just got off the phone with customer service they gave me my code will try this after work today. got the whole truck for free, only needs a fan clutch
theres 3 different wait times that can take place based on how many times you try to put a wrong code in. Theres 15 min, 1 hr and 24 hrs. Also u dont need to have the key in position 2. I managed to get back to the security code screen after just turning the radio on and leaving it on for a bit. Hope this helps others to use their radio on this car again!
Oh man, my radio's such a pain in the ass. Bought the same year & model in 2017, and had to replace the battery twice; once after buying. And so, each time the battery is replaced/disconnected, the radio effectively shits out too. Had once received a radio code the same year we bought it, and if I recall, it failed. Probably because the unit was replaced in the vehicle's lifetime, and therefore doesn't match the one on file based on the VIN. So, time passes, we forget about it. The poor thing sits for about two years. Later, we decide to get the ML going again, as I needed a vehicle to drive to a further job. We change the battery the second time, as my dad touched the metal battery casing to the negative terminal (idiotic, yes). Did more repairs, yada-yada. Had a whole ordeal with the crankshaft sensor, so it was up and driving again. Radio again shows "WAIT" for longer than ten minutes, which is the base time given if you've entered the password wrong multiple times. The time will increase to an hour with 3 incorrect attempts. So, I figured I'd drive it around for about an hour since I had time to kill. Finally, the password screen appears. Enter in the one the dealership gave me earlier in the day. Goes back to "WAIT"... call the dealership again. Service lady says that I may have to disconnect the battery, or that there's a software update (on a 20 year old vehicle?), or that I might have to buy a new one. Try disconnecting the battery, AGAIN. Doesn't work. Then pull and reconnect the fuse to hard reset the radio's timer. Doesn't work either. There's no possible "software update", so I'm guessing my last option is to try and wait it out again, attempt the password one final time, and hopefully not have to purchase another $200 radio. LMAO. Truly, trying to listen to some music is more frustrating than when we had to diagnose the reason why the Mercedes wouldn't start in the first place.

I have 2005 ML 500 AMG. Replaced new battery.. I tried this wonderful video and it worked!! you really have to wait at least an hour.. Thanks
