This isn't a meme, it's really true for me. Yakuza 0 taught me to be a man, but also to have fun and do everything to the best of your ability - be it something serious like your job, or even something goofy like karaoke. Yakuza 0 also got me to start dancing! And the substories throughout the series taught me that I can always make time to help people out. Yakuza 7 taught me it's never too late to build something in your life and 8 taught me about making as much friends as I can!!!
“Once you're at rock bottom, the only way forward is up.” It may seem like a no-brainer, but that quote got me out of what could’ve been my breaking point. Now im feeling more proud of myself and i owe a ton of it to Ichiban Kasuga
When you strip down the typical RPG/Brawler insanity, these games really do teach good lessons. They always make it a point to keep the main cast human, and it really does mean a lot to me.
I feel like Kiryu's storyline teaches how to be a man, how to puff out your chest despite all the trouble you're going through and push through. Also how to teach others to be stronger themselves and never give up, to stand up for what is dear to them. While Ichi's storyline teaches how to be as a person and a friend, someone who's not all that strong and durable can still take the beatings life throws at them as long as they have friends who they can share the hardships and joy with. Ichiban spreads positivity everywhere he goes and while in real life that's straining as hell he doesn't seem to mind the exhaustion from doing that. RGG made 2 similar characters while making them very distinct from one another in more ways than i can count. There is no way something like this should go unnoticed.
it never fails to shock me how they made one of the most badass main characters ever and after a decade of him, they were able to make a new main character that surpasses him in likability. ichiban's existence never fails to shock me
Honestly, these games really make you a better person. I was very bitter angsty 16 year old who'd be negative all the damn time, never take responsibility, always blame others and then I'd played my first yakuza game, being Y0 and flash forward 3 years and I've really made a 180. I'm happier and am more optimistic than ever and I gotta say I credit a good chunk of it to Kiryu and Ichiban. These games have taught me a lot of what it means to be a good person.
So true, Yakuza 0 was the turning point for me too. Before that I adapted a very serious and stoic persona, it was embarrassing even typing it. But after Yakuza 0 I learnt to have fun and always try out new stuff, just like Kiryu tries pocket circuit racing and dancing.
I hate how Kiryu has inspired me to become better. Aside from his Yakuza antics, he's a humble man with a good heart, but will also go extreme lengths to protect those he cares about. I'm like this, but his bravery and confidence is something I aspire to have some day
why did they change what kiryu says about the drink? making it sound cool in english but the japanese version is more akin to somebody who knows it's a problem but can't refuse a drink because they've been doing it so long
It’s actually pretty similar in the context of what’s happening and why he says it, it just sounds weird without a bit of knowledge on alcohol serves. Drinking hard alcohol with ice actually makes the “burn” stronger, despite being colder. It mellows out the flavor and makes the alcohol content itself more noticeable. The typical temperature of whiskey in particular is standard because it’s easier to drink at room temp than chilled, so Kiryu “feeling the heat” is literally feeling the heat of the beverage, not the burn from the alcohol. It just changes the phrasing in a way that sounds nice, but it definitely comes across weird when you don’t think about it.
Boy do I love the judgement/ like a dragon series (hi guys. Yakuza fan here)! Infinite wealth was Ok. just the Ichiban ending is a bit confusing for me. So question: Should I accept the ending? Why so?

They're three types of people...
1. Those who are hard as steel like Kiryu.
2. Those who have a heart of gold like Kasuga.
3. Those who are both.
And 3 is the rarest out of all of them.
