This film is a perfect dream where beauty and horror complement each other. David Lynch directs from the subconscious, and it transcends understanding without being devoid of meaning. This movie made me fully realize that film is not just something to be analyzed to death, but something to understood through emotional experience, and it will likely remain my all-time favorite film. Thank you for a fantastic and beautiful tribute to great cinema as always!
Not only the best David Lynch film of all time. Not only one of the most beautiful films of all time. Not just one of the best films of the decade or century. One. Of. The. Best. Films. Of. All. Time.
Just finished watching it and I don’t get it at all. I’m not spending my time rewatching it, but I’m going to watch a couple of video essays. None of this film made sense to me. Maybe Blue Velvet will be better.
@@name-tn2or "Synecdoche, New York" is another sublime diamond of a film with surrealist themes. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was definitely overlooked for his performance. P.S. Did you know Sally Hawkins called both of these films some of her favorites?
The saddest movie ever, because it shows so pure human emotions from the true depth of the human heart and mind, which most who has had their dreams broken and hearts stabbed can relate to. That's why it's also so heartbreaking and so unbearable but so lovely at the same time.
This is how my dreams representing my emotions look like. Takes an outrageous deal of psychological effort to visually express your purest form of thought.
@Jarred Knox its one of the few films i saw (and i sae many) where i was aware of the power of cinema while i was watching it. Films should be an artistic experiance. Lynch just takes you in, cant explain it better
I love Mulholland Drive!!! One of my favorite books uses the Club Silencio scene to explain what cinema is and the link between art and life. Think about it. Everything in the cinema is false and yet real. Its tone is enigmatic and even a little intimidating because what it announces is an act of alchemy: the transmutation of prerecorded images and sounds into experiences so true that they cause tears and convulsions. Sometimes they change the course of a person's life, others affect entire generations. Some films shed light on the enigmas of a society and elucidate the mysterious corners of the human.
Awesome! Lynch always gives a great assertion that ‘reality is not real”. Nothing is. Just the false sense of idea. To explore our existence reality is a main obstacle. May be I am being too self absorbed. But, please tell me the name of the book.
@@wernerheisenberg9756 Misterios de la sala oscura (Mysteries of the dark room) - Fernanda Solorzano. The book is written in Spanish because the author is Mexican, but its still worth reading.
My absolute favorite movie. Thank you so much for these, the juxtaposition of the main theme with silent excerpts from the movie makes for a sweet moment
@Jarred Knox To me it just sums up everything that's tragic about the life of a person with low self-esteem in any given industry in a way that's uncompromising, dreamy and gut-wrenching. I fell in love with the beautiful dark place the movie was trying to explore and I love the brutal changes of atmosphere through it : they give us clues that we're actually witnessing a fantasy where everything is artificial, with a dark truth foreshadowed at every corner (as suggested by the filthy homeless man) Everything about it gives me peace and heavily moves me at the same time, it's got that anxious meditation quality to it (and I know those words are not supposed to be used together)
Do the beauty of Se7en! One of the greatest examples of atmosphere in neo noir. You could uses bach's Air for background music or maybe Closer by nine inch nails. Love your work keep it up
