The raids are so damn good Joardee. Even on replaying the fights on long duration phases, after phase 1 feels so much more fun for longer and the fights are so much more satisfying to reclear weekly. I can't put my finger one exactly why but the encounter design is just so well done. Only one or two weak/gimmicky fights in 16+13+14=43 total raid encounters. Been blasting raids on Mistblade since April to refresh from my Guild and Heroic raid leading and clearing the raids when MoP was current. We are in for a fucking treat. Great normal and heroic tuning and reward systems that make raiding feel maybe the best it has ever felt.
MoP is when I went hardest on WoW, I'm leveling characters now in anticipation. The talent system, or lack of, didn't bother me. They basically just gave you the best talents as passives.
I know this isn't the spirit of the "Classic" community, and that there may be a break point at Mists of Pandaria for a lot of the oldest, dyed in the wool Blizzard purest's, but I'm about to lose sleep for months playing it, and completing EVERY - SINGLE - STORY - IN - THIS - EXPANSION!!! So many "streamers" and again, seemingly older gamers thought this was simply an April fool's joke taken to far... but the reality of introducing the TRUE "Eastern Kingdoms" to World of Warcraft is a seminal moment that I personally could replay 1000 times, and never get tired of! It is simply too beautiful!! It is simply too deeply steeped in lore!!! The emotional struggle encapsulated by this expansion DEFINED the Horde and Alliance for the next decade, and introduced/awoke characters the world had DESPERATELY needed and set in motion events that would be playing out all the way 'til Battle For Azeroth!
I'll miss it in a few years. I got my fill recently. Give it a few years and I'll be fully on board for another go, probably with a different class and role.
Let me be the only positive person in the comments. Im looking forward so much towards MoP. WoTLK, MoP and Legion are for me the best three. Dont really care if its not considered Classic. Theres SoD, Era and hardcore servers you can play. You have Turtle wow and Ascension if you're looking for more private stuff. MoP is gonna be a fucking blast to play again.

I always preferred the Challenge Mode system vs the M+ systems we have today. I thought it was really cool that the rewards for doing higher difficulty dungeons on a speed timer was purely cosmetic rewards. It made it prestigious to do but not mandatory for gear progression. Raiding has always felt better in an MMO to me
The truth is that the BEST WOW expansion is when you had a ton of free time and no responsibilities so you could no life it and play non-stop (Usually late middle school and high school). Many of us have seeked that peak nostalgia again when older and that time in your life is not coming back. Focus on other things and grow as a person.
tanking from cata to mop will be so different especially with hit and expertise going away making it alot of fun to do and not having to worry about seeing " miss, parry, dodge"

I would think that Blizz would start making a habit of introducing newer features into classic servers to make them fresher... I could see them attempting to make shared rep with your alts a thing in MoP Classic, being as there are a few rep changes made, like "Friends".... this would be a good time to make classic more alt friendly. I don't know how this would work come the eventual WoD classic with garrisons, but then I could also see them completely skipping WoD all together...

If they do MoP… it needs to renamed from classic. I think majority of the player base see Classic as Vanilla WoW, or the Classic Trilogy of Vanilla, Burning Crusade, and Wrath. Calling MoP Classic feels like calling The Force Awakens as part of the “Original Trilogy” in Star Wars terms
Hot take: add some of the retail changes to Classic+. Core classes, core races, core Classic 2019 game with new instances (raids and dungeons, and DELVES! there, I said it). I want personal loot in raids and I want a raid currency like there will be in the new BRD Raid in Retail to BUY the raid items after I earn enough currency if they haven't dropped for me. Add to this some class spec changes to smooth out Prot/Ret paladin, Boomy, Res for Resto druid, etc. Take my money.
Classic is silly at this point. Anything beyond wrath was a little excessive imo but whatever. Beyond Classic Warlords and Legion within the next few years I’d want to see Blizz shift toward this: 1. Retail. 2. Seasonal Classic Vanilla-ish 1-60 servers that cycle up through Naxxramas. 1 megaserver of each per region. Classic+: take what did and did not work in SoD plus some additional stuff from BC/Wrath. Quicker phases 1-25, 25-40, 40-60 with added/tweaked content. 60+ raiding continues as it is in SoD but then add in ZA, Karazhan and other dungeons. Add in more battlegrounds and world PvP objectives that rotate through zones similar to STV Bloodmoon. Keep everything in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, expand into zones that aren’t used like Grim Batol, Hyjal, Uldum, Caverns of Time. There is so much space for content and keep stuff on Azeroth would keep the classic feel. Add a few more flight paths and give players and item to increase the taxi speed and it would be amazing.
I love MoP. As much as I don't like MoP's talent system, it forced them to do something to make it work. The classes are just designed incredibly well to begin with.

Game systems change enough over multiple expansions that they are hardly recognisable anymore. But also on a personal selfish note, Legion would be a pretty good end point for Classic as it wraps up the Burning Legion story (for the most part) that has been going since Warcraft 3 (and retroactively since the very first Warcraft: Orcs vs Humans). Ending on having Artifact weapons and defeating the Legion would be satisfying to me, but that's personal bias.

Swapped over to the Warmane servers when Cata released. Wrath still has a huge player base on the private servers. I am really surprised blizzard hasn't put up a wrath server seems like they are leaving money on the table with the amount of people playing on the private servers.
Play an hour of era and then an hour of Cata. You will very quickly realise how far Cata is from Era. Cata is the beginning of pre modern wow. Classic= era, tbc, wotlk, modern is Cata onward, and retail is whatever the most current expansion.

Classic WOW is before Activision acquired Blizzard Entertainment, and changed the focus of the game from an RPG with quests to a defacto-multiplayer first-person shooter with a focus on jumping to end game as fast as possible.

I was told cata would change classic for the better as well and the devs did nothing with it and t11 has drug on so long most guilds are just stopping raiding till firelands because it’s so boring. Its just a raid log fest

Raid content becomes more difficult with each addon and now the quality of players becomes no less important than their quantity. And those people who do not go to current raids leave on their own, and this is how it should be, because there is no benefit from them. Their place is in vanilla.
You can expect maybe a little bit more then Cata already has. You won't get the big boom you expect. Many left already and those that left won't return for MoP like they didn't when Cata Classic came out.
Do you take into account that in addition to the loss of old players who could not adapt to difficult raids, new players came who were waiting for the cataclysm and pandaria.
@Quadromil4 when you take the amount of players that came in and that left more left then they came in for Cata so in the end it's less players then you had in Wotlk Classic. I'm on Gehenas and in Wotlk it was at its peak in population count (nearly 20k if I remember) now you have half of that number, so don't expect MoP to give you anything major because many people that like Cata will leave when MoP comes out. Best case scenario is that that you will have at least a bit more players then now, but not as much as in Wotlk.
MOP will not change the playercount, classic is dead, gone and buried with the decline in players in Cata. And btw, just because they call it "classic", doesn't make it classic.

And at first harder content seems fun, and yes its still doable. However, you cannot solo all the content, so you need to be able to find others that can actually do it too. Thats where the issue comes in. People getting toxic, gatekeeping, finding a decent group for whatever content is gonna take forever so waste of time. Just like retail, try getting in a M+ group. Before you actually in a game u can wait half a night, then you have to hope people are capable enough to clear it in time. Its just not fun anymore. And then you can do GDKP, but I'm not gonna buy a shit ton of gold to be able to bid on items I should be able to just loot. (Ban GDKP imo)
They're not good but they forced Blizzard to make the classes great to make them work. MoP had some of the best class design they've ever had in the game.

Tbc is also not a classic. The classic is vanilla, but this is only important for vanilla fans. And the rest of the people are satisfied with everything and they are happy.
Started War Within 2 months ago. It's ridiculous how much better WoW is right now in terms of gameplay. Classic is fun for nostalgia, but TWW is literally better on every aspect.
we needed them to stop shunting the servers an progressing them all to the next expansion, they could have easily left half the realms in TBC and wrath, and opening up fresh progression realms for the new and previous classic iterations.
Classic is dead! Wotlk was the last classic expac! Cata is the beginning of retail versions where QoL was nice change but far from what classic once was or is.
I wish they would just kill off classic as it is and make a few time locked progression servers that just rotate from vanilla to WotLK in a short time(comparatively speaking of course). Maybe one would be the game as it was, and one would have a new gimmick every rotation.

MOP Classic is an oxymoron.
Play an hour of era and then an hour of Cata. You will very quickly realise how far Cata is from Era. Cata is the beginning of pre modern wow. Classic= era, tbc, wotlk, modern is Cata onward, and retail is whatever the most current expansion.
classic is anything thats not current. classic is just another word for legacy, and legacy is anything in the past that isnt today.
This was never what "classic" meant. Are you seriously telling me that if blizzard ever released wod or shadowlands we would consider that classic? That makes no sense. They have nothing in common with the original trilogy.
Classic Wow is a trilogy.

The only reasons I can fathom is that it finished the story of Warcraft 3, and the old world remained unchanged (which lets be honest, hardly matters nowadays since the community spams RDF or pays for boosts). In terms of gameplay loop and mechanics, Wrath is far closer to Cataclysm than it is to TBC.

I like your take. Its all old content that means something different to everyone. The word classic is just a word for old. Classic rock when i grew up was 70s. Now Korn is 30 years old and is on classic rock stations
to wait 15 levels wasnt that bad actually.... with the Heirlooms and the XP Elixier u can farm from that one Rare mob it was really fast.... well of course not with this time after blizzard changed it with carries xD had 2 accounts so i can carry myself in low lvl dungeons and level so fast that was just awesome

Classic WOW is before Activision acquired Blizzard Entertainment, and changed the focus of the game from an RPG with quests to a defacto-multiplayer first-person shooter with a focus on jumping to end game as fast as possible.

@@MrGhosTRideRrR Activision took over about during the end of the TBC. Their cancerous influence to the game started showing once they brought up the first store item, the Celestial Steed around late Wrath, which made more money than Starcraft 2 by itself.
I was told cata would change classic for the better as well and the devs did nothing with it and t11 has drug on so long most guilds are just stopping raiding till firelands because it’s so boring. Its just a raid log fest

cata sure changed everything in active player count.
Raid content becomes more difficult with each addon and now the quality of players becomes no less important than their quantity. And those people who do not go to current raids leave on their own, and this is how it should be, because there is no benefit from them. Their place is in vanilla.

You can expect maybe a little bit more then Cata already has. You won't get the big boom you expect. Many left already and those that left won't return for MoP like they didn't when Cata Classic came out.
Do you take into account that in addition to the loss of old players who could not adapt to difficult raids, new players came who were waiting for the cataclysm and pandaria.
@Quadromil4 when you take the amount of players that came in and that left more left then they came in for Cata so in the end it's less players then you had in Wotlk Classic. I'm on Gehenas and in Wotlk it was at its peak in population count (nearly 20k if I remember) now you have half of that number, so don't expect MoP to give you anything major because many people that like Cata will leave when MoP comes out. Best case scenario is that that you will have at least a bit more players then now, but not as much as in Wotlk.

And at first harder content seems fun, and yes its still doable. However, you cannot solo all the content, so you need to be able to find others that can actually do it too. Thats where the issue comes in. People getting toxic, gatekeeping, finding a decent group for whatever content is gonna take forever so waste of time.
Just like retail, try getting in a M+ group. Before you actually in a game u can wait half a night, then you have to hope people are capable enough to clear it in time. Its just not fun anymore.
And then you can do GDKP, but I'm not gonna buy a shit ton of gold to be able to bid on items I should be able to just loot. (Ban GDKP imo)

Started War Within 2 months ago. It's ridiculous how much better WoW is right now in terms of gameplay. Classic is fun for nostalgia, but TWW is literally better on every aspect.

we needed them to stop shunting the servers an progressing them all to the next expansion, they could have easily left half the realms in TBC and wrath, and opening up fresh progression realms for the new and previous classic iterations.

I wish they would just kill off classic as it is and make a few time locked progression servers that just rotate from vanilla to WotLK in a short time(comparatively speaking of course). Maybe one would be the game as it was, and one would have a new gimmick every rotation.

I quit in original Mop exactly because of all of these changes and the raid finder ......I know it's all person al taste , but the game just stopped feeling like WoW to me.
