Or…you could just watch this channel, learn anyways because you’re fascinated with every aspect of filmmaking, not expect to make a living out of it and make art with your filmmaker friends and see what happens…Thanks for all the great content!
Love the videos. Your screen recordings are so contrasty though I must say. Makes it kinda hard to get the most out of the breakdown. Do you intentionally up the contrast to stop them being flagged for copyright?
Hey Patrick. What kind of app do you use to draw over user interface and videos? I'd love to use a similar thing on my Mac for my workshops with kids. Thank you!
Do you think you'll cover Netflix's Ripley? It was beautifully shot. Watched with my girlfriend who doesn't study cinematography and we both kept commenting on it. Very clearly a lot of painterly inspirations all throughout. Highly recommend!
Where to stop? Stop when you have to learn by drawing lines and circles on other people's work and stills. This sketching over others work is silly simplification of work that needs more than just this much of thought put into it on set.
That’s like telling a musician not to analyze their favorite songs part by part to get better at songwriting. This channel is easily one of the best sources of learning cinematography/lighting on TH-cam. Strange to see such a negative comment here honestly
It would be cool to see a video where you discuss your approach to low/limited budget cinematography.

The amount of soul stabbing truth you said at the end gave me chills. I definitely needed to hear that. Thank you
Just a simple thanks!! From South Africa! 🇿🇦
Thanks for this man. Always love the messages at the end. Keep it up!
I need to clip just the end of this to send to like 80% of my filmmaking friends...

10:24 what does closer to the eyeline mean?
It means the camera is pretty close to whatever the talent is looking at (in this case his costar)
I was a healthy young man until getting high blood pressure from the last 90 seconds of copious SALT that entered my eyes and earballs
