My first pokemon game was Pokemon yellow, and I didn't understand how to catch pokemon, so I would train my pikachu up to level 20 until it learned slam, and then I could actually beat brock. I was a pretty dumb kid. :) Also, it was one of the first video games I ever played.
I feel there's a lot of untapped potential in monster raising games, but they would need to forcefully remove themselves from Pokemon's shadow in order to do so. Pokemon being in a weak spot with SwSh may be the break in the ice needed to get creative folk to toy around with Pokemon's (In addition to JRPGs in general, formula). Digimon is too busy trying to find itself, and Medabots is struggling to survive, so I guess one has to hope Indies do something interesting instead laying back on nostalgia.
Yeah, given the controversy surrounding Sword and Shield, I think that if some other decent looking monster taming game showed up it could drum up a lot of attention, especially with other mechanics inspired by various games like Megami Tensei or Dragon Quest Monsters. There are a number of indie games in the works (Monster Crown shows a lot of potential), but they probably won't become overnight successes like Undertale or Stardew Valley without significant support from a major publisher, and things like Temtem just seem like Not-Pokémon rather than their own thing. Digimon is likely the only competitor in any position to stand head-to-head with Pokémon.
Digimon knows itself and never tried to be like pokemon. Most monster taming games aren't trying to be like pokemon. Some are absolutely nothing like pokemon. Yet, in the west, any game with monster raising gets labeled as a pokemon clone or rip off. Then left to die. In Japan, monster raising games are very popular
The perfect Gen 1 game was never released. As you rightfully explained, if you mix Japanese Blue had some of the best trades in Gengar and Golem. It was a great loss. They should've included those in Yellow in Cinabar Island instead of Krabby and Eelectrode.
20:50 Reflect and Lightscreen last forever in gen 1, and the only way to remove them is Haze. Also did you edit that Mr Mime looking shocked before facing left, or was it an actual animation from the game itsel?
Red and blue were my favorite didn't care too much for yellow I played it before but couldn't get half through it was roo hard even with the three original starters I still couldn't take it
Evs first made appearance in gen 2. And were also technically in gen 1 under a different name. It's been a thing since the start. It's not just a gym badge thing and was not first introduced in gen 3
I have a love/hate relationship with Fire Red. I loved it when I got it, despite just being a remake of Gen 1. Played the hell out of it. But, on the other hand...I bought it instead of Ruby/Sapphire. I didn't even know R/S existed until years later. So I completely missed out on Gen 3. The issue is that when I got my parents to buy it for me, I didn't realize it was just a remake. I thought it was a whole new game. I was a dumb kid. So when I got it, I didn't even consider that another Pokemon game existed. I assumed Fire Red WAS Gen 3 until I got home and started to play it.
Why are you saying it as if having a remake of gen 1 was a bad thing? Those remakes were great and necessary upgrades. On top of that, it brought pokemon back that were impossible to bring into gen 3 at the time. And added a whole post game. The pixel art was also great. Those games were amazing at the time
@@sonic-bb It's not that it was a bad game or anything. I'm glad I got and played Fire Red. It's more a personal thing. I didn't realize Ruby and Sapphire existed, and my dumb kid brain saw Fire Red, thinking THAT was the new gen 3 game. I bought it, loaded it up, realized it was a remake. But never gave any thought to an actual gen 3 game existing. So I missed out on Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
"Bulbasaur, the... something."
Hello! I'm a green frog with a big green bulb on my back!

Dude I can’t stop howling of laughter listening to your videos.

14:01 My brother in Christ. This was already a thing in Gen III. But it was popular to shit on Sw/Sh so i'm not surprised.

Nah, that's just how the game looks when Light Screen is used.
38:04 nah they actually are mainline titles
Back when pokemon actually felt like an adventure in a dangerous world
I played Fire Red years ago. My first Pokemon experience, and it was a great one. I do wonder on what to play next.
Can't go wrong with HeartGold and SoulSilver.
I actually played smart ball when I was a kid (U.S. "Jerry Boy"). The first boss is a pidgeot
Red and blue were my favorite didn't care too much for yellow I played it before but couldn't get half through it was roo hard even with the three original starters I still couldn't take it
Well, You know... nowadays You can renovate Your Gameboy, give it new shell and buttons, even backlight. Great Vid.
did you mean digi mon
Yes, it's a gag based on the strange premise that living monsters can be converted into digital data.

Gens 1 and 2 both used the Stat Experience system. EVs were only introduced in gen 3 and replaced Stat Experience entirely.
Prise the new vid!
Prise!
Good God, that Eevee is bloody terrifying. I hate it!
Capsule Monsters
Capumon

@@TXFDA ohh I see I see
Valid complaints . The berry mechanics was a lame gimmick. Zelda on game boy had the same gimmick.
