Explanation for The Beta Project that started with Troubleshooting: The idea is that they release the songs live first BEFORE dropping the studio versions, so there's Closed Beta (3 concerts over a weekend with fans encouraged to take fancams and share online), and then Open Beta (the album/single dropping on Mondays immediately after). So far we had Troubleshooting as Beta 6.0 at the end of April, Boy Comics as Beta 6.1 in early June and Love and Fear as Beta 6.2 last week. As far as we know Betas 6.3 and 6.4 will happen in August and September, and we're speculating that they'll put all these single releases onto a new mini album in the fall (presumably with some sort of "stable release" theme name). An extremely nice advantage of this release scheme is that we have live concert clips of the entire album on their official channel already!
I agree completely with you. Even though they might seem "little" as a group that came out of big agency, they are not idols and a K-rock band which even in Korea, not as followed as idols or even trot. For having album sales of their entirety discographies almost reaching 500k, that is massive success. Sure, they might not have bigger influence locally or internationally, but if we compare it to another K-rock band which might even older than them, they have already been in the train of success. Seeing their production cost of an album, even in just a single, having multiple mv, multiple streamings, behind the scene, touring outside the country, invited to festivals, DOING MUSIC SHOWS (this cost hell, not even small idol agency can provide a month long, also the company, group, or songs need to have the influence to be in music show), own a youtube variety shows and etc. are rare things to be seen even for western rock band (unless they are already a legend and famous). I do agree with them having not appreciated enough for their musical talent, like NMIXX. But if we're talking about success, they have already succeed way more than few or maybe most of their seniors, mind you they are still almost a 3 years old group, barely can be said rookies. Also, I do think their success is not just because of JYPE but riding the train of Day6's success in Korea and internationally. If Day6 isnt as successful as it is now, I dont think people will even look at them that much except particular genre or sound listeners. Even Day6 debuted with small margin of viewers, album sales, even fans. They are gradually becoming who they are now after 10 years of running and hard work. Of course, Studio J contributed to this as well. Even though Day6 and XH songs arent exactly the same sound, Myday always supported them as well.
Oh man i agree with you and i really hope they can blow up with time because they are sooo good for a (almost) 3 years long band! And they are something different! They have a unique style that you can't find in other bands and maybe people will be more curious about the k-rock world in the future (at least, i hope so). They are so underrated :( I hope more people can listen to them and become a Villains 😊❤ This is a experiment Project, they realise one song per moth. The boys acctually now are in a tour for different countries and have several concerts around the world, maybe that's why JYP dont put more effort in promotion. However, it is important to understand that the industry works like this, some larger groups like straykids and twice feed smaller groups like xdinary To improve their promotions, but we must assume that rock in general and bands will never sell at such a global level as pop or its derivative kpop 😞 Also they are a very new group, only have 3 years, It is a product in full growth, we have to give them a couple more years to mature and perhaps see them in some lollapaloza and more relevant events in the future😊
I don't think they're doing concerts in any other countries except US and Korea right now, right? US for the showcase and then the three-day Korea concerts for the introduction of the new song each month.
Even in Korea, band, rock, metal, punk aren't their general genre of music, unless it sounds poppy (pop). Even in general view of music, only rock ballad, or pop rock are viral nowadays.

For the release schedule, they seem to be doing a thing that Day6 did years ago where they do a series of singles and concerts over the course of 6 months that ends w/ a new album. Day6's was called the Every Day7 Project, they would release a single every 2 weeks followed by a weekend concert series at the start of the month for 6 months, then those singles along w/ a couple new songs were compiled into a full album. XH's Experiment project is slightly different in that they're only doing 1 song a month (so far we have Boy Comics and Love & Fear) w/ a music video for each one, so if they continue for 6 months they'll either put them into a mini album or maybe do a full album but just add more new songs to it in addition to the singles.

Also, technically they are idols because the promotions and company are the same as your typical idol group. Plus the leader has said before that he does consider them idols. However, the unfortunate truth is that because they're not only a band but also making rock (and other subgenres) music, they will never be as popular as other groups, especially in Korea. I'm hoping Studio J starts marketing them way more to international audiences because I think the rock music will absolutely blow up. I don't want their style to change at all, but even something like Studio J putting immediate subtitles on their content (behind the scenes, variety content, etc) might help a LOT.

Agree with everything you said, John. Xdinary Heroes are one of my top two favourite groups. I think they're certainly the most talented 4th gen group (my opinion). You're absolutely correct, they should be huge. They are unique; you won't find any other group that sounds like them. Most people just stick with the top groups from the big companies. I'm a little late to the party here, but I consider them to be kpop, but only as a subgenre while their real genre is k rock. The same goes for Day6 and The Rose, they are all in the subgenre, but they are all in the krock genre.

IDK if I'm right but I'm pretty Sure the ones i listed have put a stamp in the Korean Music industry by being K-Bands
