The image quality of the prints is amazing. I bet if you used photo paper on the magazine print the copy would be just about identical. Another excellent video Dave.

Correct me if im wrong. The difference between the best mid range Brother printers (DCP-L3550CDW 18ppm bw/c, MFC-L3750CDW 24ppm bw/c + fax & DCP-L8410CDW 31ppm bw/c) is mainly the speed? Are there other similar printers that i forgott or maybe different brand who also make reliable printers that can use third party toners?
I have had one of those for almost 5 years now, and it's been excellent. I have used compatible cartridges and really I've no complaints, and the only really significant missing feature is a double-sided document feeder. It's fairly jam-proof and the software just seems to work and never had any problem with set-up. It is, of course, large and heavy so you do need the space for it, especially on those few occasions you have one of those paper jams. However, like all laser printers, don't expect top-quality photographs. If you want that, I always advise using an online printer. However, for colour graphics work that you might use in posters and the like it is great. For really fine colour graphics, such as you might produce in a detailed wiring diagram, the limits do show on resolution, but that's going to be true of any colour laser printer of this type. Of the major colour laser all-in-one units (although it's technically an LED printer), then I think this is the best value in its class.

Would you know why my envelopes are printing sideways on this printer please???? I've tried everything! My envelope is all set up correctly, the printer is set up correctly. When I go to print it, the text is printing across the envelope at a 90degree angle to where I want it.
If you want to do border-less/full bleed/edge to edge on a laser printer, you'll have to print on paper longer and wider than letter and then cut it down to letter size. There are some inkjet printers that have the border-less printing capability. Just be aware that in order to do border-less printing, the printer has to over-spray the paper. The over-spray is usually collected by a special sponge that is usually replaceable. That will be an extra consumable to purchase if you do a lot of border-less printing. If you want to do it on the cheap, you may consider just printing to regular letter or legal size paper and cutting the border. Some people may not notice that the paper is slightly smaller than letter.

Get the mfc l8690 cdw I just got one on amazon. Double automatic scanning. It doesn’t even flip the page. Super quick. Sucks in the page and give you a double scan in one scan.

Thanks for your comment. There were no issues with this. I just review so many items that I cannot keep them all, so this is in storage. I still highly recommend this, if the speed and features meet your needs it’s a solid choice. Maybe check with Brother, they can advise you regarding print volume, features, just in case a different model would be a better fit.
Thanks for the review, I've decided to buy this model as I need a colour laser MFP as I am fed up of inkjet costs, quality and durability. It also does walk-up printing from a pen drive and you can also scan to a pen drive too so that's really handy, especially if I'm running late and having to print out handouts/notes for a seminar without having to start up Windows. How durable did you find the Brother - did it last long or was it "disposable"? The reason I ask is that I bought a huge A3 Epson WF-7710 3 months ago and it's already terminal. I've contacted Epson tech support so hopefully I'll be able to print in A3 again, but Brother lasers are usually very durable, but the new colour ones seem to have a problem with fuser failure after about 10k pages. I've recently seen an ancient 2001 HL-1440 STILL in daily use at an office so the old models last forever. Your reviews are pretty comprehensive and very good quality, a lot better than a lot of TH-cam reviewers out there. Very professional, comprehensive and done without theatricals and empty hype that you tend to get with a lot of other reviewers who spend hours talking about anything other than the items they are reviewing, so that's a breath of fresh air.
Laser printer doesn't do well with photo paper, It will melt it. There is some glossy paper that work with laser printers, but can't be called of photo paper.

Can you turn the automatic duplex function off? I like duplex, but i would like rhe option to disable it.

No, this printer (and most lasers I know of) don't offer borderless prints.

The yield is based on something like 5% toner coverage. So if you printed a 100% black page the toner yield for that cartridge would be a lot less.
