Outside of the Golden Age comics and the current comics after the 6th Dimension storyline, Superman is never god tier.
Even when he is, they just tell different stories where he has to accomplish something unrelated to his strength and speed.

Also the car toy could 'fly' as it had pop out wings and rocket boosters come out the back. :P It was a red recolor of the blue 'matrix conversion coupe' from the Superman The Man of Steel toyline from the year before.

Regarding Superman's power level: He doesn't seem to actually be injured by anything. He gets knocked around a lot but he doesn't have super-inertia (although he should be able to control his momentum if he remembers to fly). It's not clear if he's in pain or just surprised at times but neither necessarily contradicts being invulnerable.

    • @anispidey
      @anispidey 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

Yeah most of the time you don't see any actual injury on him. He just doesn't brace himself (or at least can't when he's in the middle of flying) before impacts so he just gets knock around a little. Remember despite how much he can lift he still is only like around 200-275 lbs.

The show creators wanted to keep this incarnation of Superman's power level down to almost his Comic Book Golden Era beginning level - which was much weaker than the Superman we are used to. He is also very prone to "take a hit" because he never developed his instinct to get his guard up. He does begin to power up more as the DCAU continues. The unofficial explanation is he is "learning" and still becoming accustomed to what he can truly do.

@@BaithNa You are thinking of the developing Golden Age Superman on his way to becoming the much more powerful Silver Age Superman.
Golden Age Superman started off the weakest by far. He could not fly, had no X-Ray vision, had no Heat vision, got stunned to near unconsciousness by an ordinary torpedo, etc ...
He started flying in the early 40's Fleischer cartoons because animating long distance leaping was too difficult back then. Radio Show Superman was also pushing his power levels, but for different reasons.
Comic Book Superman didn't fly until 1943. As the Golden Age continued, Superman's powers grew substantially over that time period.

@@dunringill1747 _"Golden Age Superman started off the weakest by far. He could not fly, had no X-Ray vision, had no Heat vision"_
You're mostly right but one detail is a little off. He did start off the weakest (June 1938) with superhuman strength (including leaps), speed and durability (and incredible eyesight and hearing) but he had his X-ray vision less than a year in (April 1939).
Some other interesting dates (assuming my research is dead on):
      Full on super-hearing (1939)
Super-breath as in a very impressive blowing out an opponent's torch (January 1940)
Super-ventriloquism (1941) (only included here because this was so early in)
Super-breath as in putting out a whole fire with a single gust (June 1941)
Super-loud voice (1942) (of course, it's only logical)
Using x-ray vision as heat vision (July 1949)
Freezing breath (May 1959) although he had technically done this in May 1943 but by first flying into the stratosphere to inhale some "sub-zero air"
Heat vision as separate power (1961)

Maybe I didn't phrase it well. I guess I mean that Golden Age Superman is using his X-ray only 10 months after his debut hence saying "Golden Age Superman had no X-Ray vision" is not 100% a truth statement.
To illustrate with an extreme example, let's say Superman did no leaping around at all in his first published adventure but does in the second one would it be accurate to say "Golden Age Superman started off the weakest by far. He could not leap tall buildings in a single bound."? Of course not.

Wonder Woman sometimes wears a cape and Aquaman has worn one for "ceremony". The Flash, I figure, wouldn't wear one because it would be too dangerous, even to himself, not just for drag and snagging on things (as Edna Mode points out) but it could whip around and slice him open and his blood must pump like at a percentage of lightspeed.

I watched the comics carefully during the Crisis on Infinite Earths back in 1985, because DC promised they were going to make Superman more "believable". Superman used to fly to other galaxies, didn't need to breathe for -- however long he needed, he could survive multimegaton H-bombs; after Crisis, he could survive a half-a-kiloton blast, he could fly in space -- but he could only hold his breath one hour. And no faster than light stuff any more. They may have altered his specs [several times] since then, but that was about the last year of my major comic buying.
I could put up with everything else, but no more flying to other planets? I kind of thought of Batman as the dark/gothic hero and Supes as the science-fictional hero. Flying to other worlds to fight aliens was a major draw for me!
