We are going to retire to the Philippines in 6 years and move to Cagayan de oro to live a quiet life. I don't know why there are such skirt chasers but they are everywhere wven here in California. Good for you, Bud! The Philippines can support most every lifestyle imaginable, from mild, to wild. That's a big part of it's charm, IMHO! I have been able to "compartmentalize" my friends, and family as well, out of necessity . Picture a Venn diagram, using yourself, Henry(Reekay), Ned(Philippine dreams), Marco(Overstay Road), and any other of your fellow Vloggers. The intersection would demonstrate how much more you have in common with, say Henry, than with Marco, for instance! I choose to spend much more time with my married, tea totaling, friends and family, than my skirt chasing, bar patronizing acquaintances, since they march to a different drummer, and I don't care too much for their music! I try to avoid passing judgement on the choices of others... . .

I just sent you a friend request. I am Mickey Harman (Michael Harman) and I am one of the guys living that simple life for 7 years in Cebu. I have a wonderful wife Marianne and three children with her. I Had to return to the USA as my heart was getting pretty bad and painful, and I need medical attention with the entire family living in Reno Nevada. Mach 15th I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. Still recovering. Not sure if it would be wise to return other than for yearly vacations. We plan to buy a house in Dumaguete and use it as a vacation home. Marianne's cousin and best friend will live in it and care for it while we are in the USA. From early days of US military in Philippines there have been decent US folks retired in PH. And still you can find some older decent guys married to Filipinas. But TH-cam has given attention to PH in a way that has attracted many many skirt chasers, drunks, deadbeats ect. Unfortunately, some of the worst is now in dumaguete. TH-cam has cast Philippines as a place for cheap women, cheap booze which attracts sleezy men. Its a real shame cuz your channel Bud is such a great channel. Your channel is what youtube was meant to be. But its not only Philippines. TH-cam is opening the world to all the cheap booze, cheap women countries in the world. No more innocent peaceful paradise. Thailand has gotten so bad that the govt has had to tighten visa requirements to limit foreigner stays to 30 days. Vietnam is a newer choice for the cheap booze, cheap women crowd.

Good for you, Bud! The Philippines can support most every lifestyle imaginable, from mild, to wild. That's a big part of it's charm, IMHO! I have been able to "compartmentalize" my friends, and family as well, out of necessity . Picture a Venn diagram, using yourself, Henry(Reekay), Ned(Philippine dreams), Marco(Overstay Road), and any other of your fellow Vloggers. The intersection would demonstrate how much more you have in common with, say Henry, than with Marco, for instance!
I choose to spend much more time with my married, tea totaling, friends and family, than my skirt chasing, bar patronizing acquaintances, since they march to a different drummer, and I don't care too much for their music! I try to avoid passing judgement on the choices of others...

I too am kind of suspicious of the characters you normally see hanging around and flashing their cash at the various cafes situated along the Boulevard. Call me old fashioned if you like but I stay well away from that kind of environment enjoying instead my wife’s company at home in our garden or out shopping or simply strolling together, hand in hand. You said it, normal regular family guys keep a low profile and tend to mind their own business, staying out of troubles. Easy to differentiate after conversing only a few minutes...

I just sent you a friend request. I am Mickey Harman (Michael Harman) and I am one of the guys living that simple life for 7 years in Cebu. I have a wonderful wife Marianne and three children with her. I Had to return to the USA as my heart was getting pretty bad and painful, and I need medical attention with the entire family living in Reno Nevada. Mach 15th I had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. Still recovering. Not sure if it would be wise to return other than for yearly vacations. We plan to buy a house in Dumaguete and use it as a vacation home. Marianne's cousin and best friend will live in it and care for it while we are in the USA. The plan is to come every year around Christmas and stay at that house for at least 30 days. Bud send me a Facebook message if you read this.
From early days of US military in Philippines there have been decent US folks retired in PH. And still you can find some older decent guys married to Filipinas. But TH-cam has given attention to PH in a way that has attracted many many skirt chasers, drunks, deadbeats ect. Unfortunately, some of the worst is now in dumaguete. TH-cam has cast Philippines as a place for cheap women, cheap booze which attracts sleezy men. Its a real shame cuz your channel Bud is such a great channel. Your channel is what youtube was meant to be. But its not only Philippines. TH-cam is opening the world to all the cheap booze, cheap women countries in the world. No more innocent peaceful paradise. Thailand has gotten so bad that the govt has had to tighten visa requirements to limit foreigner stays to 30 days. Vietnam is a newer choice for the cheap booze, cheap women crowd.
