I'm so impressed with his ability to do a Southern accent. I totally understand what he means when using his mouth differently--when I speak French, my mouth sometimes gets sore from having to use it so differently than when I speak English.
Ryan is the one they should have cast as Bill. He is wonderful as Jason, but he is so graceful and athletic he would be more believable as a vampire then Stephen.
Oh I like him even more knowing that he's basically like me when not acting. Reading, staying home, seeing movies with close friends. : ) He could've been a real playboy like Jason, you never know.
hah i really have to say that ryan's accent completely surprised me, just as much as hugh laurie's did when i first heard him accept an award. its rewarding to see that he can immerse himself in the character not just with the personality but with the accent as well.
He's Australian, I remember watching him from a show called Home and Away when I was a kid. Im surprised he's managed to get his southern accent on point.
Alexander's character is originally (1000+ years^^) Swedish (or at least Scandinavian) though, he's just lived in America for long enough not to have a significant foreign accent.
There are a few non-americans in TB. Anna Paquin is a Kiwi, Stephen Moyer is British and Alexander Skarsgard is Swedish. And they all have to do the southern accent (except for Alexander, his role speaks common american accent, it seems). Kudos to them. I fell in love with the southern twang coz of True Blood!
I feel the same way of Americans going overseas, but it's pretty hard not to pick up on an accent when it's the same language and you live there for years. It's just impossible not to pick it up a bit and use it in your everyday lingo! Especially since he's been living here for 7 years, it's really impressive.
Why on earth would that pique your interest in the show? They are 'actors', which means they take on an entirely different character then who they are in real life. That is hard to do yet they make it look so easy. Brilliant IMHO.
Lmao, I do apologise, but it's all I could think all through watching True Blood. It's the Southern accent when he's playing Jason Stackhouse that really finishes it off :| lol
im fascinated by how he and stephen moyer dissapear into the role of southern americans,i cant imagine pretending to be british or australian so its gotta be tough
I'm from Georgia & I have family in Baker, Louisiana & my whole family has a "Southern" accent, but some people on True Blood (especially Arlene & Sookie) take it a little too far. Just so you know, there are different accents depending on where you are in the south.
What...?! Now I don't know if you've read the books (I haven't) and maybe the book-Bill is more like this, but that would completely change the whole thing, wouldn't it? On a side note, I don't wanna lose this Jason :P
Australians seem to ace Southern American accents unerringly... like, i took me a while to believe Heath Ledger was an Aussie. Ryan's a great actor, his demeanor is a total 180 from Jason Stackhouse.
Wait...at 5:13 he says:'a couple of drinks'is he referring to alchohol?Cuz if he is,then i'm confused.Didn't he say in one interview that he never drinks?Hmm................
Well according to the books and people on the fan page jason becomes a were"panther" so his athletic stuff may come in handy. Bill is supposed to disappear anyway and leave sookie. We'll see if the show keeps him around though.
no ideas, quickly grey out of home and away the second puberty kicked in :-) it bugged me though for the first season of TB when i couldn't work out where i had seen him
i cryed when they killed vinnie of home and away! lol he's lovely, he is great in true blood, sort of shouted at the tv when he hit sookie, but he's buff! lol xx
I simply can not believe all the compliments on the Aussie accent - we usually get berated and shunned, then told, for our own sake, to shut our mouths before we embarrass ourselves and further.
I think people love vampires because they are able to live outside our stupid society. They have more freedom because they don't require money to live. All they really need is blood and it's walking around everywhere. They have little to fear from other people.

This guy is so adorable. If I ever started watching TB again it would be for him.
Oh I like him even more knowing that he's basically like me when not acting. Reading, staying home, seeing movies with close friends. : ) He could've been a real playboy like Jason, you never know.
Thanks for posting this. Ryan is such a doll.
man, is it a lot harder to act dumb than it is to act any other way. Ryan is brilliant at what he does!
A most attractive man with a nice sense of humour, and obviously not shy about appearing bare.
hah i really have to say that ryan's accent completely surprised me, just as much as hugh laurie's did when i first heard him accept an award. its rewarding to see that he can immerse himself in the character not just with the personality but with the accent as well.

@@leftbozchilli the southern accent is just an isolated British accent.
Alexander's character is originally (1000+ years^^) Swedish (or at least Scandinavian) though, he's just lived in America for long enough not to have a significant foreign accent.

For an Australian whose been in America for as long as he says he has, he's held onto his aussie accent nicely. :D
Wow his accent is brilliant! i think he looks like he'll have a southern one though, 'cause he does it so well.. but this one is amazing
AH he looks like my cousin. It's SOOO great to hear such a familiar voice.
Yes, he used to be on an Australian teen soap opera several years ago.
Why on earth would that pique your interest in the show? They are 'actors', which means they take on an entirely different character then who they are in real life. That is hard to do yet they make it look so easy. Brilliant IMHO.
@MsKitty1937 i totally agree and I think thats how GW Bush probably acted when he was young too. Finally someone else who saw it too!
i'm in love with this man.
its so different listening him talk in american accent n now in aus accent.. lol funny
both accents are hot lol i cant belive he was in that movie dead silience lol i recently watched it again and i was like OMG JASON STACKHOUSE lol
i can still rememeber him as Vinnie.. i was so sad when it turned out that he did actually die in jail when there was a fire.. :(
2024…True Blood Forever! 🩸
Lmao, I do apologise, but it's all I could think all through watching True Blood. It's the Southern accent when he's playing Jason Stackhouse that really finishes it off :| lol
I think his Southern American accent is flawless!
wau i though he was american.. he does great with the southern accent!!!!
im fascinated by how he and stephen moyer dissapear into the role of southern americans,i cant imagine pretending to be british or australian so its gotta be tough
Wow. Knowing this is his real accent I can totally hear kludd in his voice

I had no clue he was an Aussie lol that surprised me he has a better southern accent
Really great series 👍
Yeah! Never noticed that before but I can see that.

so cute, i like the accent
just a side note, he was really good in Law & Order, SVU.
fuckin hell wow cnt believe hes Australian :) hes very good with the american accent lol
It's Vinnie!!! lol
What...?! Now I don't know if you've read the books (I haven't) and maybe the book-Bill is more like this, but that would completely change the whole thing, wouldn't it?

@Simsker Yeah, he'd be referring to alcohol. I think he would be anyway, and maybe he meant that he didn't drink excessively in that interview?
Well according to the books and people on the fan page jason becomes a were"panther" so his athletic stuff may come in handy. Bill is supposed to disappear anyway and leave sookie. We'll see if the show keeps him around though.
@MsKitty1937 There is definitely a GWB quality to the character. I think it's not just his looks. They both have eyes that are kind of close together
no ideas, quickly grey out of home and away the second puberty kicked in :-) it bugged me though for the first season of TB when i couldn't work out where i had seen him
This is the first comment in 7 years. Life‘s shit
how can someones eyes be too close together?
ive never understood when people say that, i thought eyes was eyes
Owh I lurve his aussie accent! :D
he used to be on home and away years ago
He started to sound more British in my opinion in the later years? Stardom?
oh god i remember him as vinnie! i loved him and leah! What happened to vinnie anyways?
Sam the guy that plays as him atleast is from Lousiana born and raised. Dunno about the others.
his eyes being a bit too close together makes him all the more cute.
the first time i heard his NOT country accent i freaked out!!
no fucking way!!! This is VINNIE???? Omg i knew i saw him somwer but i cudnt think!! OMG!! VINNIE!!!! xx
i cryed when they killed vinnie of home and away! lol he's lovely, he is great in true blood, sort of shouted at the tv when he hit sookie, but he's buff! lol xx
I wanna know his workout routine.
......i didnt say anything about people being perfect, they are your words. :) settle, im sure hes got a great personality
Yeah!
His Wikipedia says he's a Sydneysider.
What a gorgeous man, smart and so hot!
he is shiney
So weird to see him speak with an aussie accent :) He is easily the best actor on the show, he's amazing. Not my favourite character tho
Ha, yes, I noticed that too - maybe actual Southerners would find the accents to be somewhat exaggerated? :P
Hmmm...my vote is for the Australian accent. I'm a real sucker for Aussie guys. Yum!!
I simply can not believe all the compliments on the Aussie accent - we usually get berated and shunned, then told, for our own sake, to shut our mouths before we embarrass ourselves and further.
**silence
sorry typo lol
hes an aussie..WHAAAAAAA! thats sooo hot!
and yet you dont know the "tall, blonde guy's" name. His name is eric, and his maker is godric
I think people love vampires because they are able to live outside our stupid society. They have more freedom because they don't require money to live. All they really need is blood and it's walking around everywhere. They have little to fear from other people.
@MsKitty1937 absolutely not. But he does look like Ryan Reynolds.
oh no why did you say that lol
my fantasy has been ruined
now all i see is Bush urgh!!!
not ruined for me, i always though gwb was handsome even if i didn't agree with his politics
reminds me a bit of ricky ponting...
Stephen Moyer has the accent too..

Welll i think hes good for jason, i dont think Anna is good for sookie tho.
OMG..I agree with tokiotomlover

Ryan is better than anna but stephen is good .
Ryan is better than Anna and Stephen.
@lollipopfop Oh my god, yes! I see this now :3
Man, he's so hot lol.
Ugh I love a good Ausie
HE IS SOOO HOT!!!
he's Australian?... really, hid his accent well in true blood...i really though he was an American
eyes-too-close
They are really trying to avoid actual southerners in the cast. I wonder why.
He looks a lot like George Bush...
Jason is yummy
@MsKitty1937.......no he looks NOTHING like him!
