- The Promise: A Docuseries on Childhood Cancer will take a look at the truth behind childhood cancer from a 360 degree perspective. We will hear from children with cancer, their parents and siblings, doctors and advocates. This documentary series will be broken down and cover a wide range of topics spotlighting the different parts of a child’s cancer journey.

I just googled to see how she was doing and I saw articles about her recent passing. And by recent, I mean yesterday. That's eerie. I'm so sorry she had to endure such pain in what should have been the happiest and healthiest years of her life. Just from the glimpses I saw, as a former ballet dancer, this young lady had the technique and elegance that would've taken her so far. I hope she is at peace and that her family is, at some point, able to find a new normal without their beautiful daughter. :(

Doctors brushing off patient concerns about cancer possibilities has probably cost thousands of lives. I always read stories about doctors saying it's a cold or you're just depressed or whatever else...only to find out a few months later that it's terminal cancer. Timing is critical to successful cancer treatment.

It was good that her mom pushed for that MRI sooner because she loved her daughter so much and wanted to get help to find out what was wrong. Such a loving family. Their daughter was lucky to have a perfect family who loved and she new it.
My Aunty was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and my uncle was diagnosed with non Hodgkin’s lymphoma and they both said yes to accepting my sons stem cells which brought them a extra 5 years life. My Aunty passed Last June and my uncle passed in April 2020
I’ve had cervical cancer stage 4 twice in 11yrs n now I’m in remission for last 2yrs

I hope the medical chief had a talk with with his staff that was brushing her off. It's a child life. The ppl who stared at the poor mom on the ground and didn't help are assholes. I hope they get their karma.. Good job to her parents who kept pushing and pushing. Inspiring and brave women!!!
Rip , I lost my son to cancer he was was bleeding which was polyps at a very young age then had bone cancer had leg amputated then cancer spread then he passed away it will be his birthday next month and his anniversary in June I miss him so much, I also lost my nan, dad and sister to cancer too, my mum passed last year . Lost my baby grandson, too.
I am so, so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is the most catastrophic thing a person can go through. And you can never get over it, it is about learning to live with the scars. Kids should bury their parents, not the other way around. I lost my little sister to liver cancer, she was 4 years old. ❤
My mom passed away at age 63 from cancer, and my father is battling bone cancer, but it has spread. I HATE cancer.....

@@NickanM I'm sorry for your loss too I hate cancer so much too. we have a genetic condition now brother is terminally ill .I have had most of my bowels removed and my stomache has been removed just hope I dont get it in my bowels like the others.yes it should be other way round.
This makes my blood boil. This poor kid had stage IV cancer. No one is cured once it spreads that much! They tortured her for 18 months for what?

Childhood cancers are not given the same priority as cancers that affect adults . When the money comes into agencies , the amount issued goes to childhood cancers and rare childhood cancers is about a 1/5 of the total issued in resesrch grants . Elizabeth's family went through unbelievable stress , but remained positive . Its definently a journey of ups and downs when a family member has cancer . Many hours at the hospital , sleepless nights , always having the fear of losing them during a crisis , it's very difficult . Bravo for the mom and dad thst stayed strong through the fight ! I pray Elizabeth is cured 🙏 !

The majority of funds goes to breast cancer. Childhood cancer treatments have very little funding. Very sad. Keep fighting, beautiful!
Right. Breast cancer receives the most funding by a landslide. I'd be entirely shocked if one person out of twenty random people knew what month and ribbon color is for childhood cancer.

Yes, so much attention and fundraising for breast cancer. Yet this cancer rages on. Still in 2021 no cure and many women are stage 4 with metastasis. So many have fought and passed away with no end. With all the research and fundraising why isn't there a cure?
@@lorij6796 cures aren’t profitable. Sadly it is up to private and university run research to find them because the money is not the fist thing on their minds.

I wish people who don’t truly care for people wouldn’t work as a nurse, doctor, teacher, or any profession where their attitude/actions have the ability to break an entire family!
I’ve experienced teachers who shouldn’t be teachers. I’ve experienced medical professionals that only chose that career for the salary and it’s ends up being devastating to so many people. How any person could chose to not do everything at their best ability to help someone is beyond me! As a doctor, as a human being, seeing a patient sitting in the chair for chemo should never be seen as money in your pocket. Having a patient check in for chemo when they’re not healthy enough and it’s not helping anymore just so you get paid is disgusting. It should be a crime.

I've met them too. I had a phys Ed teacher in kindergarten/ 1st grade come in the room and throw a small ball at the kids. It would take up our whole chest/stomach. He had an incredible throw. HE would make us run around, freeze & hit us as hard as humanly possible. He told us don't you dare cry and threaten us. He hit a boy 1st and he fell over screaming & crying. That mad him more mad bc someone could here that. Then he hit me. I didn't fall over or cry out. It stung so bad. No one knew he was doing that. He seemed satisfied I didn't. He would come in a rage into the gym & do that. They paid him to abuse children basically.

Sadly Elizabeth has passed away leaving her bright soul and personality on her community. Another child lost to soon because of the lack of funding for child hood cancer.
Elizabeth, You are a very strong and sensible young lady! I volunteered in a cancer unit, but there were no young people like you! Over time I realized the tone ‘of spirited’ patients did go through with their treatment and stand tall just as you are doing! You are certainly meant to be a dancer,,,,a dancer you will be, because that is your passion! I will be praying for your strength and the day you are cleared….it has surprised me to realize that many, many patients do get well…absolutely well…keep up your spirits and love to you and your very strong family!

Now in day's you have to be flat out rude towards medical staff in order to get thins resolved otherwise they will push you around and never give you answers.
I hope this family has been given extensive trauma care. Mom is entirely traumatized. Everything happened so fast, they didn’t get proper care. 😭

A good friend of mines son had neuroblastoma too he fought for 6 years. Unfortunately they got turned down by st Jude's too. They had to do a trial at Seattle children's.
How could a family get turned down at St. Jude? I thought St.Jude never turned any child and family away EVER. I thought they were on the he cutting edge of cancer technology!🤔🥺🤢😭
@@deliciaford4343it depends on what trials are available, it’s not a regular hospital it’s a research hospital. Your child has to be referred. You’re confusing it with “no child is turned away due their parents inability to pay” part.
One of the worst fears is the fear of the unknown.
Once a patient + their family walk into a hospital the control they have over their lives ends + they CAN become victims who are scared, confused, + feel like they are in a nightmare where painful things are done to them.
Their experience depends solely on having staff who give the patient back their control by promising to always explain procedures before they are started. This should include what the procedure is, why it's being done, + what the patient will feel.
Doing this before every procedure should greatly reduce their fear. It's the same with the info be given about their VC diagnosis. Only after all the necessary diagnostic tests have been completed the
"team of Dr's, etc" on the patients case should meet to discuss the case, diagnosis, plan of action + then meet with the patient + family to inform them of their diagnosis, plan of care, + answer all questions.
Usually certain tests are performed at different stages during treatment to see if the treatment is working + if it isn't make adjustments to the meds, etc.
To go through 18 months + then test to see the effect of treatment is not what I've seen in other documentaries.
It is very sad to hear of this young girl's passing. It seems to me that her case was mismanaged + her parents
should, if willing, contact a lawyer be for a possible malpractice suite.

The worst thing is went through hell and so did you and watching them loosing hair vomiting. And you lose them. The treatment is not fair. Hopefully if the can't find a cure for cancer soon at least make treatment easier.

I’m not clear why the family did not pursue St Judes as they are the front runner in childhood cancer and there is no cost to families

Because St Jude's is not what people think. You have to fit into a clinical trial. They get paid by the trial sponsors. They do not take insurance so if you don't fit into their trials they won't treat even if they have one of very few machines (Proton Beam) in the country (1 of 26 at time). I know this because my daughter was denied life saving treatment by them. God bless Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Actually they do take insurance now. What insurance doesn’t cover the hospital covers from donations.

Most of the time they are automated so that’s is why the inaccuracies. It’s too expensive to have a person do it so only comercial movies or documentaries with enough funds have correct close captions.

I had lots of piercings that I couldn't take out on my own, I had to remove with a special tool for my MRI. They said they would blow out from the radiation.

I have 17 Piercings and 2 guages. I've had a few MRI'S this year so I just took out the Piercings and only have the guages in because the just slip in and out.
MRI have very strong magnetism. That's why no metal can be worn.

Not all of us do.Im not looking for any sympathy as I know lots of people who feel this way. It can be very hard being a doctor-please don’t boo or jeer-We too are humans and try so hard to do what we think is the right thing at the right time..
It’s rare that major illnesses are diagnosed quickly unlike minor ones like tonsillitis,they tend to evolve after time and tests.
It’s often a no win situation.Yes it would be a great idea if everybody had an MRI on a regular basis,but if the results are normal people tend to complain about the cost to them and why was it done in the first place for no really good reason.
However if it’s not done the medical profession are wicked people.
