there's lots of theories, you guys should check out twitter and tumblr for theories. heres a few:
1. jin is peter pan, and the rest of them are the lost boys. and when bts are happy and having fun finally, jin's job is done basically.
2. the storyline is actually backwards. it starts with run, then the prologue, then i need u. jin dies in run, and the prologue is a purgatory for him. then in i need u, the other members are dying bc jin died and jin is in heaven or something (he was in the white room).
3. the butterfly effect (good job bryson). basically i need u & run are two different alternate ways that their lives play out. in i need u, jin was gone, they were sad. in run, jin was there, they were happy.
4. everyone is dead.
5. jin is the only one alive, and hes reliving his memories.
6. when they are apart, they all have really sad lives, but when theyre together, they are happy. so they go to like a different dimension to be happy or they hallucinate the others? idk

RUN - SONG & MV ARE PERFECT BEYOND WORDS, mind you. We ARMYs felt every emotions in it. You might think we're over reacting, well heck yeah we are. Because we are ARMYS. ARMYs & BTS are one. We take care of BTS just like they take care of us.
the takes place after the prologue, and Jin is the only one alive imo. if you rewatch it with that in mind, the scenes and concept will piece itself together. some believe that Jin is the only one dead and everyone else is alive, but that doesn't make sense to me

the song and the video are amazing but, the MV has a lot of simbolism, it's "the second part of the prologue" if you don't wach the prologue you are not going to understand the whole story behind, in the prologue we think Jin is the only one who survive, but in this MV Jin died!!! The other boys suffered and were on the edge of death after losing Jin
0:16 the suffer begins and the pain is so deep as the deepest ocean. It's so deep that it's almost immposible to survive.

2:28 Jungkook got himself together and accept Jin's death, trying to help Suga to accept it too. He knows Jin is still there and will always be in their hearts.
3:06 Jungkook can see it. Everything and everyone disappeared. Nothing is as it was.
3:29 J-Hope is just closing his eyes and going back to the past as it was.
4:22 Jin driving behind them lighting the way and being behind them to pick them up when somehing happens.
4:41 the bathtub Jin throw Jimin in and V who was also in it, reminding him of water and wanting to drown, just like Jimin drowned himself in the bathtub in ´I need you´
You can see everyone is suffering from Jin's death.
5:04 Only six of them are walking and the light behind them is Jin (ghost, soul, dead) with his car who is following them. Jungkook turn around and smiles at Jin. Jin is closing is eyes, because Jungkook assured him with a smile that they are okay now and that he can leave them now and go to heaven.
5:24 V finally escaped the pain! and also
7:04 The past when Jin was still there, but now at the photo he isn't there anymore. Jimin is burning the photo and letting Jin go.
Everything they do, graffiti, parties, bathtub, water, card games, pillow fight, just lying there,.... everything reminds them of Jin, making the pain unbearable. But as you see, they survived the pain.
Run and Run.... like we did in the past, that's why they can't stop running anymore

So my theory is this:
I think all of them are dead except for Jin.V is the water drowning because he jumped at the end of the prologue.And Jhope faints at a bridge in the 'I need you' mv, I think he dies there and in this video he wakes up in heaven and finds Jimin there too.And he is smiling because all the suffering is gone. I also think that Jungkook was trying to help Suga but Suga didn't want his help. At the car scene,the cars were honking not yelling at the boys to go away because the boys aren't really there. It's only Jin who is blocking the road.Jin is living in the memories he has of the boys,when they had fun together and after the mirror breaks and the cards fall,he understands it was all an illusion. And Jungkook at the end is smiling to Jin and telling him goodbye and that it's okay to let go.Also in the picture in the end,Jin is missing from the photo.That means that all the other boys are dead and Jimin kills himself in the bathtub,just like in the 'I need u' mv.I also believe that the story is not in sequential order.I think that they mixed them up to confuse us more.

I listened to the album before watching this video and after listening I told someone that the song Outro: House Of Cards was musical nirvana. Then I watched this video to not only see references to the song but also a nod to Nirvana, so clearly I am genius. No but seriously. I love the story telling quality of these videos. The story is that Jin is the only one dead. Everyone thought that Jin was the only one alive after I need u. But in this video it's shown how Jin died and the other members were upset and some tried to kill themselves

My theory is that Jin is the only one alive.He is only hallucinating because when the other members were vandalizing the cars , that guy yelled for Jin to move his car (in korean) so the people from the cars were only seeing Jin blocking the road , that's why they didn't get out of the car to catch the other members "vandalizing" their cars.You could see Jin filming here too like in the prologue and he wasn't in that picture at the end because he took it.
Also the house of cards that Jin made , thinking of their Outro:House of Cards , they said that the house of cards is something they're trying to be happy in even though they know it will break.V destroyed it and that makes Jin get out of his dream for a few seconds.When Suga and Jungkook are fighting the cards fell and Jin looked like he knew something was wrong.
Jungkook was looking back at the end , maybe at Jin with a smile like "you need to move on hyung and forget us" They were leaving Jin.
And V was drawing an "X" on Jin at the beginning.Why on him?Because Jin was the one that wasn't supposed to be there with all the death members.(we know that the others are dead because of the I need you MV and the Prologue)
But this is just my theory.It could be that Jin is the only one death but i think he is the only one alive because of that guy yelling at him to move his car.(i took this translation from someone else)

You probably didn't notice but Jin wasn't in the picture that Jimin burned up even though he was in the scene where the picture was taken. The same way that Suga wasn't in the picture that Suga and Jin took together in the prologue.

I like all the theories and stuff, and there are blatant nods to previous videos in the run mv, but I think I prefer taking this mv as just a display of youth myself.
That's why all the intense excitement, anger(almost like mood swings, actually), rebellion, and friendship and such. Obviously all things we experience as humans in general, but imo we experience these things even more intensely as teenagers and young adults.
Watching this mv is almost like a flashback for me personally. It's like my teen years flashing before my eyes lmao.

there is the Peter Pan theory that i've read that makes a lot of sense especially bc Jin only seems to be watching them at times. like Jin is Peter Pan and the rest are the lost boys. so many theories and they're all really interesting.
and according to Jungkook in the MV making, INU was like the happiness in sadness while Run is the sadness in happiness
the timeline doesn't make sense but the beginning scenes of the prologue and Run make it seem like they're in chronological order. the prologue starts with V after stabbing the guy and ends with V jumping into the water, and then in Run V falls in to the water

So yes Jin is the one dead. In I Need U, it shows how the members are grieving for Jin that they want to end their lives. In the Prologue, Jin was in heaven, the other world. V said "I need to see you Jin hyung." Then they went to the place and when Jin was there, they were hallucinating. In the end when Jin took a picture it was only himself and not them cause he's in the other world. Run shows how they cope with Jin's death and Jin guiding them. Jungkook punched Suga to make him accept the death of Jin. Jimin burned the picture because he cannot accept that Jin's dead but he's moving forward. THAT'S IT. BTW BIG BANG SLAYED IN MAMA. MUST REACT!

So basically, Jin died. I need u was all of them coping with his death. In the prologue, Jin has the camera because he is like seeing through heaven. Jungkook and Suga were fighting because Jungkook was trying to get him to accept his death. At the end where he looks to the car, he's saying bye to Jin and accepting his death and saying he will take care of the others. The picture only had 6 not 7 because Jin wasn't really there. The house of cards knocking down after the chair broke the mirror symbolizes Jin's death because he is the Butterfly like on one of the cards. There are more detailed theories on each of the videos to make more sense.
