I am not officially muslim yet. Yesterday I went to the mosque for the second time with my muslim friend, and I was actually quite afraid to pray. My friend took me to the side of the line and I followed her. Mashallah it was actually easier than I thought. I didnt really know what to say, so I just made dua for my sister and family. May Allah swt make it easy for me to take the step and be honest with myself

I Have low vision (legally blind) and went to Mosque for the first time. I was a little nervous on the way but as soon as I met the Sister I had spoken with on the phone, my anxiety disappeared. She was so welcoming and friendly and eager to show me around, introduce me to the Imam and his wife, a few other brothers and sisters and even had a welcome kit ready for me. I had called to see if the local Islamic library had any large print materials to further my knowledge as soon I plan to do Shahadah, InshaaAllah, and ended up spending a good couple hours chatting and hunting down a large print physical copy of the Clear Quran from a publisher she regularly deals with when purchasing library materials as she quickly realized that though she was prepared to give me a copy of Quran, the print would just be too small. I admitted I already had a regular print copy and then she insisted to call the publisher friend herself to ensure I get a copy I can manage. I’ve never had anyone work so hard for someone they just met. It’s heartwarming. Mashaallah

I am in the USA, so I don't know what the situation was like in the UK or other countries. When I took Shahada in 1994 in the only mosque in my area that I knew about and could get to, converts tended to be generally ignored. Not repulsed, just not particularly welcomed, either. They tended to remain quite isolated. There was no one I really felt comfortable talking to (and was not well formed in the first place), so when I began having problems, I was alone and eventually drifted away from Islam. As far as I know, my experience was not particularly unusual for that time. Whether it is any better today I don't know, as I am out of touch now. If you and other converts are welcomed into the mosques, you are fortunate.

If that were not the case, then why do we have teachers, counselors, and sheikhs?

That is why it is important for the true locals to be in charge of the Islamic / Muslim affairs and establishment. Your problem still exists today, like in Japan and Korea where non-local immigrants are controlling local mosques for 'economic' reasons and seeking 'immigration refuge' rather than spreading the words. IMHO, local mosques must be controlled by locals.

@@Iamamuslim3590 If any newly reverts dont feel 'welcome' in the house of Allah swt, then something was wrong with that mosques commitee (which I believe run by immigrants). Good tips. I agree completely. The various styles of dress for sisters in the Masjid really depends on who was there to work/prepare food etc, who had plenty time to dress before hand, and those who came and have to go straight back to work afterwards. This video was great. I'm going to be hitting my 3 month Mark as a Muslim shortly and believe me, I was wondering what was up with these things as well. My first time at Masjid was when I took shahada, and I think I was well dressed, but the leaning forward for prayers and hijab relocating itself is a real struggle. I have a2 piece for prayers at home. You did a great job explaining for "newbies"

Or more interested in Western concepts like democracy, liberalism, neo-liberal economics, social justice, feminism, BLM, secularism, freedom of speech, capitalism, etc?

Today lots of Catholics and Christians are converting to the Islamic religion and becoming as Muslims. This makes me feel proud and happy. After they become Muslims they take their time to read books of Islamic teachings, trying to learn Quran and understand its meanings, searching Islamic books that relates the past happenings during the time of Prophets and their way of life. The Catholics and Christians already carry with them good feelings towards others, good thinking, good heart, helping others, helping feelings, never utter lies, always follow the correct path in their life and things. In most places they are following the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad (Sal) even before they embraced Islam. Today our original Muslims are still studying the lessons and teachings said by our Prophet Muhammad (sal) and still those teachings are heard, studied and later not practicing or simply forgotten. These things are widely happening now. So I feel so much happy to see the Catholics and Christians brothers and sisters embracing Islam. When they come into Islamic and become Muslims, they bring good hearts with them, I mean they come with good feelings, good heart, good terms, good thoughts, as helping hands, as helpfully people, as honest people, as innocent people, as kind people, as truthful people, as pure hearts, as nice people and then they become more and more closer to Allah. There are differences between the Original Muslims and the those who embraced Islam. I always want to get United with Catholics and Christians brothers and sisters who embraced Islam and to deal with them throughout. They are the Muslims who gets closer and closer with Allah, I mean the Catholics and Christians who embraced Islam

l have the same dilemma as a recent revert. My Muslim girlfriends live in another city, at least an hour drive from my home, so I need to find a masjid nearby to call home. I have emailed the nearest masjid and even though they responded quickly to my email, instead of responding to my questions about classes for new Muslims they asked me if I lived in Phoenix. I was hoping that the masjid would let me know when it was a convenient time to visit the masjid and have someone to meet me. I totally understand about mosque anxiety. It's not the same as visiting the mosques in Istanbul as a tourist.

Hi! My question is: Can I go to the mosque / to the prayers even though i am not a muslim? What do i have to know about it? Will i have to do the washing and the right form of prayer, or is it not even appropiate to come if i am not a muslim? Since years i do have the wish to go to friday's prayer in a mosque, it even appeared in a dream, and i am unsure if i finally should and can make it come true. May you be blessed and thanks for your videos.

Hi Mazita, non Muslims can go to mosque anytime. Just wear modest clothes will be sufficient. But some mosques opened during specific timing, i.e during 5 daily prayers and Friday prayer, therefore if you know the mosque number and make enquiry about visitation, that would be great. You can go to a mosque during Friday, and just ask anyone in the mosque for help, tell them it is your first visit and what is your intention. I think many Muslims will help you and show you around, Insya'allah. May Allah make it easy for you. Amin

I’m still nervous to go pray in the masjid 😬 My issue is how do I pray with someone leading the prayers?? Do I say anything aloud, do I only say certain things out loud, do I remain silent throughout… How close should I stand to the next person 😰😬😅 Help!! The on,y thing I DO know when someone else is leading, is to wait until they’re done with one part, then you do it after…like bending down, going into sajdah, etc.. But everything else I mentioned above, I have no clue 🥺

    • @qamarabbas9314
      @qamarabbas9314 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You will say your prayer silently (not loud) behind imam (the one who is leading the prayer) and follow the imam in every part of the prayer.
You can stand with next woman with just touching your shoulder to her (not too much apart).

I don’t know anyone and I don’t connect with people easily. No one was unwelcoming, but they didn’t go out of their way to talk to me. I guess the burden of that is on me, so probably won't be making any friends. It’s not a requirement that I pray in a mosque, so I just stay home. Not how one makes friends, but at least I feel relaxed. Also, I don't lead myself too fast, often whoever leads prayer goes too fast. I don’t need it super slow, just a clear speech speed, sort of like the speech in this video or a touch faster. I understand people have work or family to get back to, but 40 seconds longer at prayer is not unreasonable.

I go to the mosque and people look at me as if I have never worked in my life or like I'm on government benefits.
This was mostly the case when I moved to Liverpool, Merseyside.
I actually invest in properties and other investments but they just look at me in an unwelcoming way just because I might dress down at times!
There are some very friendly Muslims in the mosque too but some of them see like they aren't very accepting of me.
