www.aspinallfou... In the African jungle, conservationist Damian Aspinall, along with his daughter Tansy Aspinall, searches for Djalta and Bimms, two western lowland gorillas born at Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent. In 2003, Djalta and Bimms were released into the forest of Gabon, West Africa as part of a conservation programme to re-introduce gorillas back to the wild. Will Damian find them? Will they accept his daughter, Tansy, who they haven’t seen for 12 years?
For more updates about Djalta and Bimms, as well the other pioneering work by The Aspinall Foundation, follow Damian Aspinall on twitter at DamianAspinall

In the early ‘90’s in Florida, I had the marvelous experience of holding a baby gorilla. I’m not sure of his age, he was about the size of a 10 month old human baby on average. He had a diaper on, and sat cradled on my left hip with his arm around my neck. He was strong. I could smell his breath, not good! Lol. His eyes looked orange in the sunlight, little nostrils wet and shiny. His little fingers looked so human. He looked at me with such affection, it makes me cry even now. I held him for about 5 minutes, it was an experience I’ll never forget. They are truly beautiful creatures.

Not gonna be pessimistic but, we are more closely related to chimpanzees than gorillas. Chimpanzees are omnivores just like us (gorillas are herbivores, with occasional bug eating). Chimpanzees also participate in territorial wars, like us. Chimpanzees don't just kill other chimpanzees who enter their territory, they brutally dismember their entire body. Chimpanzees are super fucking cruel and they are more closely related to us than any other living animal. So perhaps it's not so strange that we humans also are cruel to others outside our tribe.

what??? I really don't see what good they do. Taking up space, contributing nothing but scaring people and making movies, zoos and circuses. I was at a garage sale a few years ago and they had the hands of one of these things mounted on a long piece of cherry (wood) and they were set so that they could hold a gun! it was awesome and I don't know why I didn't buy that thing. oh well maybe one day will get the chance to blast one and make my own. Hopefully there is one of its offspring around so I can make one for my son's bb gun. I hope I get the chance, getting harder now with people acting like these are great creatures and bonding the great big monkey. I would like to take out a couple myself, really bond them together with a blast from some ot buchshot or a slug, you would want a slug only if you had a pump, a one shot break action 12 gauge slug would be a mistake. you miss, you have to reload. But with glorious buckshot, those bb's spread, you don' t ev e n have to be that accurate! and that is important with these goofy sob's! you miss and have to reload, you better be quick, unless you want to be torn to pieces by one of these filthy savage beasts! i thought that was what the video was! lol really. I thought it was tips for safely taking out a couple of these stinking things!

I just watched a special crocodile hunter diaries with Steve Irwin when he came to Howlettes and these gorillas were going to Africa and I felt so sad for Damian, his wife, but especially sad for his daughter Tansy crying because she was worried they would be killed in Africa and they were like siblings for her that she grew up with. I did a google search to see if like Bindi Irwin, Tansy has continued to be involved with her fathers life’s work and legacy. I was so excited to find this video and see the 2 young gorillas recognize and still have such love and affection for both Damian and Tansy. It was beautiful to see!!!! Thank you for all of the work you all do helping these gorillas as well as the other animals to breed and also go back to the wild and to have babies born in the wild to the gorillas that were born in captivity is incredible.

Beautiful! If different species can get along...then why can't humans regardless of color, culture, gender, sexual orientations etc!?!? It all boils down to LOVE! Caring for one another should come easily as shown in this particular video. Some people should take a cue from the animals!

That's really sweet. They are so in tune with everything around them, from when to be gentle and when to be playful. I'm glad they are doing well in their natural habitat and what a treat it must've been for yourself and them to see each other again . =)
