I think because the RB26 has been used since 1989, its sound is so distinct that when car enthusiasts hear it, your senses are heightened. Your ears perk up, your eyes widen, and your head pivoting toward the sound of the sexiest car in history.
I only hear turbo valve, not the rest of the engine. Turbo engines revs lower, so always will sound worst than NA. Too much factors to talk before say "6line sounds better than V6" for check a xtreme example think about F1 V6

I think its the opposite lol, the small i6 sounds so smooth and soothing with some spaceship speed from the turbo noises, but the vr being 1.2L larger is much more brutish and heavy and thumpy
VR38. I'm biased, the R35 has been my dream car since I was a kid and I saw my first one in person back in 2011. Something about the sound on the upshifts, when the engine comes back down to 5k rpm and the clutch engages again, my Gooood
Can I just say that cars with lag are fantastic. I mean you can hear the turbo in the last short. Go from no psi to all of it in the slowest amount of time . But God it's beautiful
The answer is simple. The v6 gtr sounds much better than the 3000zx TT. But it's still V with a bit of "hiccup" The 6 in line is a unique sound. Much smoother BMW 6. Supra 6, Skyline 6, great sounds. If it exceeds 6000 rpm it becomes a siren! Obviously we are only commenting on the sound ...

Inline 6 has a beautiful unique sound. Vr38 also sounds quite lovely. In this case I'd choose the rb26 based off sound alone.
