  • By request, my first upload in quite a while. A classic from the album Chicago featuring Terry Kath once again. Mostly him and the horns. I kept in the two prominent drums fills as they are audible on the guitar and horn tracks anyway. The bleed-through of the drums proves that the backing was recorded live, horns and all! As always, hope you enjoy!

The "Whhooooo Hooooooooo" gets me in the gut everytime. So much joy in that voice. Man, its wonderful we have 11 albums of Kaths greatness but heartbreaking he gets overlooked constantly.

I’ve never heard anything like it; intense and joyful! I wish he was still around!

    His vocals are #ChefsKiss 😙👌🏾.
Are we sure he’s not related to Ray Charles? Uncanny similarities.

He was SUCH an amazing guitarist and singer! Your reference to Ray Charles is in line with what I’ve always thought.

Which version of the song is this? I noticed in the second chorus after line “feel the magic” we get a different “oooohhhh” from terry that I haven’t been able to find on other versions of the song

I have been trying to figure this out too.

The drum bleed-through could be coming through TK's headphones so it's not certain that the backing track was all live.

How are you able to isolate tracks this way? I have studio experience (20 years ago) but have no idea how to do this from a commercial stereo mix.

I acquired rips from the Rock Band game that are isolated. It's not extracted from the commercial mix although I understand that it is possible to do so nowadays. People are making true stereo mixes from mono recordings with excellent results.
