    May we all take a moment to appreciate the excellent quality of this video? The sound is marvelously clear and well mixed, the footage is gorgeous, the editing and cutting are beautifully done, the information is presented in a clear, well researched manner, and the still images placed among the video footage are stunning. Tony and Chelsea's videos continue to raise the bar of quality on TH-cam, and I, for one, am glad to have the opportunity to see their videos as often as I do.

    Thank you for the awesome review.
    LOL at the ending.
    First off, I just received your book in the mail and I love it. Going through it now.
    Secondly, it's good to see all the youtube camera reviewers getting along and referencing each other's work.
    Thirdly, and most importantly to me, I'm glad that you review these cameras with regard to pricing of both NEW and USED offerings from different manufacturers. That keeps it very real to normal people type viewers. Many reviewers shrug at the price difference between the A6300 and A7SII/A7RII like it's no big deal, but that's a lot of money even for a prosumer, and it's a TON of money for a hobbyist. I like when the review mentions the best offering in that category (7D) or used alternatives (used A7S original). That's as real as it gets for normal people and makes your channel very trusted and valuable to us regular shooters.
    Keep up the good work!

    Very surreal to see +TheCameraStoreTV +PhotoRec Toby +Tony Northrop all in the same video. I'm sure this is the case with many, but I went through film school watching your channels--and learning a lot more about videography than I ever did in school. And now I'm a working professional, in large part thanks to you guys! Keep up the awesome work.

    What are the changes of you getting the XPro2 in hands? I think both aps-c sensors should perform nearly the same.. but i would think the Fuji would get a better dynamic range for landscape and better ISO performance (even with corrected ISO).

    Thank you Tony and Chelsea for reinforcing my gut feeling on waiting for this camera. I was always wondering if the jump to the 6300 would change things, but for my workflow that is not the case. You speak of a jack of all trades and master of none. That this camera is good at a lot of things. You would be surprised on how many of your points the Panasonic flagship bridge camera the FZ1000 can fill in those needs. Just my two cents. Thanks for the video

  • @karls6802
    @karls6802 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great job!
    This is one of the most all around informative and balanced approaches to a general use cameras I've seen. Even better It has help to remind me of a sense of balance I wish to achieve in my expectations and use of photography at this point in my life.
    Sense 4K with all its largesse encumbrances is something I still wish to avoid, I'll stick with my Olympus EM-5II. Coming from the days of 35mm film cameras, and moving to the digital world with Canon T2i which I found to be a very good learning tool. I find the EM-5II a joy to use in comparison to any camera I have use previously. The stability of the 5-axis system has given me sharper pictures then I could have imagined. I find I'm using the tripod a lot less than before (less gear to carry). The number of assignable buttons, the greater ease of the menu system has made this one of the most intuitive and flexible cameras I've ever used. With a very small canvas bag (again, less gear to carry) I can carry around three lens and the camera which has translated into having the camera with me much more often. The beautiful light and compact lens with this able camera, of course has some limitations, but it sure has brought back a new sense of pleasure in photography.
    Many Thanks again, you two

    For the screen being hard to see in bright sunlight, there is a setting (in A6000) that changes the screen brightness. I changed it to the preset "Sunny Weather" and found the result surprisingly good.

Keep in mind that you need good bokeh, cinematographic takes and above all that you can edit the video to have the best quality of video offered by these two cameras. thank you.

    I'm currently in the market for a $1000-1200 camera, and considering this. I currently have a a6000, but not a lot invested in e-mount lens. I mostly do weddings, wedding video, and portraits. I like the video features of the a6300 but I'm not sure if it's what I need. 4k is nice but not needed. 120p is nice 60p is needed. still fps doesn't matter. Should I with the a7, and use a6000 for video. Thought about the new 80d but waiting for your review. or should I just wait and save for a a7s. open to thoughts and suggestions as far as set up?

    Tony,
    Just got the a6300 and noticed that when I switch from photo to video the screen/monitor both darken significantly even on auto settings and the un-edited video also seems off like your bus clip from 11:28. Seems to be fairly flat and dim regardless on if it is 1080 or 4k. Maybe the sLog is on and I don't know how to turn it off?
    Photos have been awesome, but video seem to just be off.
    Thanks
    Jon

    • @Bigboytravel
      @Bigboytravel 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony, I did a firmware update on the a6300 and it seems to have helped. The screen still dims 2 full brightness levels while filming compared the photos, however, the video itself looks correct now. Searching online, it looks like other Sony customers of various models have had this issue the last few weeks. There are also currently rampant issues downloading the paid apps with the market place.
      Still interested in knowing how to turn on/off sLog though.
      Thanks a ton
      Jon

    Bought the A6300 yesterday before I saw this video, but I'm glad I did because I may have waived over going to the A7mkII. (My bak manager may have had a comment or two in that regards!)
    I've been using a Cannon Powershot SX210 IS for years whilst the kids grew up so the Sony was a major step up into the real world of photography. Two weeks ago I didn't now my F stop from a bus stop but your videos have helped change that.
    This video confirms my descion in that I want something small and light that doesn't need a backpack to tote around. The Sony is small and light enough and I've ditched the kit 16-50mm for a 50mm prime so I can get most of what I shoot. A second hand 55-210mm OSS for the kids sports events completes my kit, for now. I've also gone out and bought two additional batteries which aren't as high a capacity as the stock Sony but I hope should cover my recreational type use. Would love to see an 'over the shoulder' video of how you use the A6300 in various type of photography. Especially like the ability of the A6300 to save regular used settings in a profile. Perhaps you could do a video showing the settings for sports, portraits, wedding functions and outdoor landscapes?
    Really liked the format of this video and I'm going to try your book to get somewhere near being able to do the A6300 justice. At the moment its a racehorse being used to deliver milk! Definitely not regretting my chioce of camera, for my needs its awesome.

    Really well done. They've certainly left room to iterate by omitting ibis. I also agree with previous statements of yours re. a focus point nubbin. They could build out the OK button, rubberize it and and have it default to the flexible spot's/ zone focus control. Leave it clickable like a game controller thumbstick.

    So I'm going to be picking up a camera mainly to produce short films and various video projects. These projects are going to be pretty run-and-gun(ish), as must amateur films are. Would this be an ample camera? Or should I be looking for something else? The rolling shutter issues concern me greatly, and it makes me want to pick something else up.

    • @TonyAndChelsea
      @TonyAndChelsea  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TehBrownCow We don't recommend the a6300 as a serious video camera because it lacks a headphone jack and regularly overheats. Check sdp.io/whichcamera for more recommendations.

    Hey Tony love your channel. I had a question I was wanting your input on. There are days when I take my camera out for some photos but might not want to drag all of my gear out for the whole day. Do you have any tips or advice for keeping gear safe from high temperatures if it's left in the car?

    Nice Review. Thanks for the pros AND cons of the camera. I get really tied of "infomercial" caliber reviews.

    Thanks guys for putting the effort and time into producing great content. ALSO, I really appreciate your "Fair Disclosure" statements to lead off the video. You build integrity one action at a time, but you can lose it all at the speed of light. Keep up the great work!

    I'm looking for a new camera - I guess. Right now I have a Sony Alpha DSLR 550 and a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM II lens.
    Well, my problem is that I want to take video, and that's a thing that isn't possible with a550. So I can't decide wether I should choose to have a new camera for my Sigma lens (and I have been looking at a6300) or a sony videocamera.
    What do you think? Should i buy a videocamera and keep my a550, or a should I choose a6300? Or should I look after a camera from Canon instead?
    I really like to take pictures, but I would like some videos too. It's of my horse in full action through the fields.
    Hope you will help me.

    One thing that I liked a lot about this review was the amount of alternatives given. Very often when Sony, Sigma or whatever invites someone to review their product, the review is something like:"Oh yes, it was the best thing ever, everything else is rubbish", while here T&C immediately mention alternatives, even from other camera makers.

    great review, I really love my A6000, the only downside has been the lens adapter for canon lenses, but besides that, I have taken this camera for most of my trips lately and made some nice videos out of it! :) Hope to upgrade soon to 4K with this one ;)

    Hi Guys... I'm currently using a mix of my Osmo + and 7D2 DSLR and Phantom 4 pro for Real Estate... really wanting to get something a little lighter in terms of camera and something that does good lower light 4K for the darker interiors... Im also using the Wing 7 from Edelkrone and my 7D2 setup is a little too heavy for that...
    Any help or insight would be awesome :)

    I'm really considering getting this as a backup camera to my A7 III for weddings. I'll eventually get another A7 III, but this would be really useful as a travel camera, too.

    I'm looking for a camera to use for both images and some vlogging at times. I've been looking at the a5100, a6000, a6300, g7, gx8... well there are a lot. What is my cheapest option if I want 4k, interchangeable lense, viewfinder and maaayyybe and articulating screen?
    Atm it looks like I'm better off just buying a used lumix lx100 until price drops on the a6300.
