Also at an intersection with lights, pedestrians that are walking across the side you are turning left on, you must give way before you make the turn. Doesn't mean it's done though.

We love birds because we used to only have birds in New Zealand. Anything that isn’t a bird (or has wings) was introduced. And while we don’t have the right of way, we still act like we do. The cars won’t run you over here and most people will slow to let you cross even in heavy traffic. You’ll learn the “crossing the road hop” as we call it. You almost jump off one foot repeatedly until you are to the other side. (It only takes about 4 steps!) and the zebra crossings are strictly tourist only. You should spend a day in Christchurch (central city or as we call it, “town”.) sometime soon! We have this boba shop in the riverside market and this place called rolickin’ gelato just around the corner. Fucking mint bro! And the fudge cottage is a good stop too. Enjoy nz! (It’s pretty cool). Depends on where in the country you are, it's less friendly the higher the population density IMO. I think you'll find that everywhere though. I have a theory about society breaking down at higher population densities, bit much to go into here though. Noticed it when I lived in Auckland.
Yeah, especially if you mention sheep or call us pomy Australians. You'll get a complimentary black eye. Also if you leave you damn rubbish everywhere. God damn visitors leave their rubbish and crap everywhere and not clean it up. Pisses us off to no end.
On zebra crossings if the car hasnt passed the diamond and at lights when they get the green man. Other than that they certainly dont, and shouldnt either.
New Zealand is one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit. Renting or buying a house on their low wages is very difficult. Food prices in Supermarkets are outrageous and don't start me on their health system. Unless its an accident which is fully covered, there is no health system unless you are privately insured. Very much like the US. Never go to NZ without travel insurance. New Zealand is very senic and nice to visit but take double the money you think you will need. Petrol prices are $3 a litre. Thats $12 a gallon for gas for Americans, but less as the US dollar is worth almost double so closer to US $7
As Kiwi...main issue to be aware of are scumbags...ever more of them these days. Do not assume that your vehicle will not be broken into if left in an area not in a busy public spot. Avoid city steets late at nigjt or early hours... especially on Fridays or Satirdays ...can get a bit fighty.
Lol petrol has never been $3 that is exaggerated. And not sure what you mean by the health system?????? I have had 3 babies all free didn’t cost me anything, i had surgery last month and had a lump removed free of charged! i was covered for an accident i had, i was also offered disability. My disabled son who is autistic gets well looked after by the government, and when covid hit my bills were paid, kids were fed. So unsure what you are talking about?? My rent is extremely cheap, im currently saving for a house deposit. No different from anyone else my age. The only thing i agree on is the food prices. But food is expensive everywhere including petrol not sure why new zealand gets picked on for that?? My kids can go to school without having to worry about mass shootings. I would much rather pay extra for petrol than live in a society where guns are given to anyone.

Yep - cats are a serious problem here now. 20 years ago there would be a dawn bird chorus every morning that was so loud it would wake you up. But now? You'd be lucky to hear even just one or two birds.... and that is, in main part ,because of cats. Cats need to be kept solely indoors, if we're going to have any chance of increasing the bird population again.
I am a NZer and what I love most is to be able to go into any bush (forest) roll in any field, climb any tree and not have to worry about any deadly creature.. maybe wild boar but that's about it.

Agree
Your comments about New Zealand are so nice!
Interesting!
Aotearoa is an incredible country. Thank you for recognising her beauty
pedestrians DO have the right way
On zebra crossings if the car hasnt passed the diamond and at lights when they get the green man. Other than that they certainly dont, and shouldnt either.
I'm a South African that lives in NZ been here for always
@@ProximaCentairi24my car and van have lived on a main road for 7 years as my house doesnt have a driveway. Never been broken into. Neither have my parents cars or my 3 brothers. Maybe where you are from. Never happened where i am from.
What are you on? If you're not registered at a doctor the visit will be like $100 max. And that's NZD. Hospital is still free. Ambulance at most will ask for a donation
@@Shae_SandybanksI know America has got it worse but even that 100$ is enough for me to put of the doctors lol just can't go
Yes Im super happy to be a kiwi seeing NZ vids!
Im in new zealand never left and probably never wanna leave i love this country 😊
Maori landz❤ Don’t be a settler, be kind and support the Indigenous people while you are a guest, it is the bare minimum.
@@bigboy0625 LMAO you call kiwis racist, then you make a racist comment, and then you like both your own comments to soothe your ego. You clearly need some deep introspection and healing. Girl bye 💀
omg stfu you making us look bad maori wanting a handout
@@bigboy0625 lmao the 3 to 2 like within 10 mins of me responding to u is really transparent sis, using other accounts is pretty pathetic but ur type always are haha. anyways Indigenous power and pride always, stay mad
Get a job bro😂
@@kiwi8. lol not another offended old hag, indigenous land is indigenous land, that shouldn’t make u cry girly 💀
It's things like these that make me so proud to be a Kiwi.
I live in New Zealand…. We would ‘love birds’ far more effectively if, as well as trapping possums etc we also BANNED CATS AS BLOODY PETS!!!!!
New Zealand is the most beautiful place in the world ❤
It’s very pretty!
South island scenery is so amazing! Glad you enjoyed NZ!
This is completely unbiased. But as a kiwi I believe this is the best country in the world hands down.
I am a NZer and what I love most is to be able to go into any bush (forest) roll in any field, climb any tree and not have to worry about any deadly creature.. maybe wild boar but that's about it.
I was born in nz and lived here my whole life. Yeah, you get used to it.
As a kiwi (adult - totally different breed hen I was a kid) I don’t purposely go bare foot… but if I turn up at any store/supermarket without shoes? I would have no hesitation about going in…
It’s just how we do it in NZ…
I live in South Canterbury in the South Island and tbh there’s nothing that special about my country but that’s just probably because I’m used to New Zealand
I SAW NUGGET POINT! one of my favourite places to visit other than mouth cook, they’re both stunning places
Im a proud kiwi and so greatful that someone is finally talking about our country❤😊
welcome to OUR world especially in the west coast south island our main outfit is Drovers, redband Gumboots or bare feet. Also our native animals are mostly birds like the kiwi.Yes camping is great here. Also I had so many lambs as pets with cows horse and ginny pigs included.
It may seem small but it's always an adventure wherever u go!!!!! Can i get a pin?
Just be ready for winter not much snow but can be cold❄️
Been here all my life its the best
And yes we love birds
Sadly some cats and ferrets have been killing them.
As a kiwi this makes me so happy to know we aren't gonna be ignored ☺️
We hope u enjoy the rest of your lives here!☺️❤️
I live in New Zealand (my whole life since i was a baby i was born here) it's so amazing and once there was an Aroha and that reminded my mum of her Sister that died
Im from New Zealand! I love it its so pretty
People have always said how unusual and beautiful the sound of our native birds are.
Living out of town with bush all around I used to be woken every morning by tui and bellbird and have fantails flitting around inches from my face but thanks to some ratsak and a bb gun I now sleep like a log.
Finally someone talking about new Zealand our beautiful country
Lolol when she mentioned pedestrians don't have right of way here I had flashbacks lf everytime I told someone or thought of telling someone to get off the bloody road 😂
Im so happy for you i hope you have a great time here
Like omg thank you I lived there my whole life it is this amazing 😊
I was born there and it is truly an amazing place!!!
Hey Thanks for the compliment I have been living here since I was 2
I live in NZ but either I’m living on the wrong island or I’m blind, is this the north or south?
Pedestrians may not have right of way but there a much fewer cars on the road than America (except for Auckland) and people are take you into consideration. If you are trying to cross a road and someone notices that you have been waiting a while for a gap, they will stop for you.
I was born in Cromwell, but brought up on Minaret Sheep Station - at the Head of Lake Wanaka from 1946 - 1950. Then Athol and Eyre Creek. Not many can say they were brought up in Middle Earth. Now I live in London. Why ? You could not then - make a living looking at a magnificent View. Maybe now that you can work Remote? 😅😅
Yeah happy to have you here in new Zealand
As someone who lives in Aotearoa, it is so nice to see that people actually see us like this❤❤😊😊🥹🥹
Would love to get down to Glenorchy again soon...maybe I need to plan a nice road trip.
Our birds are so cool and unique I love the kiwi
I live in christchurch here are some recommendations to go to Queenstown hamner springs and hagly park
happy to hear you like it
