- I recently made over our entire kitchen including the island. We removed the old, built in kitchen island and came up with a creative solution for the odd shape it left in our flooring without replacing all of the flooring.

I AM DYING AT THIS!! LOL My husband gets on me for not wearing shoes all the time! He says I will hurt myself, but I feel more comfortable barefoot, so I usually am!

How did you guys remove the countertop? I have the same island and want to do something like this. Thanks!
The countertop was screwed into the cabinets from the under side. We unscrewed it and cut the caulk around the edges with a razor and lifted it off.

Did u anchor the frame to ur cement floor?
The floor has underlayment, and yes we screw it into the floor.
What did you do with the electricity?
We capped it off. But we could have easily installed a new outlet in the island, just didn’t really like the look of it and didn’t need one.

I have plans to do something similar, and DIY as I go. I was happy to see someone else not have these elaborate plans and have it turn out wonderfully! Nice work!
