I spent some time living in Japan. One of the strangest things I saw (in a country where strange sights are commonplace) was a Japanese street preacher in Osaka. The guy was giving it his all, but in that distinctly Japanese way, the people were simply walking by him as though he didn't exist. I saw then that that approach is NOT the way to spread the gospel in Japan. Japan is, in my opinion, one of the most difficult countries to penetrate with the gospel because the way we usually do it in the West simply doesn't work there. It has to be done personally, one on one, making disciples by personal example. That takes living what you preach, and many Western Christians (myself included) struggle with that, because our society makes it FAR easier to just...slack off. But as we see here, Japanese people are impressed by authenticity, especially in a culture where conformity is so powerful, and most people hide what they really think so as not to make waves. When you couple REAL authenticity with REAL Christian love, that's a powerful and potent mix that, given time, could absolutely change Japan.

I agree wholeheartedly - we should be that way with EVERYONE - one on one, personal, shine His light so that others will see. Demonstrate His love by loving others as He loves us.

I disagree, despite them walking past him. They can still hear the word. In the Bible Matthew 13; Luke 8; 13: “Who Hath Ears to Hear, Let Him Hear”. Once they hear the word Holy spirit will start to operate in their lives :)

With respect, people have been trying all kinds of methods for the past 150 years to no avail. The country still has under 1% believers. Honestly, it does not matter if you do it boldly on the street or taking a year to reach one person. Either way, there is no failure serving the Lord, because it is not up to us for them to trust Christ. That is their choice. Japanese ignore everyone in public street preacher or not. Japanese people are masters at appearing like they don't care, or are not listening -- however they are, but would never show it. There is no 'correct' method at this point.

He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy. Some of the testimonies of the godliest of western men start with the words of an unnoticed street preacher gnawing at their conscience.

I actually wondered if it was the opposite, that Japanese would rather hear the Gospel from other Japanese so that it's not seen as a foreigner pushing their beliefs on them. But I think it is interesting that you say many people are more likely to be curious about the Gospel if a foreigner is sharing it with them.
I've felt called to go to Japan and spend my life sharing the Gospel. Jesus saved me from depression and suicidal thoughts, and for multiple reasons Japan has been a significant part of my life. It is honestly my greatest desire in life to see a revival in Japan where people experience the joy of knowing Jesus. I know prayer is a big part of this. I have faith God will do it. I just want to be faithful in whatever the Lord calls me to do.
God bless you all! May Christ give us the courage to share the truth in love with everyone.

I think you need both Japanese and foreigners working together to share the Gospel in Japan.
I'm not Japanese but when I lived there for several years and shared my faith with my Japanese friends, I found that I did have an advantage in sharing about my faith compared to Japanese Christians. My non-believing Japanese friends seemed more open to hear my story of how I came to know Jesus, whereas it was more awkward for my Japanese Christian friends to bring up their salvation stories. Perhaps there was a natural curiosity towards me because I was a foreigner living in Japan, or perhaps it was because I was not bound by some of the cultural barriers inherent in Japanese society.
BUT I found that in the long run, it was the Japanese Christians' testimonies that really made the difference in the discipleship of the new Japanese believers. They need to see real examples of faith that were relevant to their context and spoke their heart language.
So I guess we as non-Japanese Christians can act as conversation-starters, but let our Japanese brothers and sisters continue the conversation.

I feel like the people that fight against Christianity but genuinely want to hear the case for it tend to become strong based in it after they become saved because it was something that was achieved by conflict. I have heard stories of people who have seen hell on earth and have become saved after a long battle against the idea of Christ but then something changes in them. At its core, following Christ is alleviating the suffering of those around you, because you fully grasp what your own suffering has taught you about how corrupt your heart truly is without Christ.

At least, the majority of Japanese people are not hostile to Christianity. In fact, a lot of Japanese people love Christmas, and many Japanese women wish to hold their wedding ceremonies at church. But they have no interest in Christian theology, and they don`t understand the concept of the original sin because they do not fit in the Japanese culture.

@@grantbartley483 In general, communist governments tend to be hostile toward religions, and a lot of religions people and churches have been persecuted historically. As Karl Marx said, “Religion is an opium.” I wonder how Xi Jinping thinks about Christianity and other religions. According to CBN News, the Chinese Communist Government cracks down on Chinese Christians.
      th-cam.com/video/rejNlImyif0/w-d-xo.html
On the other hand, the Japanese government does not oppress Christians because the Japanese constitution stipulates freedom of religions, and Christian missionaries are allowed to propagate among Japanese people, but Japan is one of the most unreached lands except North Korea. In spite of brutal persecution of the Tokugawa Shogunate, however, Japanese Christians have kept their faith in secret for nearly 300 years. They are called “Hidden Christians or Kakure Kirishitan in Japanese”.
      th-cam.com/video/Td0Mw5hccs8/w-d-xo.html
“Hidden Christians or Kakure Kirishitan in Japanese “ had hidden their faith in order to avoid persecution, but they had chosen to integrate their christian faith into Japanese culture and tradition. It was actually impossible to deceive the Tokugawa Shogunate and their neighbors. As far as “Hidden Christians” paid the land tax without a hitch, participated in festivals of local communities and stepped on plates with a picture of a crucifix (Fumie) regularly, the Tokugawa Shogunate turned blind eyes on their faith in secret. Because “Hidden Christians” were good members of the Japanese society, there was no reasons for the authorities to persecute them. In other words, “Hidden Christians” respected the Japanese culture and tradition and harmonized their faith with them.
After the Meiji Restoration, the Japanese government authorized Christianity, and people could believe Christianity freely, but I have an impression that Christians do not respect the Japanese culture and tradition due to its monotheistic nature. Mr. Kenichi Nakagawa, who is a pastor of Evangelical, says, “Japanese eyes are covered by Satan, and their spiritual level is quite low, that`s why Japanese people cannot accept the Gospel.” He also insists,”Do not be yoked together with unbelievers (Non Christians).”(2 Corinthians 6:14) Due to slanderous remarks about Japanese people and exclusive nature of Christianity, I do not think Japanese people are responsible for their apathy toward Christianity.

@@grantbartley483 simply put. Following post-WW2 there was a calling for 2000 young men from America to be sent to Japan as missionaries. Unfortunately, the churches in the Baptist conventions were busy infighting, due to the fruit produced by the new doctrines from the New Translations and as such very few to no missionaries were sent as a result. Because of this, instead of the hope-starved people of Japan receiving the Gospel, the Economic Miracle caused the rise of corporatism and money to be the religion of Japan, together with its Confucianist philosophies, resulting in the desperation felt so universally in Japan today.

..., but it doesn't mean Japanese Christians can't spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to other Japanese people. Remember The Lord says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me" Phil. 4:13! I'm sure The Lord will give him opportunities to spread the word of Christ to other Japanese people and not just only foreigners to Japanese people. With man, not all things are possible, but with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

Focusing on the point of science and logic. You can look at the science and order of the earth every flower, creature the science of how the earth survives, how you can find the golden ratio in so much of God's creation and how He is the master designer of science. When you think about every detail put into designing the human body; every bone, organ, immune system the anatomy and power of the eyeball and brain. How can you not acknowledge Him being the true God of our existence. After that you can make your way into discussing the faith based subject of God's authority and the absolute fact that neither shinto, buddhism, daoism or other religions have not power against or instead of Christ.

Being a missionary is a great responsibility! The missionary must have great energy, fortitude, and courage. Wherever the missionary goes, no matter what part of the world he or she is in, he or she must spread the Word. Locals must understand what the missionary is telling them. The missionary must get the Word right! Therefore, every missionary must know the language of the local people! To everyone who is going on a mission or preparing for one, I would like to recommend a very good workshop by Yury Ivantsiv Polyglot Notes: Practical Tips for Learning Foreign Language. This wonderful book will give you answers how to properly learn a foreign language with a minimum of your time and effort. This book gives answers to many of the questions that everyone faces when learning a language. I wish you good luck in your important work!

I don't really get it. Why even do missionary work there if you have to introduce almost an entire country to the bible first? It seems so illogical to me that they, who heard it supposedly have the advantage of getting saved when there are still very few who will hear about it. Shouldn't we trust God that he can reach people by himself? It's just so strange because if you're saying that you need missionaries to go there, it's like saying God is too weak to let himself be known there over 2000 years? C'mon, that's now a win for God, but makes one question why he needs to send people.
Another way to see it is that countries like Japan are mostly just doomed from a Christian perspective. And I'm not comfortable with that either. There has to be a choice for everyone if he is loving and just. It just makes no sense otherwise.

      @__-pg7bd ปีที่แล้ว +1

God is not weak at all, if He was, then He wouldn't be God.
Missionaries don't save people, God does. And God doesn't need missionaries to share the Gospel. However, He called us to spread the good news to the ends of the Earth. Because why should we keep such joy to ourselves??
And btw, the Bible is really for people who are already Christian. The Bible for a non Christian is unimportant because they don't understand what it means. Just like a calculus book wouldn't be given to a kindergartener because they wouldn't understand it.
Countries like Japan are only doomed if we don't share the Gospel. Because that's what we were called to do. They're doomed if we don't obey God.
That's why there's people like me who are working hard to be missionaries to Japan

@virtuosyc, the revelation you resist reading plainly answers your quandary: "... in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 'Where is the promise of His coming?' they will ask. 'Ever since our fathers fell asleep, everything continues as it has from the beginning of creation.'
"But they deliberately overlook the fact that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world of that time perished in the flood. And by that same word, the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
"Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.
"But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare.
"Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness as you anticipate and hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be destroyed by fire and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells."
      ^^^^^
"Senseless"? You seem willing to ignore the truth you KNOW, not merely by the reading of Scripture, but by an immediate and constant audience of what has been written on your own heart and mind (conscience): "...your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God with your body." Without the Bible, your conscience still bears witness to your Maker requires of you...which you find yourself helpless to do! The Scriptures explain that He has not LEFT US in that miserable state, but has provided a Redeemer for us--Jesus Christ!
You may reject what you will, but don't scoff at it's sincere offer to others who WILL repent at the hearing of it, and return to the Father by "the Way, the Truth and the Life" He provides.

You're talking as though Japanese preachers weren't on the radio all throughout the 60s and 70s immediately following the war. The Gospel has been preached in Japan for decades, it just seems "not mainstream" if you don't look at the historical reality
I suggest watching Pearl Harbour to Calvary, which tells the story of a Japanese WW2 Pilot who became one of several preachers prevalent in Japan.

Marital desires between a man and woman will be gone in heaven and the only love will be non-marital love.
The only marriage in heaven will be the marriage to Jesus which will be better and which is what earthly marriage represents. When you have the real thing in heaven, you do not need the symbol from earth.
There will be no childbearing in heaven either. Everyone will be a family in Jesus.
Marital love is temporary. Non-marital love is eternal.
Non-marital love will involve every man and every woman with each other as brothers and sisters in Jesus.
Marital love will come to an end. While it is not a sin to marry, understand that it is only temporary.
This is a hard truth to accept, but it is what it is.
Tragically, people have renounced their faith over this.
If you renounce your faith over this, you will go to hell, and there will not be marriage between men and women there either.

      What about Saviour?
The Gospel is that Jesus died for your sins. Past, present, future. Why do you have to get clean before Jesus cleans you? You are preaching a different Gospel.
When you trust Jesus Christ alone to save you, and not your works of "turning away from sin and stopping sinning", the Holy Spirit circumcises your soul with the 'circumcision made without hands' and cuts your sinful flesh off of it.
"The soul which toucheth sin shall die". So when you get born again (by trusting Jesus Christ alone) God has to deal with this. Now, there are 2 'men' living. Paul calls this, the old man (flesh) and the new man (spirit). That which is born of God cannot sin! But the old man still does. We will never get rid of that old man until we die, or Jesus takes us, we can merely starve it. Likewise, the old man can starve the new man.
If you don't know the exact moment you asked Jesus to be your Saviour, I suggest asking him right now: for I fear you might be going to hell if you're still relying on your own righteousness to "stay saved".

Just be human. To be another by any label is an enemy of another. Catholic fought the protestants for thirty years. See how they hated each other. The eastern orthodox is still split due to power and territory control. The Thirty Years’ War was a 17th-century religious conflict fought primarily in central Europe. It remains one of the longest and most brutal wars in human history, with more than 8 million casualties resulting from military battles as well as from the famine and disease caused by the conflict. The war lasted from 1618 to 1648, starting as a battle among the Catholic and Protestant states that formed the Holy Roman Empire

Muslims kill each other (sunni/shiate). These are just a few examples. It does not disprove Christianity but rather proves the point that we are all fallen creatures which is the point of christianity.

You are correct, Catholics and Orthodox are not Christian, even if they call themselves Christian. The Catholics have killed at least 60 million Christians directly from 300AD to the 1800sAD. They do not preach the good news of Christianity, that Jesus Christ died for their sins, that whosoever believeth on him, will not perish, but have everlasting life. They teach that you have to be baptised, take the mass every Sunday, perform penance, confession of sins as often as you can, and do last rites in order to be saved from hell, maybe.
"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
It's really that simple. I hope you believe this simple message too.

@user-hr8dx9qw4n , what you and I both KNOW is that, just like every other maker, OUR Maker has tagged each of us with His "trade secrets"--a conscience: Without reading a single "Bible verse", your conscience bears infallible witness to what your Maker requires of you..."Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength", and "Love your neighbor as yourself"...ALL of which you find yourself helpless to do! Falling short of such obligations, what "bright prospects" do you fantasize are open to you? The clock is running...
The Scriptures explain that He has not LEFT US in that miserable state, but has provided a Redeemer for us--Jesus Christ!
"Sincere seeker"? What a childish fib! If I can see through that, just imagine how your feeble claim will "fly" in God's Court, when He and you both open and compare the actual, meticulous, lifelong records you've kept... Granted, His patience may permit you to scoff at your own peril for a "minute"--or a "weekend"--but (Praise Him!) you can't impugn His sincere offer to others like us who WILL repent at the hearing of it, and return to the Father by "the Way, the Truth and the Life" He provides.

@@thomasdykstra100 What you and I know is that your version of a god was invented 5000-3500 years ago.
The Hebrews invented their god that fit to them, they claimed, that he "promised" them a land that was owned by another people and they claimed he "ordered" them to eli min ate those people to get their land.
There is no "marker" and he also dosnt get triggered with your bible.
You just promise something to people, that you neither can prove nor can you quarantee that its real.
Its just your subjective man-mad belief with man-made subjective morals and claims.
      "What a childish fib!"

The Evangelical jesus And His Cult
    From Tom Pastoric's post:
I don’t read the Bible daily. I rarely attend church. But I am a believer.
I think what scared me the most on January 6th wasn’t the march on the capitol or even the violence. What scared me the most was that thousands of people (and the millions not there) who no longer were marching for conservative ideology, Christian values, or even our Constitution. These people went into their “battle” with flags, shirts, and hats emblazoned with name trump. They were and are willing to hate, kill, and destroy in the name of trump. These are our family members, our neighbors, and our coworkers who, in my opinion, have lost their way. They seem to worship and even be willing to commit violence for an ungodly man.
While I lean left politically, I could not imagine the day when I sported anything more than a yard sign for a politician. I wasn’t even political before 2016. Generally, I just never cared. But what I have learned is how easy it is for Christians to stray from their ideals and their God to follow a fool because of promises of greatness and righted wrongs. We have seen influential pastors encourage parishioners to follow and march for trump. We see the evangelical right look to this man as sent by God to lead our country to their Biblical beliefs instead of condemning his immoral behavior.
I’m pained to be honest as many of us are. I am choosing to remove myself from childhood friends and family not because of politics, but solely due to their devotion to and love for a terribly flawed politician. How did this happen? How did we, as Christians, allow ourselves to align with this man in the first place and be willing to raise his banner above our God and nation?

Dude what are you talking about. Christians vote for the candidate that most aligns with Christian values. Trump was anti abortion, anti-lgbt surgery in the military, he ramped up our military to protect ourselves from enemies, he made peace in North Korea, wiped out isis. Meanwhile the left is killing babies, indulging in sin, and going against all of our Christian values under the disguise of "love". It's a deceit from satan. Idk how any person claiming to be a Christian can be left leaning. The Bible said there's a time for peace and a time for war. Jesus flipped the tables over in the synagogue and started whipping people. The left are trying to introduce evil into the United states and the people on Jan 6 tried to prevent it. Biden is an illegitimate president. God demands justice and righteousness. You need to read your Bible. Christians aren't supposed to be weak cowards.

Sadly like the Israelites in the Bible we put our trust in man politicians instead of Christ. All parties are flawed. Pray for those led astray by party allegiance. Keep our eye on Yeshua H’Masiach (Jesus Christ).

Considering most of the main instigators of January 6 were CIA agents dressed up as "Trump protestors" I'm not sure how any of that had to do with evangelical Christians?
