Changed my air filter on my 2022 RT, which actually didn’t wasn’t dirty at al. The bike has 3500 miles on it, drove through a dust storm in Utah last week. Great video. Took me an hour to remove everything, four hours to reassemble.😬
Absolutely priceless and top quality vid. Just bought a like new low mileage 2017 1200RT and dying to know how the body work is different than my older 06 RT and my 12 GS. Can't thank you enough.
Thank you for the great movie, before I owned a 1200 rt from 2012 till 19, from this one I found a movie from max garage, now I own a 1250 from 2019, your explanation is great because after winter I'm used to take all the plastic parts of to clean the bike very good, so thank you, greets, jan from Belgium
Novice here! What a fucking royal pain in the ass...well, started that this morning. Getting that air filter plastic cover to seal is a fuckibg beeetotch....trying to figure wtf i'm doing wrong...OY!!! Ok after ducking around trying to get the "air cover lid" back on to seal around existing lip I finally had to loosen 2 bolts under seat that hold tank down so I was able to jiggle tank upwards a bit to free some clearance to seat that cover on. 2018 RT 1200. Cheers. Pain in the arse. P.S. only had 2 screws left over 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you so much for this. I have just bought a 2015 low mileage and was hoping the fairing was not the same nightmare as my triumph trophy..
Great video! I was very apprehensive about changing my air filter, but now feel empowered!

Thanks for the video. Seems like they worked extra hard to make changing your air filter a pain in the rump.
Check out changing the filter on a gold wing.
This is child's play. I wish it was this easy to replace the air filter on my '14 CTX1300. The airbox is buried inside the engine.
Thanks for the good tutorial and explanation. Although I realize you posted this 8 years ago, the video quality is fuzzy.

That’s crazy. That’s a day’s worth of work

I cut the tab off
That is ridiculously time-consuming, bur great video. Thank you. We all expect better from BMW.
Thank you just about to remove the last of the side panels to get minor damage repaired :-) Bring on the 2021RT!
Awesome from you making this AND making my life easier.
Thank you very very much!
Thanks for producing this video, very helpful!
Yeah, the filter is a bit of a pain. As for HD, I uploaded it in HD. Not sure why the quality is lower.
Anybody get a count of the screws?
Still not as much work as a Gold Wing. I wish they would put them in a remote location that is easy to access.
How often should you change or check it?
Every 12K to change, follow this schedule: www.jimvonbaden.com/Wethead%20600%206k%20&%2012k%20maintenance%20schedule%20sheets.pdf
jimvonbaden1 Thanks !
After 640 screws...we get to the air filter
T25 size?
There is no need to strip the bike entirely, I posted a video how to save time replacing the air filter.
+Alsmotorrad Bmw Yes, I realize this. The video is multipurpose. I need to demonstrate the bodywork removal as well. Thanks, Jim
I would be using a cordless to pull those screws out and not take near so long.
Thanks for the video, good job...shame its not HD though.
Geez.. all that just for the air filter.
yup, and you need to change it every three months!
2nd time much easier and so forth..
you gotta be joking... wow...
Well that was easy !😅
