wizards put the extra packs in so it would hurt less when you got disappointed
Remember back in og Dominaria or masters 2017 prof open like 4 boxes, now he's lucky if he can make it through 1.
Been waiting for this one :)
Thank you for the video, Prof. Enjoyable as always. Here watching this for a second time after I just watched the "success" of the MH3 collector box
Can't wait for the Collector's Editon booster game, should be more entertaining to watch that one.
Your first box was WAY better then my box. The burning is real.
DefCat - Shrimpson Boys is such a nice track! thanks for showing it to me :3
I am still waiting for a box of these to show at my local store to play this game. :)
My first box 1 made my money back +100$ Canadian. Had 14 mythic 2 foil mythic absolutely crazy box. Ended up getting another box and def lost my luck. Probably didn't even get halfway on the second one. But hey cracking packs is fun:)

You are just so stupid it's funny
huh? he's literally the most popular MTG youtuber lol
Thanks for opening, i wanted to buy a box because of the fetchlands, but they dropped do hard, and there are so less worth, i am quite happy i bought only one booster!
I like the collector booster box game more solely because we get the commentary.
Dammit, he had me. Thought we were getting collector edition booster box game.
$10 for a very large chance at a bulk rare is craaaazy
was looking forward to this since prerelease. bit of a shame it didn't go nearly as well as some of the other expensive sets
Wow, Prof has finally sustained substantial physical pain from a pack of boosters to go along with the constant mental, emotional, and psychological pain associated with them.
Congrats on one million subscribers prof.
I got lucky and pulled an Ocelot Pride from a single pack. Thank you, gods of luck. Its price has gone wicked lol.
BTW, I did not see the subscribers number hit 1,000,000!
Congratulations!
6:58 the music slaps so hard 😭😭
loving the pack opining content sprinkled in
Happy 1 million subs!!! 🎉
i truly appreciate the dominos pizza hatsune miku intro
I see “Booster Box Game” and can immediately hear “The Builder” playing in my head without even watching the video
It would be really really funny if one of these days he does one of these and its like 2 hours long, but its just once box and the other like 90 minutes are spent reading a story or doing a review of Picard or something.
I'll stand up for the prof, every way I can!
Interesting. Even with some hefty pulls in fetches, a titan, and some flares, didn’t even get there. Thought this set would easily win at least 2 boxes
I love these videos. They always help me decide against buying a box. Well. That and the fact that a box is currently $460 plus tax at my LGS. 😞
Are you kidding me? That’s disgusting levels of price gauging. I would not support that store.
I love the new MDFCs in this set!
Fun content! Have you heard that Warlord: Saga of the Storm is getting a reboot?
Store I go to sell play boxes at roughly $350 per…. Needless to say out of 3 boxes I got maybe a 3rd of the value spent…. Good news is I got 2 secret guests in one box though
Looking forward to the next stream, but lookong more forward to the booster packs i bought from you last stream.. but they havent shipped yet
And the singles prices have bombed even since this was filmed
I'm satisfied with my prerelease box. Got 2 Ugin's labyrinth and several decent cards like the Flare of cultivation. Gonna stop there before I end up crippling my wallet
The phlage you have is priced at $12.56 but it is running at 28$ for foil on the market
What set did prof open 7 boxes for
Dont forget to add the Buy a box fluster storm to your total.
Carefull Prof ... Paper cuts! 🤘🦁🤘
Going to be playing some sealed with friends this weekend using the box i got on pre sale for 220
03:41 if you've already subscribed to Factor and just want the cards b/c you're so full of yummy nutrition
Wizards of the Coast wants to make money by selling booster boxes and booster packs, but they give the players diminishing returns, very counter productive.
The issue is the fact that there are so many boxes being open, the market is flooded.
Have to say some of the prickng is def interesting and how much stuff plumetted.
Here is hoping for 20min of the professor reading a book!
