First off…does Ben have a pitch deck for investors in his BFAS tent reselling business? Also, I’m a good Coyote if Ben needs someone to move some product from AZ into CA. I also appreciate the inside information. I just bought all the Dyneema available so you’ll have to go through me to get something Waterproof, BFAS free and lighter than a fast packers ego.
Im confused about the pfas thing and tents. From my understanding of modern tent fabrics, at least with mainstream and cottage brands, is that they dont use a dwr for waterproofing so the pfas thing doesnt apply to them. They use a woven fabric with a PU or PE coating for waterproofing which will never need a dwr recoating because it never had one to begin with. So high quality tents shouldnt be affected by this change at all. This change will mostly impact gore-tex style waterproof clothing which has been on the decline for decades since we discovered that the original gore-tex recipe was toxic because of the pfas in it. I switched to silpoly rain gear with mechanical ventilation for this reason.
You’re probably a lot more knowledgeable in the topic. I need to look into this more. I still think some of what was being shared is not an apples to apples comparison. Thank you for bringing this up. We’ll circle back and I’ll mention this comment in a future episode.

Love it! Thanks for being an honest Coyote (if those exist). And very wise about the Dyneema! :)
