I just bought one of these, it should arrive next week. It was sold for parts or restoration, and m offer of next to nothing was accepted. It looks like it is in better shape than most I have seen for sale. I will have to replace then end of the sheet metal on the outside of the tray on which the track sits, as well as the metal piece the tab on the car contacts, as someone removed that section. I have had the car for some time and it works (and now has silhouettes of passengers in the windows). I still need the people and the controller. There is absolutely no way I can fit it on my layout but I couldn't turn down the change to get it. I will eventually get al the parts and get it working and it will appear in future videos as travelers move from one location to another.
@@MarkWick It would be great if it’s in good enough shape to restore because it’s a more fun piece than I expected it to be. My 3 year old grandson loves it- he’ll spend an amazing amount of time opening and closing the gate and redirecting people in various ways. Good luck with it.
@@AFTrainsND it arrived yesterday and it works very well. I have several ideas about how to replace the missing section, and I may have figured out a way to add it to my layout. Now, I need to get some people to use on it. I tested it with cows from the stockyard.
I just purchased a used Guilford station. Not passenger car or passengers. I experimented with some Lionel cattle that have mohair bases. I have yet to find figures of people at a reasonable price. The cattle move nicely on the upper portion of the station. However, they go down the ramp well enough but will not move up the ramp to exit unless there are three or four other cattle pushing from behind.
@@MarkWick I tried making figures from some "O" gauge ones I had laying around. Since the AF figures are smaller, I had to shorten my figures by amputating their legs. Women figures wearing dresses or long coats sort of worked, but not great. I finally bit the bullet and spent too much money on a pair of original AF figures.
Thanks for the tip about the tape. I have an original store layout from 1954 that came with this and the cattle station. It's always been a bit difficult to get them to run around properly/
I also have a stockyard that runs really well on the brown side but not so well on the black side. I’m going to try adapting this the next time I get it out. I think it might work for the cattle going around and loading but I’d have to take it off when unloading the cattle from the car. Don’t know if it’ll work but it’s something to play around with. I’m thinking of doing a short video on the stockyard some time in the next few months so stay tuned! Thanks for watching.
Nice work around. Unfortunately all of the 766 animated stations do not have the adjusting rod set up like the one you have. My station does not have the rod and there is not a hole on the end of the base either. Mine has an adjusting screw that can only be accessed by lifting the station and reaching underneath with a screw driver which is not very convenient. Maybe I can find a rod and the same adjustment screw as your version and modify mine. I have to adjust my station prior to installing on the layout, which by the way came with four people. The operating stockyard can be adjusted by lifting off the roof of the shed to get at the screw.
Thanks for the comments. You are right about the 4 people. I should have researched that a bit better. Still, I think one of my men is a repro because it’s quite different than the other one. When I use my stockyard I attach the wires to the base and variable posts because it gives me a bit more control over the cattle. I have to put my train in neutral when I do this but that isn’t a major problem. Perhaps that would work with your station.
@@AFTrainsND Your photos/video is the first time I have been able to see the rod and its associated adjusting screw and how they connect. Now I will be looking for those two parts. I will have no regrets modifying my station type (drill one small hole in the base) to the type you have if I can find them. It will be so much easier to adjust.

@MarkWick if you see a thumbs down, please ignore it. My big clutzy thumb hit the wrong icon! I saw your video on Facebook. Nice test.

I also used cows to test mine. The people figures are expensive. I may try making my own from figures I already have.
