Agree with your review. I cancelled my YA and kept my adult for the sole purpose of early access. I did notice that their YA boxes started getting better towards the end of the year but their summer picks were just too crap for me to not skip so it is what it is. Meanwhile I’ve been pretty much loving what my OwlCrate boxes have been sending out including the items

That cover of The Hurricane Wars is top tier…one of their best covers.

Sooo I think everyone who is subscribed to fairy loot should actually unsubscribe because I’m on the waiting list and I REALLY want to start getting them 😂

    completely agree with you!
I only joined their sub list in March of 2023 and the majority of their book picks this year have been really underwhelming imo. Also agree that basically they give us a meh book with a pretty cover (when it has a pretty cover/edges 🥲), but the books that people are excited for they usually save them for the fairy trove. I also don't like that they only give us 4 skips every 12 months, but for example with Ilumicrate we can skips 10/12 months in the year. I skipped both Dec and Jan, but I'm getting the Feb book. If it is another Sword Catcher case with meh customizations and character on the cover, I'll 100% cancel my subscription

My first box was June 2023 and I’ve only skipped once because I couldn’t afford it, but I actually loved every single box I got and use a lot of the items i received so personally I love my subscription and plan to keep it🤷‍♀️

Loved your video, it helps with not being tempted by the pretty editions to just get the subscriptions LOL

FairyLoot was one of the first subscription boxes that I canceled and haven't looked back. While I enjoy a fair amount of their book selections, their customizations are subpar. If I want FairyLoot energy, I will turn to Illumicrate (which looks to have better picks in 2024). If you want more of the adult end, then Bookish Box's regular Bookish Box subscription (not Darkly) is the one that I would recommend. But to be chill with Bookish Box, you need to be okay with not getting the book for several months. (They're catching up, but they're not there yet.) Overall Fae Crate and Illumicrate have surpassed FairyLoot as far as I'm concerned.

That is very fair, I think I would be most interested in The Broken Binding as far as quality and selections but unfortunately their wait list is mega long now

@@aims2859 It's actually not all that bad. I signed up to the waitlist at the end of May and I got one invite in December for the Hanged God trilogy. I just received the first book, Northern Wrath, yesterday. It was quite a suprise. I was absolutely expecting to be on the waitlist for AT LEAST a year or two, before being able to subscribe. So, I was quite excited to be receiving an invite this "early". For Fairyloot, I've used my first skip of the year on the January book. I'm planning to get February and possibly March. After that, I'm not gonna be very conservative with the skips. If the book doesn't sound to my taste, I'm not gonna get it. As soon as I run out of skips for the year, I'm gonna cancel. I've been a FL adult subscriber since they started it in March 2022. I was always holding back on cancelling, because I didn't want to lose early access privileges for the books I'm actually excited for in their separate SE sales. I'm starting to be quite fed up at this point. Especially because I'm now subbed to Broken Binding, there's a very good chance I'm not going to be subbed to Fairyloot for much longer.

I feel this. I definitely used all my skips this year. With sword catcher, I put the original cover on the book.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I hated the cover. Ugh. I’m hopeful for this year with their pics this far.. so far keeping my sub.

I know it's so bad hopefully no more unimagined character illustration covers this year

Yes. It’s their adult books for me. I’ve read and enjoyed most of the YA books. I just didn’t care for faebound, a fate inked in blood. But loved their YA selection

I cancelled my adult and ya subs last year because I felt the book selections just weren’t good! And then for several months (or it seemed that way) they did the cover art on the stenciled edge. And I hate that! Do something else! My last adult book was Shanghai Immortal which I’m very excited to read. I started it once and I was enjoying it, but I’m a mood reader and something else caught my eye.
For the YA sub, some of the picks were letting me down, but it was mostly the editions that had me cancelling my sub.
I wanted to cancel my YA box after I received the disappointing June box. But they were boasting “This edition is very unique and different from our norm!” Once I received my book I was disappointed AF! They had done all the elements before so I don’t get how they could even say this. I hate when they just flat out lie about what to expect in a book or their items.
The prior month was Sing me to Sleep and they promised “This edition looks like the sea in book form and we love it.” Don’t make that kind of promise if you can’t pull through. I was so upset. I love the ocean and mermaids and sirens. This edition was pathetic.
I’m subscribed to the Romantasy box. The first book is out for delivery today! I have high hopes because the editions and selections of both adult and ya have been so much better this year! And this will be my only subscription.
