      I was in kindergarten when this happened, I only had class for half a day and I didn't go in until later, so I was still at home with my mom the morning the attacks happened. I remember watching the news with her while it all happened live. I don't recall going to school that day and I remember for the next few weeks my parents mostly watched the news. It was a lot to process at that age seeing how all the adults were so scared after what happened and as a kid barely able to realize the magnitude

      WHY DOES THIS SURPRISE YOU? PAGERS go off because THE GOVERNMENT NETWORK allows them to. That plane already escalated alerts because 911 calls were reporting a low flying aircraft. It started moving up the chain before anyone died yet. And yes the beepers go off after the delay in the system. A delay caused by their lower priority. The alert goes out to the people that matter first, civilians should try to stay out of the way and off the highways in a true crisis.

The legendary days of Toonami, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Digimon, Gundam Wing, G Gundam, Tenchi Muyo, Ronin Warriors, Power Rangers, and other amazing cartoons and anime back then. Since then, I've worked at Pixar as an intern, and Deck Nine as a game animator. I was in science class in 6th grade when it happened. The mean science teacher turned on the television during class and I remember her saying, "This is sick" or "This is disgusting." She had all the students watch it during class. After kids went back to place with their parents, that was when it was all over the news and parents explained what happened. The same generation that can't find jobs or make money right now. I've never seen this whole video but this is fascinating. Say what you want about politicians, most very much deserve the criticism they receive but this really makes Bush seem a lot more human. You can literally see the internal struggle on his face as he's trying to process what he just heard while maintaining a professional demeanor for the kids.

    • @Cassxowary
      @Cassxowary ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That was just a tumbleweed passing through… and he is human, one of the most horrible ones, but a human nonetheless. Just like anyone else that harms humans or puppies and people rush to call them monsters while causing worse to others like us… still humans. But some don’t use their hearts and brains and are afraid, hurt, brainwashed and try to assert a false sense of superiority upon others due to being made to feel insecure and as if superior to any. He’s the best example with all the terrorism he and his cronies in the war business have caused before and especially after the result of their actions in retaliation to the consequences of their actions being paid back in a minute fraction.

We couldn't understand why all the adults were hysterically crying and running in and out of one another's rooms saying saying turn the news on, but my teacher turned on the news. (Maybe she shouldn't have, but I bet a lot of teachers did) and we saw the burning buildings.. We saw the people falling. She dropped to the floor in hysterics. That's when she said her brother works there.
      The next day after my parents tearfully explained what happened, I realized she was crying because her brother was ... Not here anymore. She was allowed as much time off as she needed, to cope, and deal with family arrangements.

The closest comparisons would be FDR and Pearl Harbor which was a pivotal event but focused on predominately military targets far from the mainland and Oklahoma City in the Clinton era which was domestic terrorism. Never has a US President before or since had to deal with an international terror plot targeting some of the world's tallest buildings in the heart of America's biggest city.

    The look in his eyes and disconnection in his body language

      yeah for like 30s to 1min his brain hadnt quite come to full realazation yet... but theres that moment when teacher is interacting w the class and you can tell she probably expecting him to involve himself in some way but he's literally zoned out just staring like a vietnam vet with that 1000 yard stare and then he comes back to reality and tries to be part of the reading but thats all thats on his mind...
      i never fully watched this or maybe i was just too young to understand how surreal that mustve been to hear the students chanting out the words while they read thru the book all while imagining a million different things and have to remain compoed as if nothing was happening... there many critisims which i agree w when it comes to bush jr but i do have to give him props for holding it together like he did while no doubt in the midst of a serious panic attack, especially how his relationship with all the secret service ppl in that room, he had to know all their mannerisms and body language especially when things were just normal good day no bad things happening and to look around and that is not the reaction or body language hes picking up on, then to see all the that same reation in the reporters faces... thats mustve sent that intial panic attack into something wild.
