This movie was a staple of my childhood. I even rode BMX well into my 20's. I wore out the VHS tape watching this movie. It was more impactful than star wars for me. I LOVED it and still do.

This movie HAS to be one of the most rented VHS tapes in the 80s. I absolutely LOVED this movie as a kid. For me it was BMX, Skateboarding and Ninjas growing up. A good weekend was renting American ninja, Thrashin and RAD.

born in 86 but my brother was 81. I would beg my mom to make my brother let me watch it in his room with his friends and it was like I was in the VIP lounge with the coolest dudes in town, watching the coolest movie of all time. Nobody will understand the impact of this movie unless you were a part of it. Absolutely groundbreaking.

This movie was such a huge part of my childhood. It was because of this movie that I got a ‘91 GT Performer; neon yellow with black mags. I sucked lol but man, when I was on it, I felt like I just won Helltrack! And the songs…oh man…Thunder In Your Heart and Break The Ice…dude I’m 40 now and I still jam out to those tunes today. Criminally underrated classic!!

At the 25th anniversary in Calgary, Hal was asked what is his favorite movie he's made. To paraphrase his answer "I know what movie you want me to say, but my favorite is Hooper, its a movie about the Hollywood stunt world, basically a movie about my life. I also love Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run because of how successful they were. BUT non of those movies ever had any type of reunion, and here we are in Calgary with hundreds of fans"

I BMXed for nearly 3 years in the 80s because of this, and we were the founders of the movement in my hometown. We had nothing, no rotors, no chromoly frames. But we still rocked. Nice times! Greetings from Messi`s town in Argentina :-)

Super crazy he talks about the number 33 right off the bat!! I saw that in the movie and knew exactly what it was all about. It shows the world who truly is in control. As a kid I never noticed, but now I notice it in absolutely EVERYTHING. Cool to have a Texas connection with you guys.

I just happened upon the movie at a video rental store way back in 1988 and I had my dad get it. It became a major staple of my childhood. I had a BMX bike at the time and try as I might I was in my dad's driveway trying stunts which lead to many scrapes, scratches and bruises.

I would love to ask Bill if he knows where those "rhinestone parachute pants" are during the bike dance "Bicycle boogie" scene in Rad (is that Rodney Bingenheimer doing the announcing in that scene?)I never noticed him as a 14 year old, watching this movie and only noticed it just few months ago at 51. Those are most unique and I actually think they're pretty cool& vintage.

He’s absolutely right about RAD having such a tremendous impact on BMX the movie included elements of Flatland, Vert/Park, Street, Dirt Jumping & Racing which are the primary competitive areas of BMX & it had the biggest impact on BMX until ESPN’s X-Games (which began nine years later, during the summer of 1995 in Providence & Newport, Rhode Island). This movie blurred the line between Freestyle BMX (Flatland, Vert, Park & Street) & BMX Racing.

In the '80s, while my peers were playing with GI Joe figures and playsets, I spent many afternoons riding and doing tricks on my Diamond Back BMX bike with mag wheels. I have the scars on my knees and elbows to prove the amount of nasty spills I took trying to emulate Cru Jones. I could never do all the tricks in RAD but I could do a couple and it felt incredible when you can pop a wheelie and spin the handle bar several times. This movie is a reminder of how times were better in the '80s and believe it or not, Lori Loughlin from 1986 was a complete smokeshow.

I love dBMX as a kid and it was a huge part of my life as a kid in no small part to this movie. Today I ride gravel, which is actually much more like the qualifying races in Rad than any riding I did as a kid. Point is, I'm almost 40 and I can easily say that this movie is a huge reason I've loved cycling since as far back as I can remember.

I'd go rent Rad as a kid start watching it then in the middle of it quit watching it and go get on my bike and hit some jumps my dad let me build with the loader. Even in the freezing cold I'd do that lol . Eventually got to race for a few years then got to high school and it faded out till just recently picked up a 91 Dyno and a 90 performer..lol still living the dream

I was 18 when this movie was released in theaters. I remember my friends and I didn't have a party to go to that night so we ended up in Hollywood and one of my friends wanted to watch the movie. I used to ride BMX in the late 1970s so I agreed. I thought the movie was cheesy but also enjoyable. I developed a crush on Aunt Becky.
