    Like all site builders, Webflow definitely has its limitations. So you have to decide if it fits into your process and the types of sites you are building. For my agency it has been the PERFECT fit (especially when we focus on ranking those sites with SEO), but it may not be the best for you. This video does a pretty good job showing us where Webflow can fit in to your business.

    With the power of being able to manage every element of a design, comes the complexity of managing every element of the design. I'm excited to see where webflow brings this tool, I wish their service plans didn't come off like a bargain rate cell phone plan... Remember the days of all those "creative web designs" that the general population could not figure out how to navigate? I'm truly shocked that Adobe never adapted Dreamweaver to work with wordpress or a CMS natively.

    Totally agree, I was excited to use Webflow with my clients because of all of the design freedom, however, most of my clients are eCommerce business or need booking capabilities like doctors or hotels, who also need login credentiale, hence Webflow is no suited for my type of customers.
    And I know some plugins and advanced code could make it work, it honestly, the price of Webflow plus the price of each workaround does not justifies choosing Webflow over Shopify.
    I wonder if a platform so limited could be sustainable in the long run.

    one aspect we don't discuss about the difference between wordpress and webflow is the number of jobs for this skills available on the market. I am in east coast and I just don't see many jobs out there asking for webflow. The reason is because wordpress exists for many years already and the support they need obviously is much larger than webflow.

    • @juangraciaofficial

      That's obvious, wordpress is scalable while webflow isn't, it's more like a freelance solution to sell to small businesses so if you want to start freelancing webflow is a great starting point.

    Wordpress with Divi is also very easy and no-code style. I can make nearly all I want and more with small css coding...
    But on top of everything, also webflow, good to have Frontend Dev skills.
    Plus, years ago I paid for lifetime Divi plan and now I'm building my sites free of charge.
    With webflow, there is constant, monthly fee. It is perfectly fine to pay once you arre on the level, when you build and sell your sites on regular basis, but starting your freelancer path and building one now and then, webflow is a monthly cost...

    • @stijnjasper
      @stijnjasper 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was 99,9% convinced to make the switch from WordPress to Webflow but the absence of multilingual support really is a dealbreaker. I wanted to design a small hotel website with EN/DE/NL language support, which in WordPress can be done relatively easily through (free) plugins. Webflow’s answer for this is using Weglot, which is a paid service I cannot convince the client to pay extra for. I saw something about duplicating pages manually in Webflow but this is not a scalable solution and it undermines the SEO structure. There are no videos on TH-cam yet offering the solution so Ran, there might be an opportunity here :).
      Cheerio!

    • @georgy.design
      @georgy.design 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@stijnjasper How’s that undermines the SEO structure? As far as I know, making a subfolder is superior to subdomain in most cases, e.g. yoursite.com/en is better than en.yoursite.com because the latter is a separate page - meaning, en.yoursite.com doesn’t help with yoursite.com’s SEO.
      I might be wrong about it though. Let’s see what Ran brings us next on this topic.
      Also, I do really hate lack of native multilingual support. I don’t think it will come out anytime soon because it seems like Webflow and Weglot have some sort of an agreement, no cap. Speculations lol.
      Still, Webflow gives you design freedom that Wordpress doesn’t. So it really depends on the project.

    I think Webflow is best for designing, whether front ends or backends...if you export them into your own VPS, then all the rest is irrelevant. That's how we use it anyway...we do the design in Webflow, then export the site, and translate the html into blade templates, which is really a trivial amount of work and something we still have to do if we did the design outside of Webflow (blade is for Laravel, but you could also easily translate them to Mustache or Handlebars as well). I don't' think I would host with Webflow unless I was making a site that I anticipated would have wild fluctuations in usage...although you could host on AWS and have the same dynamic scaling.
    For most of our use cases, the demand is pretty predictable. Whatever the end use, Webflow is a great design aid...really speeds things up.

      Webflow would be a good platform to use if you don’t want to learn to code even though you need at least some HTML and CSS knowledge. Otherwise use figma and work with front end and back end developers instead.

    I want to get my website made for my ecommerce brand and Shopify is better than any other platform out there. The only reason that's making me want to use Webflow is because of how interactive it is. Is there a way to connect Shopify check-out to Webflow?

    • @epicsseven7686
      @epicsseven7686 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's a good question and good point. Webflow on the design side is the best that I have seen to date. But ecommerce limitations is disappointing. Especially when I see that Wix has a better ecommerce platform. I was wondering too, if you can connect shopify to Webflow.

    Two more cases when not to use webflow.
    1. If create a website for a eastern european company, Webflow websites are just too slow. Better pick word press and chose a loacl hoster.
    2. You live in Germany. Webflow still ist not compatible with the German DSGVO law, so you or your client might run into problems.

    Only you hate wordpress it seems, lol. I create online stores based on a lightweight theme that I later customize as a design, after making sure that everything looks good and is perfectly functional, I offer access to my clients and they already understand very quickly how to add products, how to manage orders + I offer them access through the woocommerce mobile application, as a bonus and they are very happy with all these things. If my customers are happy, my mission has ended and the conclusion is the wordpress is the best choice for many projects.
