    Are there HUD's that will display on the upper part the windshield, slightly above your direct line of sight?

    • @drivingthenation
      @drivingthenation  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are HUD displays that move, so yes.

    How big is the initial display?
    What is the magnification of the convex mirror?

    • @drivingthenation
      @drivingthenation  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got these answers from Continental -
      How big is the initial display? There is a range of sizes that can be used for Image Generation. Our TFT HUDs use displays from 1.3" to 1.6" in size.
      What is the magnification of the convex mirror? There is no convex mirror in our system.
      Can someone from outside see what is being projected on the windshield? No, not as a projected image. If someone looked through the windshield and down at the dash board, they may be able to see the display image, but it would be very small.

    I am not sure what the glare trap lens is exactly? Does it have a reflective coating applied to it?

    • @drivingthenation

      I don't know either and this was from 2014. I am sure they upgraded since then.

      @@drivingthenation In my humble opinion, they probably rather wouldn't upgrade much. The technology is quite mature, having been used already for around 80 years.

    Is there anything special about the glare trap lens/cover or is it just a sheet of plastic? I have a second hand continental HUD and the cover is scratched up. Wondering if it's ok to polish up or is there some sort of special coating applied to the plastic. Thanks!

      +Bill McDonald Thanks Bill. We just had Continental show us their mirror less side view cameras. We haven't put them up yet. I will try to put a link here when we do.

      It reduces the total size of the box. Without the mirror the projector would need to be placed at the same distance from the mirror, but on the right side in the image. From the size of the thing, I think that's about where you'd want your steering wheel. By using a mirror, the projector can be put on the left side instead. I presume they call it a fold mirror because the light path is "folded".
