I don’t give a damn what y’all say. This show is GOOD. I’m a huge fan of the original, and didn’t like this at first until I watched the entire first season on Netflix. I really do love this show now and watch it every week when it comes on.

I truly appreciate the new Charmed for using Latin bases spell as opposed to just trying to find a cute rhyming spell to fix everything. I love the OG charmed but these new Charmed Ones have waaaay more zest flavor!
I can see where you’re coming from, but I have to disagree. While Latin spells may sound cool and give the impression of being more "authentic" to magic, the fact that it’s a dead language means only a handful of people understand it, which totally invalidates the use of spells as a plot device in that they serve no purpose to the story and could essentially be gibberish for all you know. At least with the original series, the English rhyming couplet format of the spells functioned both as melodious to the ear when cast and something the audience could understand, which offered a deeper appreciation of the story. For example, "the power of three will set us free" is clear as day in its objective and execution. When cast, the audience fully understands its use. "Potentia Trium" on the other hand, doesn’t enlighten the average viewer to anything because for all they know, it could mean anything, or it could mean something about trees. There’s no appreciation of the moment or the spell in the story, because who knows what it could mean. Another perfect example would be "in this night and in this hour, I call upon the Ancient Power, bring your powers to we sisters three…", which fully reveals not only the intention of the spell, but the importance of the timing (full moon & midnight) which we later find was essentially. 8:16 I mean Marisol could be ordering pizza for all we know.
In the original Charmed they followed the Wiccan Rede, it mentions in it “to bind the spell every time let the spell be spoke in rhyme.” It was more than just a “cute rhyme” it had a purpose for the rhyme. The Latin sounds cool in some spells, but I thought it was super cool when they did an exorcism in Spanish.
I loved Season one. For all its faults it was a lot of fun, it was campy. It's a shame that the CW meddled so much with it after that. Too many cooks in the kitchen and I don't think they could find a team that was right enough to do it. I would have loved to have seen where the s1 girls would of gone with their powers and exploring Hilltowne and their backstory which we never got. A lot of missed potential with this show but there are some gems in that first season and a few toward the end.
Since the Vera sisters lost their powers in season 2 i expected offensive spells to be use often but instead they rely on other methods like pepper spray and when they finally did it took ingredients they can't waste "sigh"
i find it annoying how mel never used solaris encantantio again. i liked the premise that if they only had defensive magic (just being able to stop time ) that they would use other spells for offensive attacks and then they just never used it again
The writers aren't competent. I remember the guardian of the Book of Elders saying there was healing magic and we never got to see any of that, especially since that would've been useful, especially with Harry wanting to be mortal.
She never used the solar charm again because she didn’t know how to control like the elders Because she was still a begin- and remember Macy almost died because of her using that spell the wrong way

The magic in this reboot is more diverse and witchy than in the original, which is all just throwing vanquishing potions and blowing up demons. Infact every episode in the original series is the same, just told in a different way.

Though this is only my own opinion, I must say that this spell was well-thought-out and well-written, especially with the three deities invoked all from the same pantheon - the Mesopotamian Pantheon, as well as how each sister respectively invoked the deity with whom they - or, at least, their powers - share a particular affinity with: Mamitu is the Goddess of Fate and Destiny, so it would make sense that Mel - as a time witch - would be the one to invoke her. Inanna, on the other hand, is the Goddess of Beauty and Love, so naturally it would be Maggie - as an empathic witch - who invokes her. Anu is the God of the Sky as well as the King of the Gods, so who else but Macy - as a telekinetic witch as well as the oldest sister - should invoke him? Yes, I honestly and wholeheartedly believe this to be an excellent spell, and it is a pity that the sisters did not invoke these deities again when they had to reunite the Source to save all magic from dying.
I love the Latin spell casting I hate the overuse of CGI ... and I honestly love Macies character I love her acting everyone else I feel like they threw a bunch of randoms together ..the show has potential it’s just toooo extra ... and also it would t receive as much hate if it didn’t have the name charmed they kinda messed it up for this show by naming it that (just bc ppl don’t like it doesn’t mean they deserve mean names we can all agree to disagree)
They should have kept the rhymes. You can tell that they started adding them later on more after the viewers were pointing out how they didnt like the latin chanting that much. My greatest pet peeve though are the ones in spanish. They are very cringy to a native speaker. It's ok with latin since it is a dead language anyway, but the producers should check with a spanish speaking person (not hard to find at all in the US) if the spells sound right. For instance, there is this one they like tu use "Descubre el camino secreto" which translates to "discover the secret path" but they meant to say something like "uncover the secret path" and that would be "Revela el camino secreto".

The powers and spells displayed in S1 were great. I feel like they did too much too soon stripping the girls of their powers, when we were just getting to know them and understand their powers.
They really did. I don't know why they had to lose their powers in S2. It should have been S3 that really took a drastic turn. S2 should have explored their familiar relationship more especially with extended family history

Reboot Charmed CGI effects are no good. They should've used the old effects from the Original series. Reboot Charmed needs to get cancelled imideitly for the to create a new Charmed serious. It should be about the Season 9 comic books and focus on Chris, Watt and Melinda.

alexjhon They had spells in the original that were in Latin, not by the sisters but other magical people. Most spells are said in Latin for authenticity. Imagine hating a series because the sisters or anybody is speaking a different language.

Reboot Charmed CGI effects are no good. They should've used the old effects from the Original series. Reboot Charmed needs to get cancelled imideitly for the to create a new Charmed serious. It should be about the Season 9 comic books and focus on Chris, Watt and Melinda.
