White america and Stan (Elton john version) are great. Gotta love D12, Bad Meets Evil or any of his features (as you said) though. Eminem Show was my first ever CD lol, guy at CD plus told my dad “parental advisory” was a warning for light swearing haha.
I just read the title and I already know the answer. 2 things: 1. Eminem is off of drugs now and he's not drinking. He's completely sober. 2. Eminem recently said in an interview that he just doesn't have that anger in him that he used to have. So he won't be making that kind of music anymore.
The Giggling Horse Sure. You are obviously wrong. Eminem already explained it in an interview but I guess you can just believe whatever you want about it.
Of course not but drugs did gave him the creativity to express his anger which he lack now, because he's sober. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him that he's free of his demons and addictions but since he's sober, from 2008 to this day, well he lost something and we can feel it through his music.
"Because in my opinion, in order for the real Marshal to rise, the real slim shady must sit down." That was perfect, like the end of a movie or some shit. Gave me chills.
Bood Hernandez Same but his voice changed so we won’t ever get that again. Eminem also said he won’t do that flow anymore in the Ringer, and in an interview because fans will say that he’s too old to be Shady again
Wow that last comment "In order for Mashall to rise the real Slim Shady has to sit down" now that line should be in his song. That line was deep because it's so true.😆
But yet the whole time he saying he and everyone wants slim shady. So let's bash Eminem because they want slim shady but then end video saying slim shady must sit down....
The thing is that Eminem doesn't want slim Shady any more. Hell, he doesn't have Slim Shady anymore. Because all that Shady was, was a little bit of Em mixed with some hard liquor. Shady was the rage, the immatureness, the insaneness, the drugs. The guts to say everything you want to say and then getting away with it. And that is gone. Whether he likes to admit it or not he has matured. He's grown. And he's kind of lost the touch with how the music industry works nowadays. In the 90s you could run around insulting relevant people and everyone would be on board. Nowadays people don't stay relevant long enough for anyone to shit on, let alone someone from another genre. If you asked people 20 years ago: "Name ten famous people" you'd get at least 5 of the same every time. Now name 10 famous people, and then sort those out you could make fun of because they have fake boobs, blonde hair and 5 brain cells tops. Insult-humor doesn't work any more. Individualism killed Shady. And maybe, just maybe, it killed rap. Why be angry, why be mad, why stand up, if there's nothing to stand up against? Some people don't like, let's say, Lady Gaga. They don't go hating on her. They just say "well" and then go listen to somebody else. Nobody listens to the radio any more anyways. So we're all in our musical bubbles and faze out. Maybe attacking Justin Bieber or one direction would still work, but there's nothing to gain from it. Everybody's done that, everybody knows. So there you have it. I just let loose a whole tirade without coming to a point. Because I don't have one. There is nothing to be fixed, no easy solution. Just a try to explain what might be going on. Thanks for reading.
Brown sugar Dumpling Not really. Slim Shady has been sitting down ever since Eminem overdosed. The only way I can see him bringing back Slim Shady is by getting back on drugs. Slim Shady was unstable and entertaining. That is something Eminem's recent songs lack so he tries to fill the void with autotune, singing and features.
its sad really. nowadays he just tries to be an influence and like some weird pseudo-politician trying to make people agree with him and "change the world" instead of trying to do something actually influential or interesting with his talent like he used to. maybe it was just the drugs that made him good back then. "b-but d-donald w-why not r-respond t-to my rap...??? :("
The fuck you on mate? This album was fire. He's not going to put out the same shit he did 20 YEARS AGO. Stop fucking complaining. A few listens to the album and I loved it. Lyrics top notch like always. Just different production. So fuck off negative bitch, stop spewing lies.
His technical rapping ability is still off the charts and better than almost anyone but his production team is slacking so bad and he’s a part of that problem
While I agree with most of your points, I feel like there aren't many new rappers for him to compete with. He can't go on a track with new-wave mumble rappers and destroy them since they don't even have bars.
Ahmad Usufzy no but he could spend his time mentoring new potential talent for the future instead of beating a dead horse with his bad relationship songs.
In the early eminem there was a hidden counterpoint to his whole persona. Listening to his lyrics you could tell that behind all this anger and comical bravado, there was a deeply serious and thoughtful person. That's how he was able to comment so compellingly on his new-found fame, on his Stans, on his mother and wife, even on Bush when he was against Bush. His success finally allowed him to grow into the person he might have originally been had he not had such a messed up upbringing. It's no fun for us as an audience, but it's kind of a personal triumph for him I think.
I agree. I think the rage that's missing makes his new stuff feel like it's got less heart; it feels kind of...hollow. And I get it, you can only be so mad for so long until the tank is just empty, especially when you age and start to realize that being that pissed all the time doesn't always get you somewhere. But, for me, that's just what really made his flows.
Yup, it's what made him an icon. But yeah... like Em, I personally lose more of my own rage as I age (heh, that rhymes). I was an angry kid and now in my 20s, I'm a pretty chill dude. At some point, you just realize that anger is kinda useless.
Exactly. Eventually, you just get tired of being mad at the world. I only say it 'doesn't always get you somewhere' because in some way, his rage did kind of help get him to that height of fame until it dropped off.
slimkt It’ll be interesting what Eminem brings us in the future. While Revival isn’t anywhere near his good albums, I appreciate it more on a message level. For me a lot of Revival was like an Autobiography of Eminem’s life throughout his career, the beats were crap, the rhymes were crap, but a lot of the songs had deep personal messages. Fast forward to about a month after release, and he releases the Chloraseptic Remix, and he sounds pissed at someone, or just the fanbase in general, and his rhymes and flows are crazy in that Remix. While I don’t think Eminem himself has lost it I think Revival itself and his past couple of albums he’s been trying different things and going in different directions. If he can come back with that same energy rhymes flows and beats like that Remix Eminem would officially be back up there.
I don't think it was just the politics that killed Eminem, it was his separation from Slim Shady and his controversial attitude. People liked Eminem just as they love Trump: he's bombastic and pisses people off. Politics played into this with Eminem and his subservient attitude, but his music has devolved in the same sense. Also I used to love him too but, dear god, Revival was shit.
It isn’t even that he’s not rapping like Slim Shady. It’s that the production is trash, the pop features feel so out of place, the hooks are horrible, and lyrically he’s the worst he’s been since Encore
Anthony Witherow "production is trash". Can't you hear? The production is the same with Recovery relapse and mmlp2. His delivery is shit but only on walk on water. I guess you heard that and concluded the Album's shit.
Original trilogies are classics, (although Lucas before selling to Disney kept updating them and wouldn't leave well enough alone) but the half joking comment is referring to latter day Lucas (Prequel Era) when he wouldn’t address any of the criticisms leveled against him and would brush them off as people who either “didn’t get it” or “over analyzing” a “children’s film”. And Eminem seems to a similar state in his career right now as Lucas was during the Prequels, acknowledging criticisms, but not defending his work.
He ain't got the rage no more cause he made it. He did what he set out to do. He's lived his dream an already peaked. Now he just wants to be allowed to fade away with his mark left with all his past albums.
That's what happens when you grow up you realize you dont have to defend yourself to anyone and you have to take care of your self in order to survive and take care of the family but some time you loose the free spirited side in the process dosent mean you can't find it again or an even better versii of it and to me it seems that's what he is looking for
You basically summed up everything I've been trying to say, man. So thank you for that. Also from a somewhat long-time fan, this is my favourite video from you yet. Keep up the rad work.
The problem with many creative artists is that once they have life changes it affects their craft because their work isn't coming from the same place that it was. This is a perfect example. Great video.
3:27 so he cares about what people want for his music but eminem doesn't care if he loses half his fans over the whole Donald Trump deal because he's speaking his mind so why doesn't he do that with his music. Doesn't make sense I call bullshit eminem has changed whether he wants to admit it or not. Now makes sense he wouldn't want to go back to slim shady because he probably doesn't want to be reminded of all the troubles he went through when he was younger.
What do you mean "why doesn't he do that with his music?" Lol. He speaks his mind on ALL his records in diff ways. And revival had Trump references. Slim shady was always meant to be temporary not permanent if I'm not mistaken.
Rachael Parker you know now that I read back on it I can't remeber what I meant exactly. All I know is I didn't like his music in revival because of his voice if that makes sense its just not him. I'll will have to go back and listen to some of his songs in revival but one I do like is his song Framed. If I remeber what I was trying to say I reply back
Triston Herrera half?!?! The dumb fuck just lost 99% of his fanbase in one fell swoop. The guy just resigned himself to triple digit salary/month at the absolute best.
Adam Hager well I didn't know that. To be honest im glad you told me. Did you read something about it like how do you know. I just want to read or watch it for myself.
Hey, I do agree with you for the most part. But Em calling out Trump is something he would have done early in his career also. In Encore he called out Bush multiple times. Especially in the song Mosh. The only difference was that he still had that old Eminem flow and he was more relevant as a top rapper so people listened.
Georgenatti Live! Yes but most of it was real problems and always explained it in a creative and fun way. Meanwhile, a lot of the ones about Trump is now is just him crying, he's very bland about it, and he's drawing a line and basically saying "Fuck my fans who don't agree with me."
I think the reason why people hate he and pretty much everyone who complains about Trump is how unoriginal it is. "Trump is a loss cannon." "Trump is a Nazi." "Trump is a greedy bastard." I bet you heard at least one of those.
Georgenatti Live! Yeah but the difference is he had a reason to go after bush, the Clinton's, tipper core, and others and it was for the very same reason everyone hates trump, he stood for something back then, now he's just hopping the bandwagon and being hypocritical. He doesn't have to ike Trump, however eminem was against those back then because they criticized him for his freedom of speech and right to express his thoughts and how he feels without being censored or have his words twisted in the media, the way the media portrayed him like some abusive dad and husband/Satanist/ murderer, using him as a scapegoat for all that's wrong and putting the spotlight on him for just being honest with himself.... It's exactly how Trump is, weather you like him or not and yet eminem attacks that very character that, even shown in this video, backed him up back then for his music. On top of that, eminem is the very example of the opposite of "white privilege" he had a platform to speak on BOTH sides of the story of how we're all in the same boat being dragged down by the media and our political system, using us and pitting us against each other so they remain in power, yet he completely abandons this concept and opts for what everyone else is talking about right now. Back then he had a drive, now he's just on board with what's trending.
He literally went to a show at Trump Tower in 2005...Him and Trump were great friends until Eminem became old. It was a desperate attempt to get attention and it pissed off a lot of his fans. Early in Ems life he was constantly targeted by the Media and made to be a Racist, Homophobic, Misogynistic person, and now that its happening to Trump, He is just simply jumping on a ban wagon. Its cool to hate Trump.
Eminem is more than just a rapper. He's a warrior. Took all the bad things that happened to him channeled it all into his music. And he came on top. He's already won. Don't think he will be making music like that again. I'm just happy that he is still doing what he loves
exactly he even said he doesn t have the same rage as he had but he still has the ame passion and i mean back in the day he had drugs and more shit to vent ,i mean marshall mathers lp is also a whole middle finger to like everything
One thing I would disagree with is the bit about Love Game. I think it was awesome to subvert expectations on that song by having Kendrick do a song that wasn't something we have heard him do before. And the verses by both eminem and kendrick are phenomenal, so idk. It's a weird song, but it's different and it isn't a bad thing. But to each their own
Sebastian Vera Eminem has three ideas for kendrick, but was leaning more on the love game track. Kendrick thought it was funny and was up for it so Em and K dot made a comedy track like Em’s old days. It’s a good song I liked it. “Chlamydia couldn’t get rid of the pity of”
He's just ran out of new things to say. When he bashes politics it feels like an empty shell of his slim shady efforts. When he tries to inspire it's basically the same as his Marshall songs. He's covered everything that truly matters to him, and now he's scraping for content. Combine this with his record label's poor management and it's clear that Em has just run his course. Don't get me wrong, I welcome a good return, but that's not gonna happen unless he innovates for himself.
Rappers block. Politics is to easy, he's put everyone to shame on their own albums. So now people are afraid to put him on another. They should just own the fact he's awesome at what he does. Acept it and be glad to have him. The fact that nobody will play with him anymore. Could be the problem. We all have feelings. He's like the Rich Rich just trying to fit in and have some fun. But nobody picks him for anything becasue they're intimidated. But if someone woukd just pick him I'm sure he'd show everyone some amazing things . He needs everyone to realize he's just another kid that likes hang out with his friends and do what friends do. Rip on each other. Lol
He mentions how his fanbase is split on what they think he should do or be. Rap about that. If he can diss his own overzealous fans then he can throw shit at the ones who think he's too old.
The fuck you on mate? This album was fire. He's not going to put out the same shit he did 20 YEARS AGO. Stop fucking complaining. A few listens to the album and I loved it. Lyrics top notch like always. Just different production. So fuck off negative bitch, stop spewing lies.
Lalo3g1 The Way You Lie have gone 7x platinum as well as Not Afraid going 5x platinum and Rap God is 4x platinum. Dude Eminem sold records this decade. Relapse was his purest hip hop album. He hasn’t made an album like it since.
Jump. Starting. A. Car. And I. Started from the. Bottom. Like a. Snowman. Oh man. So nicely put lol. I hate this "flow". I love Eminem and I love Revival, to this day I watched a billion podcasts and rap critics and I still don't understand why everybody hates it. understand this though. It's really wack when he does this.
i like relapse more pesonnaly cuz its the last album really creative album not saying MMLP2 is not creative but its like a revisitation of MMLP as he said in interview the stories he told were kind a reminder of the first one and the delivery on the album was good and bad there are trash songs that kills the flow of the album which is isnt the case in relapse ,relapse as a whole body of work is imo a freaking great album the flow on songs like staw wide awake is masterpiece beautiful is a great song deja vu sale song and dance insane medicine ball all those songs had great content topic and delivery for MMLP2 it isnt the case some f the content is good but the delivery was weak in a lt of sog=ngs its still a good album tho
Let's be honest, Revival wasn't that whack, i didn't like a couple songs like untouchable or need me. In that album the only bad thing is the production. He needs to see all the critics that Revival has got to get angry and then make a new album with Dr.Dre. Rick Rubin ISN'T good for EMINEM.
The problem is Eminem is the biggest and best (in many factors) in the world, meaning that Eminem is never compared to anyone else - only himself. He is his only competition. Revival is my least favourite album, but you have to admire his lyrical skills. No rapper comes close to his capabilities, yet people still have time to complain. My least favourite songs of his still amaze me for his lyrical talent, but of course lyrics don't mean much if listeners aren't interested or engaged. Somewhere out there, Revival will be people's favourite Eminem album. It's all preference.
Foolish, listen to more hip hop. Many artist are better than Eminem when it comes to lyrical ability. People buy his album because he was acceptable to White America.
My biggest gripe with em is the production. If his new stuff was still as raw and abrasive as the old stuff (ie double octave triple tracked singing choruses without pitch correction) then it'd still be pretty good, it'd still be em. I don't much mind his new maturity or the context of his lyrics, but the overall sound of the records now sound exactly the same as everything else right down to the same drum samples and synths.
Ryder GS ugh framed was cringy af though I get embarrassed by the hook Fraaaamed ex-plaaaaaaaain...ugh old eminem didn't sound like a nerd trying to sound cool. He seems to think that by "old eminem" we mean violence, but I just want that flow, and his production quality he used to have back in the golden days, it's ok to mature, but I'm done with the bad relationship songs, it's like that's all he knows how to talk about anymore, even politically he's worse and out of touch.
Ado Adolescent well he lost his anger you don’t feel his passion as you used to before and I think he is trying to hard to be slim shady instead of being himself and making it much worse
Ahned Abu Awwad I agree and that's what I'm saying and I believe the original post too, he thinks he's giving us the old eminem, but he's not, he's giving us the view of slim shady that people who aren't fans, have an image of (violence, murder, women bashing, and etc...) But I want role model, til I collapse, solider, etc...
Ado Adolescent man I remember listening to soldier for the first time everything for that song was perfect his flow the perfect hook for the song and just his anger and pain I missed those days
The old Em is the one who made hip hop really popular. I think It's so stupid that he sacrifices his talent just to make what other people would expect a mature man to do. People talk about you =That's always been the price of being famous. # Now catch my middle finger cause this is the Em we like
Marxist Squidward yep, he doesn't have a social life and so his only way of interaction and "conversation" is by insults to deflect his inability to think on at least an average level.
I appreciate you for making a video that’s negative towards eminem sound like your still giving him props, and that’s why everyone else is getting hate because you’re respecting Eminem as an Artist
Yo man this channel is legit your insight is very logical, objective and you have a perfect balance of Old school and new school. Your channel is slept on thoe keep up the quality shit
First Name Something tells me that that is a bad idea. His lack of rage is probably because he just doean't care anymore. He's too secure in his position as one of the greatest rappers of all time. He needs something to be angry about and a great place to start is his fanbase that think he's too old for his old shtick but too far from his roots.
Hey man I tip my hat that was an excellent video you are a great editor and you actually said something intelligent a few things and you make u make a lot of good points keep up the good work
I think for Eminem , dissing Trump was important because unlike other rappers, Eminem's fanbase is full of Trump supporters that would say that Em was a Trump supporter, so it was probably pressure to distance himself. Non Eminem fans thought that as well, although real Eminem fans know Em would never support Trump based on how he dissed Bush
Jarron Williams I don’t expect em to support any president really he should diss trump but should have dissed Obama too it’s his character he’s anti authoritarian it’s just soft when now a days he will diss trump to be popular young Eminem hates everyone and that’s not something to do with maturity you can be mature and anti authoritarian that’s the problem he does what’s popular not controversial n that’s why he blew up plain and simple
ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED I think Recovery is his neo-magnum opus. It is the purest form of the new more mature eminem which I prefer far more than the young slim shady. The album was quality and he had a new style that was conducive to more complex rhymes. By the same token I love mmlp2 but not as much as recovery
We’re never gonna get the old Eminem back because he can’t say what he used to without the whole internet blowing up about anything offensive or not completely equal which isn’t what he’s about so it’s over
@@nikkeipvck8529 Yes it did. Kamikaze was one of the highest selling hip hop albums of 2018 and was THE highest selling "pure" hip hop album. And only Drake's Scorpion beat it out as far as streams go.
@@nikkeipvck8529 Give me something other than someone's opinion that demonstrably shows that it was trash. Don't worry, I'll wait. From where I sit, it did well commercially and artistically. Eminem's lyrics, flow, wordplay, metaphors, technical craft, etc. were all on-point in this album. It didn't have a huge amount of substance, no, but that's what happens when you make a whole album airing out all of your gripes. Even if you didn't like all the disses, "Stepping Stone" alone should have redeemed it.
wow i really enjoyed this video and i agree with you 100%. You're not ignorant with your opinion. I also ejoyed how well the editing was and how well written it was.
Tanveer Zaman. I agree. relapse is an album i can listen to from start to finish and feel compelled to rap along to every song. And that is largely because the flows are so enticingly catchy
Tanveer Zaman his morbid story telling is certainly on point with Stay Wide Awake. And the hook great too. I agree that Revival was not really what I had hoped for. But as a long time fan, i found enjoyment in the first playthrough. I'll never give up on Em. Even though this album is highly regarded as a miss, Eminem will always be a lyrical titan.
Matthew Mcferson he will always be the GOAT bc no one has changed the game like he did. The Shady that had no filters was so insane. Its sad to see that Shady go but i am still hopeful.
Can you do a breakdown of the last joke from the Dave Chappelle special from Netflix? Of how he compared what happened between him and Comedy Central to the Pimp story he told at the end.
Daniel Maybe watch Illuminatiwatcher1's video about it, it was uploaded a week ago I think. You might be put off by the name of the channel and the theories, but try to keep an open mind.
The problem is not Eminem in this situation. The problem is the people. People want to continue living in the past instead of growing and expanding and discovering new things about themselves and just totally staying present in the very moment that we live in. Yesterday's gone and it'll never come back. Eminem seen an opportunity to change his life cuz he almost died. He was found unconscious and his organs were failing. That's where he took his sobriety serious started getting sober and that changed his life. It changed his life for the better. So in that situation, he's gone to treatment and to therapists and you can guarantee he work through his childhood traumas heard some pains that he used to rap about. So what more do we need from him. He got rid of the junk and now we have the best of eminem. We don't need rage and anger and hatred and inflated egos. The world needs more love. Let's let the past be the past. And if Eminem decides to do a slim shady come back every now and then, cool and if he never comes back again I'm cool with that too. People complain too much and really honestly probably hurt Eminem's feelings about revival because Eminem poured out his heart and revival. Eminem was very vulnerable in that album and everybody made him feel like s***. Revival was a masterpiece of art and goes Way beyond hip hop. Certainly revival was not made to be bumping down the block while you're drinking your 40s and smoking that dank. Congratulations guys. On the real though, people need to start looking deep within themselves and really start working on themselves and really work on getting rid of your egos. Because when you know the truth you wouldn't want to go back to being Mr inflated ego ever again. M&m turned around and bettered himself and bettered his life and people want him to go back on drugs and ruin his life again. Man there's some very toxic fans that Eminem has. Eminem's doing great and I congratulate him on his sobriety. I'm also on the path of sobriety and people need to take a look at their lives as well and see what kind of substances they're abusing. I'm all for natural healing and that's the route everybody should be going right now. There's a lot of good natural plants out there that can keep you sober from dangerous things like Alcohol and other drugs. Nature Gives us some beautiful things
The problem is that Eminem has not fully grown up and he's completely lost his understanding of what makes a hip-hop song great. His punchlines and innuendos are still incredibly childish or simple and they've lost the edge and anger from when he was younger and consumed by a world that constantly examined and criticized him. His voice is dulled and a majority of his verses sound like he's just rambling on and on. There's a lack of personality in everything he does. Oh, my fans don't like "mumble rappers" right? I'll go off on a tangent on them. People hate Trump? I'll spend every waking moment rapping about him for an album. People said they didn't like Relapse? I'm going to keep bringing up how bad I thought it was. I don't get a sense for what Eminem himself is like anymore because everything he does seems to be reactionary or reflected off of someone else's opinion he heard. Eminem has also ALWAYS picked easy targets to go against, which gave him credit to his rabid fanbase, but inflated his status as a great rapper without him having to prove it that often anymore. This guy has gone on the record to seriously diss....NSYNC, Britney Spears, Moby, Mariah Carey, Benzio, Ja Rule, Machine Gun Kelly, "mumble rappers", etc...artists who either a.) are not in the realm of Rap music or b.) aren't very good rappers themselves. JA RULE is arguably the biggest rapper Eminem ever came at, and that's a joke when you consider that Ja was a rapper more likely to do a radio single with Ashanti than to put out a hard "lyrical" track. What does this all mean? It means Eminem is an artist who, due to his massive success early on and his continued output over the years, has retained a massive fanbase and has permanently occupied a spot in Rap's history, but his early success and the whirlwind of crazy shit that followed him until about 2002-2003 ultimately doomed the rest of his career. He doesn't get that most people don't want to hear a 46 year old man yell and drone on and on about new school rappers who will never see a lick of the success he's had in his career. He doesn't get that it's not impressive for him to dismantle an overmatched Machine Gun Kelly because everybody knows that Machine Gun Kelly doesn't move the needle for 99.9% of Rap fans. He doesn't get that his acapella freestyle videos look absolutely bizarre as he stares seriously into the camera and raps for 10 minutes about total nonsense. And he doesn't get this in large part because of his camp and his fan base's blind admiration for him. Even in this video, you compared Kendrick's Control verse to Eminem's verse on Till I Collapse....what? That's a ridiculous comparison. In Till I Collapse, Eminem lists off his favorite Emcees; it's clearly a gesture of respect (two of the rappers he mentions were dead at the time). Kendrick specifically calls out his contemporaries and says he makes music to be better than all of them and they need to step their games up. Kendrick also called out Big Sean on HIS OWN SONG, as opposed to Till I Collapse being a solo Eminem song on an Eminem album. Only an Eminem fan would make this comparison and think it holds any weight. And that's a good sum up of a lot of the problems with the perception of Eminem today.
What's your favorite Eminem track?

White america and Stan (Elton john version) are great. Gotta love D12, Bad Meets Evil or any of his features (as you said) though. Eminem Show was my first ever CD lol, guy at CD plus told my dad “parental advisory” was a warning for light swearing haha.

I just read the title and I already know the answer. 2 things:
1. Eminem is off of drugs now and he's not drinking. He's completely sober.
2. Eminem recently said in an interview that he just doesn't have that anger in him that he used to have. So he won't be making that kind of music anymore.
The Giggling Horse
Sure. You are obviously wrong. Eminem already explained it in an interview but I guess you can just believe whatever you want about it.
Lol drugs dont make u rap better he just doesnt have that rage in him anymore hes grown up and settle most of problems with people
Devin James
That's not at all what I said but sure. Go ahead and twist my words around. It doesn't matter.
Of course not but drugs did gave him the creativity to express his anger which he lack now, because he's sober. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him that he's free of his demons and addictions but since he's sober, from 2008 to this day, well he lost something and we can feel it through his music.

Bood Hernandez Same but his voice changed so we won’t ever get that again. Eminem also said he won’t do that flow anymore in the Ringer, and in an interview because fans will say that he’s too old to be Shady again
I really appreciate this video because you criticize the album, but you don’t completely shit on it like everybody else.
Well I mean it's a pretty shitty album IMO.
MAN doesn't help anyone
Hecking Bamboozled Well I could give reasons for that.
It is shit though.
But the album does deserve to be shit on. I listen to the first 3 songs then removed it from my library
"can the real slim shady please stand up?"
Brown sugar Dumpling Not really. Slim Shady has been sitting down ever since Eminem overdosed. The only way I can see him bringing back Slim Shady is by getting back on drugs. Slim Shady was unstable and entertaining. That is something Eminem's recent songs lack so he tries to fill the void with autotune, singing and features.
johnyk891 You are seriously pointing at him becomimg addicted again as a solution?...

Eminem used to be so fucking good I still listen to his old music to this day.
Jupiter same
its sad really. nowadays he just tries to be an influence and like some weird pseudo-politician trying to make people agree with him and "change the world" instead of trying to do something actually influential or interesting with his talent like he used to.
maybe it was just the drugs that made him good back then.
So fuck off negative bitch, stop spewing lies.
iX Relaxx The album was just a bunch of dad jokes on garbage beats
Me to
His technical rapping ability is still off the charts and better than almost anyone but his production team is slacking so bad and he’s a part of that problem
Flix with Vic couldn't agree more
Idk why he doesnt work with funky bass bros anymore
right and he got the best n most resources at his disposal lol
Flix with Vic Exactly. People act as if his rap ability fell of. He's still a monster. The production is the issue.
I agree totally. Straight FACTS!
Ado Adolescent I agree... still there is no one worthy
Bruh he did just that on kamikaze lmao
Why would he mentor mumble rappers that arent actually rappers. He needs more mcs, look at drake he sings now. Hes a better rapper then a singer
@ye Men NighT but he said he wouldn't go after kendrick
In the early eminem there was a hidden counterpoint to his whole persona. Listening to his lyrics you could tell that behind all this anger and comical bravado, there was a deeply serious and thoughtful person. That's how he was able to comment so compellingly on his new-found fame, on his Stans, on his mother and wife, even on Bush when he was against Bush. His success finally allowed him to grow into the person he might have originally been had he not had such a messed up upbringing. It's no fun for us as an audience, but it's kind of a personal triumph for him I think.
Damn, I always love the last things you say. You know? Like dropping the bomb that just wraps everything up.
Probably A Panda slim shady must sit down... not stand up
10:10 right now as of August 31 2018 he dissed everyone
Mehicano Labs why did i toughed of Shane ?!
It did get him to that fame and made him a hip-hop icon, but like you said before... you can only be mad for so long.
slimkt It’ll be interesting what Eminem brings us in the future.
Listen to chloraseptic remix
I don't think it was just the politics that killed Eminem, it was his separation from Slim Shady and his controversial attitude. People liked Eminem just as they love Trump: he's bombastic and pisses people off. Politics played into this with Eminem and his subservient attitude, but his music has devolved in the same sense.
Also I used to love him too but, dear god, Revival was shit.
STFU lying Trump fan. Just smearing anyone whose spoken out against the Orange Clown. Pfft.
It isn’t even that he’s not rapping like Slim Shady. It’s that the production is trash, the pop features feel so out of place, the hooks are horrible, and lyrically he’s the worst he’s been since Encore
Revival and Recovery are POP albums
Unfortunately
Most of Revival is shitty, but I must say "Framed", "Arose", and "Castle" are the best tracks.
Anthony Witherow "production is trash". Can't you hear? The production is the same with Recovery relapse and mmlp2. His delivery is shit but only on walk on water. I guess you heard that and concluded the Album's shit.
Man this is painful to watch after Kamikaze
Damn for real
Why?
0:24 Yeah this video didn't age very well.
lemon li kamikaze isn’t that great
@@RealOGMudbone kamikaze is like his top 5 best albums WTF u mean he came from his worst ever album to a top 3 or 5
Is Eminem the George Lucas of hip-hop?
Anonnymouse Hacker are u saying star wars hasnt aged well cause it fucking has
Original trilogies are classics, (although Lucas before selling to Disney kept updating them and wouldn't leave well enough alone) but the half joking comment is referring to latter day Lucas (Prequel Era) when he wouldn’t address any of the criticisms leveled against him and would brush them off as people who either “didn’t get it” or “over analyzing” a “children’s film”. And Eminem seems to a similar state in his career right now as Lucas was during the Prequels, acknowledging criticisms, but not defending his work.
Anonnymouse Hacker Em's music seems to age well imo. Most prefer his old stuff
FlyBoy Dill lol Star Wars aged incredibly poorly
Victor Morales the original or the shitty prequels
What happened to slim shady?
Answer: he killed him off in when I’m gone
And Eminem was drowned by Stan's brother in bad guy
Yes
Slim Shady Is basically on every Relapse songs. That album is too underrated, it's almost ridiculous.
He ain't got the rage no more cause he made it. He did what he set out to do. He's lived his dream an already peaked. Now he just wants to be allowed to fade away with his mark left with all his past albums.
lol rage like slims cannot be forgotton, no its just waiting for the perfect moment
That's what happens when you grow up you realize you dont have to defend yourself to anyone and you have to take care of your self in order to survive and take care of the family but some time you loose the free spirited side in the process dosent mean you can't find it again or an even better versii of it and to me it seems that's what he is looking for
Damn nigga are you dumb af

Same!!! And most people don't know that Slim Shady is referring to the devil. 😮

i like Legacy
You basically summed up everything I've been trying to say, man. So thank you for that. Also from a somewhat long-time fan, this is my favourite video from you yet. Keep up the rad work.
Thanks for sticking with the channel my dude. Hope to make new favorites to come
The problem with many creative artists is that once they have life changes it affects their craft because their work isn't coming from the same place that it was. This is a perfect example.
Great video.
U should listen to Legacy thats an underrated song on the MMLP2
David from south park Indeed..also The Bad guy these songs are very good
legacy was a great song, his verses were pure fire!
I feel like 'castle' on the new album has kinda the same feel to it as legacy... for me, its the only song on there i wanna listen to
Castle and Arose are the only song s i like on Revival
Love legacy
Adam Hager oh my god! Really? I'd like to see your proof
I replayed that ending 6 times.
Love Eminem, love your vids.
Keep up the good work fam
Its because Proof died. After Proof died he doesn’t rap the same
Abya Yala proof died in 2007
Lazy Eye Music Proof died April 11, 2006.
I like Eminem any way, honestly, it's amazing, he still raps amazingly!
THATS WHAT IM SAYIN
How can he outrap people if people activaly AVOID collabs with Em because they know Em will outrap them.
Yes
He mentioned trump in 3 songs
Official-TwinkleFart how many times has he mentioned Cheney?
Eminem is more than just a rapper. He's a warrior. Took all the bad things that happened to him channeled it all into his music. And he came on top. He's already won. Don't think he will be making music like that again. I'm just happy that he is still doing what he loves
exactly he even said he doesn t have the same rage as he had but he still has the ame passion and i mean back in the day he had drugs and more shit to vent ,i mean marshall mathers lp is also a whole middle finger to like everything
The Slim Shady LP is his Second Album! First one was Infinite (1996). The Slim Shady LP is the album which made him famous.

@@ry.poopyman Eminem’s albums after 2016 are all shit and nowhere close to where he was before
One thing I would disagree with is the bit about Love Game.
Don't discount the power of how awful his production has been lately.
Yes because making a very important political statement is "scraping for content". Lmao
The fuck you on mate? This album was fire. He's not going to put out the same shit he did 20 YEARS AGO. Stop fucking complaining. A few listens to the album and I loved it. Lyrics top notch like always. Just different production. So fuck off negative bitch, stop spewing lies.
Eminem sold out to give people what they want to hear and raking in the cash. Slim Shady told people what no one was brave enough to say.
Guess Grief I
Guess Grief solid assumption with no proof. A1 I must say, especially considering that he has sold less ever since relapse lol. But nice opinion
Lalo3g1 The Way You Lie have gone 7x platinum as well as Not Afraid going 5x platinum and Rap God is 4x platinum. Dude Eminem sold records this decade. Relapse was his purest hip hop album. He hasn’t made an album like it since.
Perfect line at the end "in my opinion i order for the real marshall to rise the real slim shady must sit down" 👏👏👏
I love the breakdown of the second half of his carrer 7:57
Bet Trump thumbs uped this..... See!
Jump. Starting. A. Car.
Make a vid on KAMAKAZE
Mmlp2 was dope, I don't see how people like relapse or recovery more than that
i like relapse more pesonnaly cuz its the last album really creative album not saying MMLP2 is not creative but its like a revisitation of MMLP as he said in interview the stories he told were kind a reminder of the first one and the delivery on the album was good and bad there are trash songs that kills the flow of the album which is isnt the case in relapse ,relapse as a whole body of work is imo a freaking great album the flow on songs like staw wide awake is masterpiece beautiful is a great song deja vu sale song and dance insane medicine ball all those songs had great content topic and delivery for MMLP2 it isnt the case some f the content is good but the delivery was weak in a lt of sog=ngs
its still a good album tho
Relapse is better because it's sound cohesive and Eminem is amazing on that "serial killer" mode.
Too many pop samples and not enough creativity, but a couple of songs are good. Encore is way better
Lil Penis true man! he needs to make his next album with dre
thats exactly what he just did a few days ago :D
Jake he said it wasn’t that bad?
Rick rubin fucked that whole album
So awesome you put beats from Slim Shady Times into the headlines while criticizing Eminem. It just rips my heart apart.
Damn that ending i love it!!
He's returned thanks to all the critics who hated revival.
Yeah, that verse bodied everyone on thet Chloroseptic remix! :D
It's all preference.
kendrick bruh, hes up there
Foolish, listen to more hip hop. Many artist are better than Eminem when it comes to lyrical ability. People buy his album because he was acceptable to White America.
@@mrniz461 Exactly, Eminem ain't even good.

The AtZ Show hahah ok
Jim from the office was a soldier in Benghazi and I took him very serious.
I almost did - but then he did that “Jim stare” and I was like “awwww chucks”
A Quiet Place might get me though, it’s just a matter of time
I think he has the range to pull off a serious/emotional performance.
nobody knows his name not even you it's always gonna be Jim from the office
Guess who's not sleeping cause I just discovered this channel🙋🏿
My biggest gripe with em is the production. If his new stuff was still as raw and abrasive as the old stuff (ie double octave triple tracked singing choruses without pitch correction) then it'd still be pretty good, it'd still be em. I don't much mind his new maturity or the context of his lyrics, but the overall sound of the records now sound exactly the same as everything else right down to the same drum samples and synths.
Because dr Dre don't produce for him anymore
When did eminem make a song that was "Old eminem" and people didn't like it
Ryder GS it’s like everyone a sheep and follow what anyone says which is sad in this world
Ryder GS ugh framed was cringy af though I get embarrassed by the hook Fraaaamed ex-plaaaaaaaain...ugh old eminem didn't sound like a nerd trying to sound cool.

King Fox what are you expecting from eminem in 2017?
King Fox Wtf? You are the one taking it waaay too far. The album is far from trash
Yo man this channel is legit your insight is very logical, objective and you have a perfect balance of Old school and new school. Your channel is slept on thoe keep up the quality shit
Yo that ending was perfect.
Boggsy fck now I have to watch full video
He should rap about the rage that is missing. Catch 22 with slim and Marshall, so rap about that.
Jarron Williams I don’t expect em to support any president really he should diss trump but should have dissed Obama too it’s his character he’s anti authoritarian it’s just soft when now a days he will diss trump to be popular young Eminem hates everyone and that’s not something to do with maturity you can be mature and anti authoritarian that’s the problem he does what’s popular not controversial n that’s why he blew up plain and simple
my dad grew me up on em. loves trump. now doesn't like em
Jarron Williams i thought he would have a respect for trump
Were you paying attention? He specifically makes jokes about how his pop references are outdated now.
And Amy Schumer has admitted to stealing jokes. Admitting it doesn't give it a pass

MMLP2>>>>> Recovery
Deion Geneveo anything after relapse is straight trash and I refuse to listen to it
Because?
Mmlp2 is classic
So Rap God, Bezerk, Cold Wind Blows, Not Afraid, Love The Way You Lie, Chloraseptic and Offended are "straight trash"? OK.
Wow loved this breakdown. Also the Ray William Johnson background is killing it
Now You have to talk about Eminem's kamikaze
SO you're not going to make a Kamikaze breakdown or whatever you were talking about in this vid

@@loganleatherman7647 it was trash
@@nikkeipvck8529 Give me something other than someone's opinion that demonstrably shows that it was trash. Don't worry, I'll wait. From where I sit, it did well commercially and artistically. Eminem's lyrics, flow, wordplay, metaphors, technical craft, etc. were all on-point in this album. It didn't have a huge amount of substance, no, but that's what happens when you make a whole album airing out all of your gripes. Even if you didn't like all the disses, "Stepping Stone" alone should have redeemed it.

Tanveer Zaman. I agree. relapse is an album i can listen to from start to finish and feel compelled to rap along to every song. And that is largely because the flows are so enticingly catchy
Matthew Mcferson Stay Wide Awake is my favourite from the album but all of them are really good. Ems delivery was on point but he lost it in revival.
Kendrick verse on Love Game was godly tho 😂
Really good analysis, keep it up mate.
Eminem died a long time ago I don't know who that clone is
Iliuminati clone him around 2001 - 2005
Who else is watching this after listening to Kamikaze?!
I love “old Eminem” but I still really like Eminem’s recent album...

Can you do a breakdown of the last joke from the Dave Chappelle special from Netflix? Of how he compared what happened between him and Comedy Central to the Pimp story he told at the end.
Literally started working on it last night.
My favorite set of his to date
The AtZ Show You're my hero 🙌
Daniel Maybe watch Illuminatiwatcher1's video about it, it was uploaded a week ago I think. You might be put off by the name of the channel and the theories, but try to keep an open mind.
The AtZ Show you like the stand up he did? I didn’t really like it
what do you think about kamakazi
Dude please keep up with this, I'm learning a lot from you. Thanks for the insight ✌🏻
What about kamikaze?
I know this was uploaded in january
Why do you talk about The return of Slim Shady with Kamikaze?
Nature Gives us some beautiful things
that krasinski point has dated quickly XD
I fucking love your channel man!
Thanks!
Damn man...good review!
I agree 100% he's just an iconic but
There won't be another Eminem he's atleast top 15 for me
sum it up bruh
