    The A pillars of the Belair doesnt even use the roof as a structual unit. They are angeled straight up and just collapses.

    Maybe that bel air is in a museum to show how much safety has improved

    So, did the dummy in the older csr end up dying from having his head being smashed against the caving roof?

    I think the point was well made in the first minute or so. Doesn't seem to warrant repeat after repeat for 4:40 Also, I thought to myself, are they really doing a crash test on a classic 1959 Chevy? Really?

    1950s car are deadly bec. it has no crumple zone?

    • @upforellie
      @upforellie 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It's a combo of no crumple zone and no mitigation for the interior literally collapsing in on the driver. YMMV.

    Not the result I was expecting.
    I fully expected the more solid steel car from the old days to basically slice right through the cheaper made lighter cars of today

      New cars crumple when in accident.

      Its clearly a rust bucket that was structurally compromised before the test. I mean look at all that red dust LMFAO. Not a good example.

      @@taylorsopko5807 There are people whose job it is to think of every detail before doing this kind of testing. They spend month, plus have the data from the whole lot of testing they have already done, to plan better and better tests. You're doing napkin math in the comments of a youtube video. Sit down son. It is a good example and you are wrong.

    I agree with someone else said this crash test is definitely flawed the Bel-Air panels didn't even seem like they were bolted on and remember those cars back then used a hourglass frame there were no side frame rails so the Malibu hit just sheet metal

      Truly sorry for your loss, but yeah, while airbags save a lot of lives, unfortunately they can't save *all* lives, and can't be reasonably expected to.

  • @taylorsopko5807

    This video has a major fault. That car has decades of rust, you can see the red dust flying everywhere. it wouldn't be the same if they were both new.

    • @abalcerzak1931
      @abalcerzak1931 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      It woudn't be exactly the same but the result would be : the Bel Air driver would be dead, badly injured or cripled for life, and the 2009 Malibu wouldn't. The Bel Air have no airbags, no crumple zones, no collapsible steering wheel, no disc brakes and not even seat belts. It wouldn't be less deadly if it was made of titanium. Look what happened to the CyberTruck few days ago. Look at the statistics of lethality year by year. Older cars looked way nicer, I agree. But they are far for dangerous by today's standards. I'm glad they didn't used a $60.000 perfect condition Bel Air because it would be an expensive, useless and stupid waste.

      You actually want cars to crumple and be destroyed to reduce the Gs imparted into the occupant.
