Great video. Great word!! Question- have you thought about having a subcontractor help you just on bigger projects? Maybe you’ve addressed this in the past and maybe it wouldn’t work. Apologies if you have. I know employees can be expensive. As a GC I chose not to have employees. I hire licensed (if required) and insured subs for bigger projects. Keeps the cost down. No extra financial overhead that pertains to employees.
Hey David thanks for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed it! I have thought about subs to help but timing is the problem. Everyone else is so busy it’s hard to coordinate my schedule with theirs. I’m with you on employees it’s just more than I want to deal with. I do enjoy working by myself and not having to worry about anyone but me.
I understand and agree waiting on their schedules can be difficult. Personally I’ve started my projects and do all that I can until they can get there. Seems to work okay and I have less waiting time, but admittedly I’m in different field of construction than you. Either way, praying for good jobs, profitable jobs and great clients for you! God bless Sam!!
Got to love them jobs that you're excited to start at first but Midway through turns into a real pain side note got to haul my first load in the new truck the other day looks good buddy
Those teeth do work 😃💪💪💪 Once you climbed on top... I take it you are not a fan of heights ? 🤔😵 Cat showed you the way, trust the tracks !!! You had a decent pile at the end, now just to move it..... 🤯😂
Right Alex, I’m definitely not a fan of heights. Just a lot of things to go wrong up there like that. I got rid of that pile already plus an even bigger pile that I moved too. Wow, that was a lot of material to move…
I'm just making a suggestion from someone that does a lot of dirt work you might want to think about getting a ripper attachment for your excavator not trying to tell you what to do just think it would help you might be surprised
Cliff I’m with you on the ripper and it would work great. I had one for the 308 that I had. But, the problem I would have is moving the material. The 313 doesn’t have a quick attach system so knocking out pins going back and forth would be a real pain. I do agree that a ripper would have worked great…
Thank you Michael and glad you are enjoying the messages. It makes it all worth the effort to know folks are enjoying the videos and message. I get it from different places. Sometimes from the local Ag COOP in Athens and sometimes from the local Soil Conservation Office.
Bryce, some excavators with quick attach systems you can do that change quick and easy. But this one has pins and would be a pain to change back and forth… Thanks, Sam
Just curious to why you didn’t top load the truck from the bench so you didn’t have to handle the material twice? No hate at all keep the great videos coming
Hey thanks I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. Valid point and I would like to have done that except the climb up and down that hill all day would have been rough and time consuming. Would have been ideal for a helper to run the haul truck… Thanks
I only just started watching your videos and I am new in the business here in Indiana; I noticed you unrolled your geotextile directly over vegetation and topsoil. I understand the point of geotextile is to keep the ground and your road base separate, but I did not think you "can do that". Can you talk me through your decision? Genuinely curious and trying to learn. Thanks.
Hey Elijah that is cool that you are getting started in the business. I talked about why I did it that way in the video. I will check and see exactly where it was and put it in another comment…
@@tristardiggin Hahaha you know what as soon as I posted my comment I pressed the play button to continue watching and you started explaining. I'm watching it now. Thanks!
Hey Sam, good job. Lots of volume to move on this site 🤪 Since you have the 313, you take big projects but I also like small projects ! 😁 Sorry, you certainly explain it in your videos but it is to build what ? Hard for me to understand as I use an English translator to speak.
I still like doing the small jobs occasionally too. Building a pad for a shop and a one bedroom apt. The road up the creek is just to have a place to get rid of the excess dirt from the pad location. Thanks

To refer to an earlier post...A lady once wrote her autobiography in four short chapters. Chapter One: I walked down a new street. There was a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fell into it. It wasn't my fault. It took me a long time, but I finally got out. Chapter Two: I walked down the SAME street. There was a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fell into it. It WAS my fault. It took me a long time, but I finally got out. Chapter Three: I walked down the SAME street. There was a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walked around it. Chapter four: I walked down a different street. Sometimes, we have to take a different street; so, that might be implementing Plan A, Plan B, Plan C, or in her case, Plan D. Not to be discouraged, you finished digging out that slate wall that put up a pretty good fight, but you persevered, learned, and applied that knowledge. Romans 8:28 "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose." May the Lord Bless you Sam (and your viewers) and keep each of you safe. Until next time, Mike&Pat

@davidwarner7057 Thanks David, I appreciate the prayers and pray the same for you!
God Bless,
Sam
Way to get it whooped Sam!!! Glad your making good progress now!!! About to be the time of the year on a big project the AC be nice on the Hog!!!
Thanks! I’m making some good progress on it now. 😀 You aren’t kidding the Hog is going to need the AC soon!
Hi Sam, you make dirt work look so easy. Were those replacement expensive? Keep up the good work
Thanks Rick!😀 The new teeth were a bit pricey. Both sets were a little over $900.
Got to love them jobs that you're excited to start at first but Midway through turns into a real pain side note got to haul my first load in the new truck the other day looks good buddy
Hey Eric, that is great to hear you are using the truck now! This job has been a good one for sure. Keeps you on yours toes for sure…😀
Those teeth do work 😃💪💪💪
Once you climbed on top...
Dynamite ... 😆
Jim, that was my first choice and would have been fun! 😀
I do agree that a ripper would have worked great…
That’s why they invented cat and heavy equipment for for climbing hills and to get the dirt moved
Yup 👍
Hi Sam good to see ya
Hey Jim, hope you are doing well!
So far so good
Yup, it’s coming along nicely…
Great video! I really appreciate all your messages. Can you say where you bought the roll of road fabric? Thanks so much!
Thank you Michael and glad you are enjoying the messages. It makes it all worth the effort to know folks are enjoying the videos and message. I get it from different places. Sometimes from the local Ag COOP in Athens and sometimes from the local Soil Conservation Office.
Last couple videos of this job I imagined you would turn the bucket around and dig upwards from the bottom
Bryce, some excavators with quick attach systems you can do that change quick and easy. But this one has pins and would be a pain to change back and forth…
Thanks,
Sam
I like the way those teeth look on . That’s a much better system
Steve that is right! First time I have seen this style and I really like them…
Just curious to why you didn’t top load the truck from the bench so you didn’t have to handle the material twice?
No hate at all keep the great videos coming
Hey thanks I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. Valid point and I would like to have done that except the climb up and down that hill all day would have been rough and time consuming. Would have been ideal for a helper to run the haul truck…
Thanks
I only just started watching your videos and I am new in the business here in Indiana; I noticed you unrolled your geotextile directly over vegetation and topsoil. I understand the point of geotextile is to keep the ground and your road base separate, but I did not think you "can do that". Can you talk me through your decision? Genuinely curious and trying to learn. Thanks.
I guess I should add here in Indiana I rarely use geotextile due to the clay here just below the surface of the soil.
Hey Elijah that is cool that you are getting started in the business. I talked about why I did it that way in the video. I will check and see exactly where it was and put it in another comment…
@@yaktuallyat 36:20 I talk about why I did it that way…
@@tristardiggin Hahaha you know what as soon as I posted my comment I pressed the play button to continue watching and you started explaining. I'm watching it now. Thanks!
Hey Sam, good job.
Lots of volume to move on this site 🤪
Since you have the 313, you take big projects but I also like small projects ! 😁
Sorry, you certainly explain it in your videos but it is to build what ?
Hard for me to understand as I use an English translator to speak.
I still like doing the small jobs occasionally too. Building a pad for a shop and a one bedroom apt. The road up the creek is just to have a place to get rid of the excess dirt from the pad location.
Thanks
Oh man thats a lot faster way of taking teeth on & off the buckets . I'm so old school that I'm used to the pins in the teeth .😅
Mack from West TN ..
Would be handy if you change them out a lot
Yes beating the pins in with any type of hammer is for the birds
@@BlakeConnor my dad & pop was too cheap to buy a hammer to break concrete with . We were always replacing teeth on a track hoe bucket or crawler loader bucket due to working for a concrete contractor that didnt even have a skid steer at the time.
I would see where the new style could be a pita to change,if someone didn't change out a lot of teeth
@@johnprue Yes sir that's for sure . I beat my share of pins out myself .
@@B422TMack we dig in a really sandy clay a bit and can go through a set in a couple days. But tiger teeth are no good digging around pipes so end up using chisels as it’s a pain to change between the jobs even second day.
It ain't got no gas in it" - Slingblade... 😜
I love the vintage 1/2" drive breaker bar - I've got one just like it from a lifetime ago....Back when Craftsman was a different tool company.
Y'know -- After all this, you know for sure this man has a home that will NOT settle ... Is Matthew 7:24-27 applicable here ?
Yup, that was my Papaw’s old pull bar. It’s cool to still be using his tools. That is right for sure. That is a strong foundation to build on…
PRAISE JESUS CHRIST IUR LORD AND SAVIOR AMEN HALLELUJAH GOD IS GREAT AND MERCIFUL AMEN
Thanks Adam and I’m with you on that! Amen…😀
God Bless,
Sam
Just find it ofd you roll filter cloth ontop
Of topsoil... whats the point? Inless the topsoil is a inch thin or something, and the rock will just punch and rip thru it.. would have been easier to cut the topsoil out, I dont know thats just what Ive come to notice
Yup, I understand what you are saying. And normally that would be the case. At 36:20 I talk about why I did it that way…
Thank you Mike & Pat, I appreciate that and also thanks for the latest book y’all sent!
God Bless
probably would have been worth parking the jcb at the bottom so you could put all that overburden straight into the back. Im also not a dirt man so i might not know what im talking about
Isaac that is definitely the more efficient way to load and haul it. But, in this case, hiking up and down that hill all day would have eaten up a bunch of time as well as ended my day early from being worn out…🤪😀
You scare me with those balancing acts. Whew what a message. Good for me.
Roxy, I scare myself sometimes too! 🤪
I kept saying to the phone to get on top and dig it, but you couldn't hear me, lol
I finally heard you Randy! 😀🤪🤣
@tristardiggin I see that. That's some hard digging right there! Looking good!
Howdy Sam
Hello Tugboat…
You need a single shank ripper brother
I agree, a ripper would be nice to have for a job like this…
Thanks
What do they call that style of tooth with that locking system?
Good question Blake, I’m not sure what they are called. But I definitely like them…
I HOPE YOU HAD YOUR SEATBELT ON???
Most definitely! 🤪
As long as you go right straight up a hill like that hill and you go right straight back down that hill you can climb any hill to get it taken down and don’t go a lot sideswards with equipment because it will tip when I worked I use to be an equipment operator and I use to love to take the equipment and climb up hills with it and to tell you the truth I didn’t have any fear of taking it up or down any hill I was an equipment operator off and on my mane job was that I was a logger and a laborer My neighbor had a bunch of cat equipment and sometimes he would have me cut trees out of his way for when he was building roads and horse arena’s and house pads I did such a good job for him and I worked really hard for him that he came to me one day and said Jamie that’s my name anytime that I needed the equipments help with something he told me to feel free to operate it if I wanted to I didn’t know how to place the dirt or know how to operate the equipment he didn’t wind up showing me how to operate it he just let me learn on my own I operated a d6n and a d7hseries 2 cat dozers for him long with his 950g wheel loader and his 320 excavator that he had that type of business wasn’t was doing to good for him so he wound up selling all of his equipment and for me logging and laboring and avocado farming was coming to an end and getting hard to find work and people that would pay me for working for them so I just wound up retireing people took advantage of me when I was in the work force I’m glad that I’m out of it
Sounds like you had some good opportunities to run the equipment. Appreciate you watching and supporting the channel…
Sam
Sam - the alphabet goes from A to Z - what plan are you on now with this project??? lol
Well Allan, I think I’m starting over at “AA”…🤪😀
How’d you mount your drone controller on there?
I got it off of Amazon. It’s called a drone bike mount. Designed to attach to bike handle bars. Just have to find the right one for your particular drone…
Looking at what your doing ???? As well the your preamble to clear the top and lift the layers from above in order to get road rock.
Although I think/wonder if a ripper for your hoe would work better producing larger rock for your road/s. That way lasting longer ????
Thanks Edward, I appreciate you watching and commenting. A ripper would work great for tearing out that rock…
Sam
You need some ANFO and a drill!
Yup, that would be a lot of fun! 😀
I got to view and comment 1st! Woohoo!
Ralph you were definitely quick on the trigger on this one! 😀🤪👍
To bad you didn't have a ripper on the dozer
Right, a ripper on the dozer would be nice to have…
Thanks
Sam, if you could mail me about 2,000 tons of that rock, I’d appreciate it. Sure could use it 😂
Yup, you could definitely use it! Some good stuff…😀
@@tristardiggin finally got my dozer I’ve been needing. Can’t wait to put it to work. Be blessed Sam 👍🏻
@joeyfort2467 Sweet, you can do some pushing now. Will check it out…
Question ??? Who lead the Nation that broke/tore down the Walls of Jericho ???
GOD
Well, ultimately it was the Lord and Joshua was leader of the people…
Great work by the 313.The Rapture is a event restricted to those who trust Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and everlasting life.
Thanks! 😀 Yup, I’m with you on that…
Are you going to pull a Chris and auction your teeth on eBay
Randy I didn’t know he did that! Wonder what they sold for? I might get a nickel for each…🤪🤣😀
Why so much face time let what you did with machines be the star of videos
Some like the explanation and some don’t…
Thanks,
Sam
Just a suggestion, get up top side an dig. The layers are running uphill. Those rock teeth Otta roll it right out.
Thanks Kerry, definitely right about that. It worked out great…😀👍
You probably realized it before I did.
You certainly made progress .
Nice job.
@kerrysullivan6294 Thanks! 😀
