The conversation about accountability was very enlightening. I sometimes feel like a failure to everyone around me (friends and family) and apologising does feel like I'm adopting that identity. Andrew's takes are always eye opening, but this one was emotional for me. It was definitely the 'brilliant' part of "The Brilliant Idiots".

Andrew got that explanation straight from couples therapy, I promise you. It's how we explain the differences between a partner who apologizes easily & one who does not. People won't apologize if they believe it means internalizing a "flaw" that caused their "bad" behavior, therefore making them a bad person. A healthier way to look at it is that you're simply apologizing for momentary bad behavior or a mistake. Of course that becomes harder to do & harder for your partner to believe if you repeat the behavior or it's something serious (like stealing or gambling or infidelity)

He will use up and coming artist for their authentic music style and then move on to the next. He will literally steal people's exact cadence or lyrics and not even pay homage or give a shout out. He will hire ghost writers, and when he don't use them he gets major backlash bc the music just ain't it. I mean if your going to use writers just give them credit. If you're going to use others lyrics, style, trend..just give credit. Kendrick however, actually cares what he puts out. His music is authentic. His lyrics mean something. They have a message, a purpose. His goal is to provide music that the listeners need to hear. He dgaf about record sales. Number 1 hits. Making the next banger. Because his music is literally for the culture. Drakes music is for himself.
