The biggest disadvantage of NPS : NO LIQUIDITY. Mutual funds, except ELSS, are 100% liquid for all trading days. I have no use for money invested which I cannot redeem when I need it anytime.
You can redeem partially subject to conditions. Keep a separate fund for such conditions. Might be if you can't withdraw, that's the beauty of product, forced retirement savings. Otherwise kuchh nahi bachega.
I received nps welcome kit today.I was shocked about two things. First - It's mentioned that in Active choice,i can invest upto max of 50 percent in equity, not 75. Second - The lumpsum amount at the time of exit from nps is taxed at your marginal rate of tax 😢. What does this mean? Please explain.
Hello, all withdrawals are taxable. If it is within 3 years, it gets taxed on the basis of STCG and as per investors tax slab rate and if it is after three years, LTCG at 20% is calculated. I hope this answer helps😊
