Cutting mikes CAN work if the moderators are actually fair and neutral.
I don´t want to watch a two to three hour long screaming match between two people trying to constantly outdo and interrupt one another.
      Here cutting mikes could work.
Person A gets 5 min to speak and can do so without getting interrupted.
Person B can then respond WITHOUT getting interrupted.
Unfortunately we have seen that the moderators wasn´t fair or neutral in any meaningful way.

The debate was a massive disappointment. Vance won - he was very respectable. However, the questions focused on Abortion, Childcare, and Climate Change. There was no mention of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (and any thoughts to resolve that issue) or China (looking to invade Taiwan, spying in the US, beginning aggressive military provocations against the US), and the Iranian nuclear capabilities and their threat to the US. The moderators glanced over the massively ballooning US debt load and the fact spending needs to be curtailed. There was no mention of the US military being understaffed and the navy being inadequate on the needed number of ships. Very little was said about protecting the First Amendment as well as active military in harm’s way. Additionally, and I know that this is naïve on my part, but nothing came up about President Biden being infirmed and the consideration of invoking the 25th Amendment. The presidency is not a popularity conference. It is a serious job for serious people.

You are getting close. Keep questioning. I.e. Question why Russia invaded Ukraine. Question why the CIA overthrew the Ukraine government in 2014. Question why Hillary chose Russia to claim collusion on when she lost 2016. Question why Flynn was singled out for prosecution because he thought China to be a worse threat than was Russia. Question why we had so much CIA outposts in Ukraine. Question why we were doing so much biological research in Ukraine labs. Question why the intelligence apparatus along with their associated political party seem to eagerly want a 3rd. World War. Debt absolution? Anyway, have the best day.

They all got nervous when Walz started talking about guns and school shooters the moderators were terrified because the "weapons I carried into war" is another huge issue. Those ladies did their best to protect Walz but you can see his body language is BAD he can't even stand still. He doesn't speak well and it looked like he was in pain the whole time. When Walz said he's become "friends with school shooters," where was MSNBC and CNN to fact check?

  • @RupertFoulmouth
    @RupertFoulmouth หลายเดือนก่อน +11

I have come to hate the term "Fact Check" because it seldom has anything to do with actual facts. Politicians on all sides have always had a gift of presenting a narrow slice of truth and claiming it is the whole truth. Modern fact checking is just trying to put one point of view on top of another

Oh you can be sure they make a lot more than that *minimum* average that they are claiming in those news clips. Data from the FY 2019-20 Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor Annual Report states that there was 3,726 Deep Sea Longshore Workers that were paid $621,858,750.79, an average of $166,897. Of that number, 1,235 (~1/3 of the workers) made 200K or more. Only 368 workers made 50K or less, The total remuneration is higher when considering the benefits like health care, pensions, vacations, etc...
The union is really backwards on this issue of modernization. They should be fighting for mechanical, instrument and electrical training so the workers can transition to support the change to automation and not just be displaced by automation. It's the equivalent of the union of stable hands/horse handlers fighting to prevent the introduction of automobiles.

I've worked jobs with Teamsters unions. Ultimately, unions hide behind the veneer of "protecting workers, protecting jobs," but in reality they only want to protect their ungodly cashflows. The number of financial scandals involving unions, particularly on the East Coast, in the last 50+ years is staggering - unions are synonymous with organized crime. Collective bargaining is better overall, putting an end to the deep, deep corruption of unions.

I thought the debate was horribly baised myself. First from the standpoint of the questions asked, and the questions NOT asked.
Nothing about afghanistan, and the left behind Americans and Allies and Air Bases, and Billions of dollars of brand new equipment gifted to terrorists and the bllack market.
Nothing about how We shut off domestic pipelines, and OPENED Putins pipeline, which had been under sanctions, which allowed Putin to afford this invasion.
Nothing about Iran's Sanctions being lifted. Sanctions which prevented Iran from using massive wealth to fund terrorism, which after Harris Admin came into office, Funds were released, sanctions lifted, and War started, funded basically by American Policy.
Not much about the Fentenyl Epidemic except in passing, etc.
These were all questions that either made the Demmocrats look good, or gave them a chance for damage control.
But here is the most GLARING unfairness, and I'm shocked that nobody mentioned it.
Walz was answering ONE question, his opponent Vance should have been answering the EXACT same question. But the way this was cooked up and twisted, Not only did Vance have to Answer the original question, and Walz's response, but they gave a NEW question at the same moment, which was specific to Vance.
This was a type of 3 against one, in tactics, because Vance had to answer the original question, respond to Walz's response, AND respond to an entirely different question (attack). This is not how fair debates work.
Vance was forced to be defensive, waste his time on a 2nd question attack each round, while still addressing the original question and answer, without seeming to be rushed, defensive, or avoiding the question. An impossible task. It appeared that Walz had MORE time, for this very reason, even tho I'm sure it wasn't true. That would be too obvious. What they did, was add extra work for Vance, and cut up Walz's steak for him, and fed it to him.
