At 2:19 did anyone else say “No! Don’t do it!” Then he didn’t. Whew! 😂
😅👍
I would have been surprised if he did it. He is too good a gun guy , in the know even though folks his vintage would go ahead and "dew it"......
Love mine. Got the 32H&R six shot and love the low recoil. I can shoot this one all day long!!!! Awesome gun with an upgraded mechanism and many other upgrades.
According to Sam the revolver aficionado the 32 h&r has the best muzzle energy to felt recoil ratio out there

Wat! They didn’t consult Hillary? 😵🤡
The “old coots “ should be happy younger men are interested in revolvers. Newer generations spur updates, innovation and improvements to some great classics. Keep it up bro!!!
lol I don’t care which gun your Gen prefers , but revolvers aren’t going to be improved they won’t be the quality that S&W was in the 50’s or 60’s . Yeah you get new calibers and trigger locks and floating firing pins and fancy sights on a snub nose🤣and probably a$200 increase over that of a standard Airweight .
@@randyblackburn9765s&w ain't the only wheelgun in town
@@taasch2505doesn’t matter my point is still the same whether it’s Colt , Taurus , Smith, Ruger , Henry, updates and improvements won’t make a better gun .They will never be as good as they were 40 or 50 years ago . Customer service has apparently gone down probably because they can’t keep up with the warranty repairs. Henry not withstanding because their revolvers are in the infancy. Perhaps the young generation can spur an improvement and get Henry to put a shroud on the ejector rod
What do you mean 'old coots'? They cant tell me nuttin. My .38s are from the 1800's
@@radicaledwards3449 yes the good ole days, I miss the 1800s😄
kinda interested in the kimber k6xs, since its a 6 shot .38spl j-frame sized revolver vs s&w 5 shot
That K6 is indeed slick. Wish a 4" or 6" .327 were offered. It would make a great trail gun.
If you are ok with the slightly increased cylinder size and weight, the K6S and K6XS are hard to beat. S&W Ultimate Carry June 2024

So… I have now put about 300 rounds through mine 632 (same reason you cited, why not go 32?? ) and I LOVE IT!!! It is accurate, easy to shoot and soft on the hands. The DA pull is smooth with no stacking and predictable and the size is perfect for all day every day carry. It have made its way into my rotation right along side the Wilson Combat EDC x9, CZ Shadow 2 Compact, Stacatto CS, and Sig P365 AXG Legion, and into my Micro pocket carries when I’m in the mood which include Kimber Micro 9, and Beretta Tomcat.
The ultimate carry is well named and as fun to shoot as any other gun I own, and let’s be honest, if it isn’t fun, then you don’t practice, and if you don’t practice you shouldn’t carry it.
Very nice! I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying it! .32 is definitely the way to go! 🙌
They should offer a 638 without key lock and the same sights
That would be awesome 👍
Stoked for the 432UC in 32 H&R
It's gonna be the more fun one at the range for sure
Same
Can you please explain to me what’s so appealing about the 32 caliber round besides a little bit less recoil? The round costs twice as much as 38 spl and isn’t anywhere near as abundant as 38. I don’t understand the hype and would like to be convinced otherwise. Thank you
@@LegendaryZG he says it at the beginning of the vid
@@LegendaryZG 6 Rounds instead of 5. They shoot 32 S&W Short, 32 S&W Long, 32 H&R and the LCR shoots 327 Fed Mag. Also 32ACP is a semi rimmed cartridge and can be fired if needed. It’s very versatile. You can also teach children to shoot or older folks with recoil sensitivity. If you go with 327 Fed Mag it’s around the same power as 357 Magnum so it’s a very powerful defense cartridge except you have an additional round.
I love your reviews bro 😎 you always clear everything we wanna know … 👍
Right on man 👍 Glad you enjoyed the review
Love the revolver content! I carry a Smith and Wesson 686 plus 7 shot 357 magnum! I will always be a champion of the revolver!
Very nice! I’m a huge fan of the 7-Shot Smiths! I have a 586 L-Comp that I love 👍
Nice little wheel gun, I carried a 442 for years and just recently bought a kimber k6xs and really like that extra round
When you are at that low of a round count, an additional round definitely makes a difference 👍
I couldn't find one yet so I just bought the Kimber K6sx, but this one and a Langdon Beretta are still on my list for this year
I’d say that’s a good list! 😅👍
Hey man I've really been enjoying all your revolver content recently. I picked up a Ruger Security Six last week, after never having shot or owned a revolver. I shot it for the first time yesterday and I was blown away by how much fun it was. I don't think it will enter my carry rotation though due to its age and an issue with the ejector rod. However, people dismiss wheelguns in favor of autos nowadays, when a wheelgun might actually be a better option in some cases. Who knows, maybe I just dont have the right one yet?
So glad I found your channel and subbed!
Right on! The Security Six is a classic! I just picked up a GP100 and I’ve been loving it 👍 Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience 😎
Security Sixes are awesome & I'm sure Ruger would fix anything like the ejector rod...back in the 80's a shooting buddy had a problem with his & Ruger repaired it & had it back to him in a week or so....
So carry, shoot, & enjoy your's...
One advantage revolvers have in a self defense scenario is that most semi autos will go out of battery & become non-functional if pressed hard against an attacker's body during a struggle while a revolver will still fire....
A fine review of a fine piece. I appreciate the honesty about the cons of the revolver.
Glad you enjoyed the review 👍
i have an old model 640 that i've carried off and on for years. i replaced the rubber grip with a nice, wood "banana" grip that has room for all three fingers, has a good palm swell and protection for the knuckle up front. i'll go for the weight of that piece over any airweight. i don't notice the weight on a good belt and i don't notice the recoil either. the airweights i've shot always seem to want to do somersaults. it's also nice to have the opportunity to use magnums as a choice too.
I think your 640 is a great piece, especially if it’s older 👍 Can’t go wrong!
A good, thorough review, giving the good and bad about this pistol. Well done.
👍
The snubbie is still my go to choice for a small firearm. It's alot easier to get ahold of a small revolver than a small autoloader and even if you're grip is suboptimal the thing will keep firing where an autoloader can start to jam. The shape of a snub also lends itself well to comfort and concealment in general. Thankfully everything worked out and they convinced Smith to do a .32 version. I would really like to see a revival of all .32 caliber cartridges and this UC j frame, along with the Beretta 30x are going to do a lot to bring .32 back into the mainstream.
I like Lipseys stuff. Cool firearm. Can't wait to see the Spohr. Get to the range this weekend everyone!
LMAO saw where Spohr was bringing their stuff over here glad someone got a hold of one will be looking forward to that. Also good video man happy Easter!
Glad you enjoyed the vid! I can’t wait to share the Spohr on the channel 👍 Happy Easter!
I got mine ! 32 mag. Love it !
This video dropped literally as I’m packing up to head to the range to shoot the brand new 442UC I completely randomly stumbled across yesterday afternoon. I’m super pumped!
Perfect timing! Enjoy! 🙌
$820+ is a lotta money for a 5 shot aluminium j frame Kinda silly , no ¿ ¡😅
@@christianhardwick6530 Yep. But, if you haven’t noticed, everything costs a lot of money now. Its street price is appropriate considering the current market. That being said, I’d take a micro 9mm with double the capacity at nearly half the price any day 👀
@@christianhardwick6530I paid 699$ for a 432UC my 642 pro series was like 500$ so yes the upgrades are worth $200 extra to me. The grips and sights are awesome, the xtra chamber and 32nag chambering is super cool, and the trigger is way lighter than my 642 pro. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video.
I probably can't afford this model, but it sounds nice. I hate to think that the quality on regular Smith and Wesson J-frames are going down so much. I love the internal hammer models. I don't understand why they would make the .32 version in .32 H&R Magnum when they could make it in .327 Federal Magnum and be able to shoot all of the .32 calibers. Ultimately, I would probably still prefer this one in .38 Special +P because the ammo is more available.
I pocket carry the M&P 357 version. Goes everywhere. Like it’s not even there. Wheel guns deserve love.
Edit: still love those grips. Just don’t wanna give up my laser grips the M&P came with.
I am on a wait list for their 642 in 38. I already carry their standard 642 in 38. One concern is though I love the new sights, I thought these look definitely more likely to snag when pocket or winter coat carry.
..they do. I got one a few weeks ago... The sights are great but do catch the pocket hem on the way out...
This is really like my 640-1 pro series, just in .38spl
I think it would be worth the extra premium on it, based on what I have seen online.
👍
Have UC 642 and it is awesome.
You had me at “That’s my purse” 😂😂😂
🤣👍
Just ordered a black version of this. Hopefully mines all good…. Plan on it being my back up on duty.
Pretty much in agreement about your assessment for new owners that the Ultimate Carry fits the bill for folks that want "one J-frame to cover it all".
What surprised me is how it took this long for them to implement the UC line considering they had already implemented most of those features on its heftier brother, the 640 Pro. Now I don't have to spend about 30% more money for a heavier J-frame that I'd never take advantage of being able to shoot .357 Magnum out of because .38 +P is plenty enough for me from such a small handgun.
Well said 😎👍
I EDC small snub-nosed revolvers often. A LCR in 357 more than anything. But also a S&W J-frame and a Taurus in 327 Federal Mag. My J-frame is used for my shower gun most of the time. 😎
Hell of a gun! I'll probably end up switching out the grips, though. The sights and beveled chambers really set this apart from other options.
I agree about the grips. I'd like to see someone make a soft "rubber-like" aftermarket grip that came up high on the backstrap like the factory one. I think I'd go for it in 32 mag.
It’s a great offering! And yeah, if you plan on doing any amount of shooting with this thing… I’d swap grips 😂👍
I have been contemplating getting a Korth, but ever since I saw TFB TV’s video on the Spohr, I have been stuck in a dilemma, so I really look forward to your video on it!
Absolutely! 👍 I’ve been loving it! Cant wait to share it with everyone! 😎
I’m glad I wasn’t anywhere public when that purse bit came up 🤣
That 686 though 🤤
🤣🤣🤣
I had a old 637 and got rid of it and my ole lady bought me a 36 Chiefs special. Gotta love girls and guns.
Awesome gun! Would love to see comparison to Diamondback SDR
It's really about time S&W got off their duffs and installed drift sights on the J-frame, such a shame a third party has to push S&W to get with it. Trigger looks nice and wide, another "about time" feature. S&W has been lazy with their revolvers of late, but I get it. Who wants 6-rounds when you can have 16-rounds. The chances of getting assailed by only one person is slim to none, and slim just left town.
I love my non-revolvers, but CQB or gun-jitsu will show you how useless a slide out of battery is compared to a wheel gun.
@@Inkushu I'm with you....we need semi-auto revolvers
Subbed. Don't fret about getting bashed for being "young looking". Shoot, I wish I was young looking like you. I'm 57 going on 100 and am aging terribly. Anyhoo... nice review. I'll stick with my old trusty 13.5 ounce Ruger LCR.
I wish they would update the J-frame with the crane-locking cylinder, like on the new combat magnums. The J more than any other frame could benefit from a longer ejector rod.
That would be awesome, but an expensive redesign to tool up for. I’m not surprised they went the cheaper route for these.
Great review on the J-Frame. As a politically active firearms owner, the Aura I.D. protection looks worthwhile. The easy cancellation within 14 day free trial may be worth giving this a try.
Give it a shot! I’m a fan 👍
The PHLSTER Philly Special AIWB holster and Mika’s Pocket Holsters are my go to for snubbies.
Those are great options 👍
I was looking for 32 HR magnum at a gun store in blaine, minnesota. One of the employees stated he had never even heard of 32 magnum.😮
🤦♂️😂
The quality control on the new SW are supposedly horrible. You find any issues with yours?
Just what I showed in the video. But I’ve heard some horror stories, for sure.
I love my J more so now that I shoot 38 wadcutters , so much more manageable than 38 special . And the wadcutter is a real man stopper because it will cause a massive wound . The typical gun battle uses 3 shots so since I can be very accurate with placement five is sufficient.
The grips aren’t meant for 3 fingers. My pinky stays comfortably at the bottom of the grip on my 432UC just like my 642 pro series. 👌
The UC J Frame is something that I plan on getting. Mine will be the 432 in 32 H&R Magnum. But just as the new Springfield SA 35 skyrocketed after its initial offering, so has the 432UC J Frame.. On gunbroker, these have an asking price of $1099-$1200, with a Lipseys MSRP of $759. I might give MSRP, but doubtful. I certainly will not give gb prices. So, Smith and Wesson, congrats on continuing to erode your fan base by involving Lipseys in a product with little to no initial supply and a waning of interest, as a result.
Guess I am different, but I want my sidearms on at 25 yards with duty carry ammo. Granted in a self defense situation it would most likely be not aimed, but a point n' shoot situation, but maybe, just maybe one might find themselves in an active shooter encounter where accuracy at range would be extremely important.
I agree, that’s also why I don’t carry a snubbie as a primary. 18 rounds of 9mm +P with a red dot. Never know when the worst case scenario could happen.
I just ordered a 432 uc, can't wait, will compare against my 432 pd
Honestly, you had me until you said medium sized gloves. I wear XXL winter gloves so there'd be absolutely no way lol... I don't want to end up on a TikTok compilation. 😅
This would be like a keychain gun in your hands 🤣👍
Glad you didn't lose your purse. I'm just letting it be known, that I will do dirty things to get that Spohr sent to me after you to review (You didn't get 9mm cylinder did you?) Let that be known to them :) I've done a video on Harry's Holster Icon 2.0 Revo Holster for those interested
😂👍 And yes, I did get the 9mm cylinder 👀
Other than the capacity and the next issue I'm going to say. I prefer the look and feel of double action revolvers to striker fire pistols. That being said other than some low capacity 22's I have yet to see any revolvers I'd consider concealable. The closest I've seen that is practical is the Rhino since it balances the recoil, but its still larger then my XDM 10mm, which I dint attempt to conceal carry because of how thick it is.
If we aren't talking a conceal carry gun Id the the best cost to value ratio is a classic Ruger Security six in 357 mag. Of cost isnt a concern then probably an 8 shot Revolver from Ruger or Smith and Wesson.
Nice review good to see revolver content seems like it could be a good option for small light revolver to carry for someone
😎👍
When and where will these be available?
They’re out now; you can theoretically get them from anybody who is a Lipsey’s dealer but they’re relatively few and far between right now. I lucked into finding one randomly but most folks are having their local shop order one for them.
Is that a copy of Gunsmith Cats on the shelf back there?
Yep, lol. And the manga is right below it. 😅
What are your thoughts between this and the 340pd?
Depends on your budget and caliber necessity. Personally, I’d get this in .32 for the extra round and less recoil for follow up shots 👍
@@NightwoodGunsthank you for the direction!
Can’t wait for that Spohr review

Who makes holsters for the new SW UC J frame’s especially in the 32 HR ??
The Icon from Harry’s Holsters that I showed in the video 👍
Hard to compete with Kimber these days with small revolvers. They are made like a bank vault. The in the 1 large neighborhood kimber may get my vote .
I hope you do a video on the 586 l comp. I'm considering buying that one. I have 3 or 4 revolvers but I must choose one. The 586 l comp, 19 carry comp, 3 inch new python or this UC J frame.
I’ll be doing a vid on it, but it’ll be several weeks out. I got in over my head with product reviews and now I’m playing catch up. Short “trust me bro” answer: 586 L-comp (7 rounds+moon clips) inspect it for QC issues before picking it up, and send it to Nelson Ford for an action job. You’ll have a world-class revolver. Unless you want a micro gun for deep-deep belt concealment or pocket/ankle carry. Then I’d get the UC in .32 👍
@NightwoodGuns yeah I was leaning towards the 586 l comp the most. I'm in Arizona too and have driven past nelson ford's shop before. Thanks for the reply. I look forward to that video.
I will attest this gun in 38 Spc is a hand hammer. +P ammo hurts to shoot. That being said, I do not regret buying it at all.
It’ll thump ya! But it’s a nice wheelgun 👍
Also, when is the Spohr video coming?
It’ll be a few weeks, I want to make sure I get to thoroughly test it before I share my thoughts and observations 👍
Dude. I got a 442 UC (my second revolver) to do pocket carry. First was a LCRx 38 not long ago. Anyway , I learned the hard way that you can't shoot 600 rds through it in a week like i might with an auto loader. My God man. I finally just had to call it. Like ok enough vetting ammo and practicing. I'm good. It got painful. And I think I have tough guy hands.
That's why the .32 is such a better round. .38 was always too much for a sub 20oz. snubbie. If the .32 h&r is too spicy you can always drop down to .32 long. The extra 6th round is just icing on top.
Those small revolvers are nice for pocket carry
I'm an "old coot". I probably have socks older than you. But I do enjoy your vids, kiddo. You know your sheet and present it well. My 640 is in .357. Yeah... One or two defensive cylinder dumps and I'm done. Cheers!
It has a surprising amount of gasses escaping from the flash gap. I’m wondering if the flash gap is too wide..
It’s acceptable. It was probably just the ammo I was shooting. Nasty stuff.

Hi, I see you are running the Harry's icon 2.0 holster there, have you also tried the Tulster RATH by any chance? How do they compare? Thanks.
Should have been .327 instead of .32 mag! 😁
The lightweight frame killed that idea due to cartridge pressures of the .327 Mag. Would like to see them offer this in a Steel Frame to handle the .327 Mag.
@@_JimS What about a scandium frame?
Adamantium would be a lot better.
@@Shadow__133 😂
Scandium would be great for 327, but it would be well over a grand MSRP. They made the right choice for a wider audience.

I just watched someone else’s TH-cam video on that gun and the trigger stuck back first shots fired. Very disappointing to see hope yours works better than his.
Yikes! I mean… based on what I’ve seen coming out of Smith recently I’m not surprised. Though it does seem that the UC is having better luck than other Smiths. Time will tell. Thanks for letting me know!
Do they make an exposed hammer like the 637? I carry the 637 in a pocket Alabama holster in the summer a good bit. I really hate the tunnel sight though
I still prefer a built to last Colt Detective Special with a hammer shroud as a pocket revolver. Still have that single action ability for more precise shots at longer distances. Not a fan of hammerless DAO revolvers even with the upgraded sights and better grips. Grips can always be changed even if fixed sights cannot. Only offered in a two inch it seems, no three inch. Revolvers are more reliable than autoloaders and simple to operate without the hassles. I know you are in the capacity camp also about a revolver's limited capacity but a lot of folks are out of touch with reality of needing more capacity in a five second gunfight where no one can get through a mag or cylinder let alone have time to reload. Yes there is the above average person living in gangland and high crime area that needs the extra capacity ammo reloads but the average person only has a less than one percent chance of multiple threats and a longer ten or thirty second gunfight and that is why we still carry reloads and don't stake our lives on averages.
Nice except for the plywood grips. What is the matter with nice Walnut?
I’d say G10 is a step up from plywood. But I do appreciate nice walnut 👍

Hey what about that 586 L comp tho 🤔🤔🤔 I watched a video where it was having light primer strikes and it makes nervous to buy one of S&W’s Performance Center guns
I took it to my man Nelson Ford and he did an action job and added an extended firing pin. Now it feels like a Korth for 1/3 of the price and is reliable 😂👍
@@NightwoodGuns good ole Mr. Ford lol nice 👍🏻
@@Mitsurifan357 But yeah, modern S&W revolvers are a dice roll. Always check timing and barrel alignment before committing to one at the very least 😅 You can always add an extended firing pin if you get light strikes.
@@NightwoodGuns the dice roll is 100% true. I’ve been burned before with S&W. I’m very thorough with my inspections now lol
@@Mitsurifan357 The worst one for me was when I inherited my grandma’s 1988 airweight and the frame cracked after 5 rounds (it was previously unfired, lol) Should have just sold it instead of shooting it. It was made a year before their lifetime warranty started but they replaced it anyway. Unfortunately, the 642 they sent me was covered in burrs (and I mean COVERED), had a misaligned barrel, the timing was off on two chambers, you could nearly slide a toothpick through the cylinder gap, dings and scratches all around, and the ejector rod was chipped. It was unreal 😭 Right in the middle of pandemic times, so I wasn’t completely surprised. Good stuff. 😂
I have a 432PD that was bought 30+ years ago. I wouldn't trade it for nothing!
I'm going to stick to my Taurus 856 UL. I like .38 special a whole lot more than .32 and that gun gives 6 rounds too and is only 16 ounces unloaded. Still pocketable since i went spurless
I’ve been trying to track down a 632, no luck yet.
They are definitely hard to find right now…
The unatanium carry revolver in 32h&r will be rare at the lgs. Interested buyers will have a difficult time purchasing at the srp.
Does the black aluminum finish hold up to kydex holsters? I prefer the black, but having no experience with aluminum framed revolvers, I‘m reluctant. I don‘t mind a little wear like on blued guns, but I fear that aluminum might age really badly😅
Their new finishes aren’t great. I’d expect wear for sure.
Fine I’ll go buy one jeez! Sold!

I've watched hundreds of gun battles on ASP, and never once did I see a civilian gunfight where more than 5 shots made the difference. Police? Military? Absolutely, because they are forced to move TOWARD the threat. Civilians aren't. Most everyone trying to copy spec ops and COD wanna bee is just justifying their purchases. Not only will you most likely never use your firearm, the chances of you needing 6+ rounds are astronomical when you combine those 2 factors.
If you say so
I’d rather have more rounds in the gun and not need them, than need more rounds in the gun and not have them. Not telling others what to do, just sharing what I do 👍
I’ve agreed with this perspective for years, but with the border situation leading almost certainly to some kind of major event, I’m starting to reconsider.
Why don't they make any j frames in 327 federal?
Because for some reason companies won’t just make what we want 😂 The real answer is cost.
How long are these going to be available?
If they sell well, they’ll make more. But as of now, they only made about 4,000 total and it’s my understanding that they are pretty much all gone.
@@NightwoodGuns ok that’s a relief, I’d love to get one eventually and I was worried they’d never make any more 😅

To me, the "ultimate carry" J-Frame would be a 638 built like the 642-UC. Even then, I'd ditch those boot grips for a set of Altamont birdheads.
My ultimate carry J-frame would be a 6-shot Scandium .327 magnum with a gold bead front sight and a set of Spegel grips. But it would also be 2k which is why they made this instead.
640-2 with crimson trace laser grips is the ultimate J frame. All stainless steel 357mag.
I love the sights and the grips. Wish we could buy the grips from VZ.
So need an honest opinion. Have several 357 J-frames already. They are lighter and of course capable of shooting bigger fireballs. Is it still worth trying to get a UC?
I would say you fall into a category of “get it because you want it, because you definitely don’t need it” 😅 If you are happy with your J-frames I’d say you’re good. But the UC is awesome and would be a fun addition (especially in .32 H&R since you’d get an extra round in it)

man, you're making me want this badly lol
If you’re looking for a neat J-frame, this is the one 👍
The Taurus 327 is a 6 shot, 2 inch barrel .327 Federal Magnum revolver. Smith & Wesson Ultimate Carry J-Frame is twice the price, but fires a less powerful round.
The .32 H&R Magnum makes more sense for an alloy frame, and it's also a better round for recoil sensitive shooters.
The Taurus also has none of the enhanced features noted in the video. In practice, few folks are going to run 327 mag in their taurus, instead running 32 hr mag or even 32sw long. The weight of the taurus (substantially heavier) might be viewed as a negative for purposes of carry.
I wonder if smith knows they came up with the caliber 327 federal
